CULTIVATING COMMUNITY

Partnering to inspire academic curiosity, impeccable character, and Christian leadership grounded in biblical truth. Students who live with purpose and lead with intent for God’s glory alone.
I am pleased to share the 2021-2022 Annual Report. Each year, in conjunction with the State of the School Address, we provide an update on Fellowship’s financial state and other key metrics of note. These metrics serve as a gauge, letting us know how well we are performing in the resolute pursuit of our mission. In our aim to be fully transparent, we hope this information provides you with confidence and assurance that the Board of Directors, my leadership team, and Fellowship’s remarkable faculty and staff dutifully and faithfully endeavor to be good stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us.
In addition to a look at the school’s financial health, you will also find updates on Fellowship’s:
• academic accomplishments
• art celebrations
• athletic victories
• philanthropic successes
The 2021-2022 school year certainly provided many reasons to celebrate. With record enrollment, a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, sold-out performances, playoff wins, and the opening of newly turfed Winchester Field, Fellowship enjoyed success on many levels.
As I reflected upon the year, there appeared to be a common thread woven throughout - you, our engaged community. All that is accomplished at Fellowship Christian School is only possible due to the support of our gracious and benevolent community. You show up consistently and invest sacrificially, and that is what sets Fellowship apart.
In light of that, the theme chosen for this year’s Annual Report is Cultivating Community. You - the parents, grandparents, alums, alum parents, faculty, and staff - have transformed our school into a home. You created a place for others to dwell.
At Fellowship, students discover who God is and Who He says they are. Parents find a community of like-minded believers to help them navigate the ups and downs of child-rearing. Faculty and staff experience the support of parents who believe in the mission and support the vitally important role they play in their children’s lives. Words fail to adequately convey how thankful I am for our community, and I commend you for how you demonstrate care for each other so well.
With gratitude, I present Fellowship’s 2021-2022 Annual Report. As you review all that our community accomplished, I ask that you join me in praying for the future of our great school, giving thanks for His blessings, and asking Him to continue to write an amazing story at His great school.
Humbled to serve,
Dr. Kathryn M. Teston Head of SchoolFCS receives the majority of its revenue and support from tuition and fees for student activities and services. The graphic indicates the sources of income for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022.
Note: Information on the graphic reflects operating activity only and does not include activity in restricted accounts.
OPERATING BUDGET FOR 2021-2022: $14.8M
OPERATING BUDGET FOR 2022-2023: $16.9M
TOTAL DEBT: $15M as of 6/30/2022
Board policy dictates operating expenses are to be covered 100% by tuition and fees. Expenditures are related, either directly or indirectly, to Fellowship’s educational mission.
For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, our income was used for the purposes indicated on the graphic.

Your 2021-2022
Thank you to our Remarkable Fellowship community! With more than 93% parent participation, you contributed $641,655 to the 2021-2022 Annual Fund! Your generosity and commitment are truly making a difference at our school. While tuition covers operational expenses each year, the money raised through the Annual Fund contributes to the special projects and initiatives that allow your children to benefit from the intentional curriculum and purposeful programming that sets Fellowship apart.
Due to your support and participation, we were able to invest in a number of initiatives, including K-12 STEM programming, an upgraded sound system at Bob Lord Field, mission trips, campus beautification projects, and more. Additionally, each year we allocate a portion of funds to financial aid. We feel strongly that cost should not prohibit a desiring family from providing their child with a covenant, Christian education. Thank you for standing in the gap and allowing us to offer aid to deserving families.
Before we celebrate the impact of your investment around campus and in the classrooms, we would like to express our immense gratitude for the community you help cultivate - one of volunteerism, encouragement, engagement, and generosity. Thank you.
Drainage issues threw us a curve ball, but you knocked it out of the park! You rose to the challenge when the opportunity arose to turf Winchester Field transforming four acres of nearly unusable space into an all-season recreation area our entire school could utilize. This transformation from natural grass to turf is a significant upgrade only possible with the generous donations of a group of lead donors, a substantial investment by the Paladin Athletic Booster Club, and your Annual Fund support.
We are blessed to have one of the most stunning baseball facilities in the greater-Atlanta area, and the upgrade to turf provides numerous benefits besides aesthetics. For our athletes, Winchester Field is now accessible year-round, allowing for consistent and reliable practice and game schedules. Turf is also known to enhance the performance capabilities of athletes by providing a safer, more predictable playing surface. For the greater school community, the sustainability of turf allows the space to be used by our elementary and middle school students for recreation and physical activity.
In addition to these benefits, the turf field requires less maintenance and is more durable than a natural grass field, making it a costeffective, long-term solution for the school. These attributes ensure that Paladin Park will be a beautiful, well-maintained space for years to come.
We are excited to watch the Paladins compete on Winchester Field and pleased to see students of all ages enjoying their new space. Thank you to everyone who contributed, allowing us to be good stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us.
Gym 1 is one of the more prominent, widely-used spaces on campus. Hosting a variety of middle school, JV, and varsity sporting events, art performances, and all-school assemblies, Gym 1 is, for some, an introduction to Fellowship. As with any introduction, one wants to make an excellent first impression. Therefore, we invested in several significant enhancements to G1. The refinished floors showcase our refreshed branding and provide a more competitive and functional playing surface for our Paladins. Additional upgrades include a complete repaint of the gymnasium and purchasing floor coverings to be utilized during events requiring chairs on the hardwoods. G1 is a space we can proudly call home as we welcome friends and guests alike.
Ensuring the safety of our whole community is a top priority at Fellowship, and we have invested in campus security in many ways over the years. With the 2021-2022 Annual Fund, we are happy to announce that we were able to finish fencing the entirety of our school campus! There is now a secure perimeter around all of Fellowship including the wooded area between our campus and Fellowship Bible Church.
When we updated our brand to more accurately reflect the heart of our covenant, Christian school, we established a multi-year plan to upgrade our signage, facilities, and transportation. Due to your generosity, we were able to make several updates in advance of our timeline. One such upgrade includes campus signage which now displays Fellowship’s refreshed brand. Fellowship families and visitors can easily navigate our lovely campus thanks to our updated signage.
As Fellowship expands, so do our transportation needs. To better serve our active school, two new buses were purchased to transport students to a variety of events including away sports games and field trips. The addition of these vehicles allows for greater flexibility with scheduling, and ensures that all our students can attend the many off-campus activities throughout the year. In addition to new transportation for our students, the Facilities Department was also a beneficiary of your generosity. Our facilities staff works tirelessly to maintain our lovely campus. To enable them to serve our community better and more easily navigate the property, an additional Gator utility vehicle was purchased.
An investment in our teachers is an investment in your children. Gifts to the Annual Fund enable our teachers to pursue specialized training and certifications that better equip them to serve the individual needs of their students. Just as each of your children has been uniquely gifted, so have our teachers. We are thankful for the opportunities you provide for them to enhance and refine their gifts as they seek to support your children. In addition to trainings, Annual Fund contributions provided for facilities upgrades and the purchase of much-needed resources like a new laminator and poster maker (ES).
Two especially exciting projects involved some very creative proposals from none other than your very own children:
As part of a High School Design class, students submitted proposals to redesign the teacher workroom. These students were asked to envision a space that was both welcoming and inspiring; they did not disappoint. Their vision became a reality when the teacher workroom was transformed from a sterile space of function to a serene retreat where teachers can take a moment to recharge or gather for a collaborative work session. Your gifts enabled these students to apply the skills they are learning in the classroom while experiencing the joy of blessing their teachers.
ES Art Teacher Melissa George created the Artisan Entrepreneurs class as the latest offering in our Spark and Ignite program. This class challenged our fourth and fifth-grade students to develop a product, write a business plan, design marketing collateral, and sell their product. To get funding, they had to pitch their idea to our “sharks.” Members of our administration attended the business meeting and agreed to be angel investors, seeding the class $1,000 of Annual Fund dollars to purchase the resources necessary to start their business. We are overjoyed to share that these students not only made back the initial investment but realized a nearly $5,000 profit which will be donated to charity.
While tuition covers expenses, Fellowship relies heavily on the generosity of our parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends. If you wish to support the covenant mission and vision of Fellowship, there are many ways that you can contribute to our success and continued growth. All gifts, no matter the size, directly impact our students, faculty, and staff as they help to create the environments and experiences that set Fellowship apart.
As Fellowship’s number one fundraiser, the Annual Fund provides for programming and educational enrichment projects not funded by tuition. What does that mean exactly? While tuition covers operational expenses, contributions made to the Annual Fund help finance projects that benefit the daily experiences of our students, faculty, and staff. Whether investing in new computers, professional development for our faculty, renovating a classroom, or completing construction that allows for our new dining services, the projects supported by the Annual Fund make a transformational difference for every student every day.
The Fellowship Legacy Fund will provide a permanent, sustainable source of funding for Fellowship. Gifts to the Legacy Fund serve as the principal that is invested, and each year a portion of the value of the fund is paid out to support the fund’s purpose. Any annual earnings above and beyond the distribution are reinvested into the fund, increasing its market value and its ability to provide support for its designated purpose into perpetuity. Each gift made to the Fellowship Legacy Fund helps to increase the principal investment and can be designated to support projects that align with the donors’ interests.*
Planned giving is simply arranging a gift now to be allocated at a future date. Through a will or trust, individuals can choose to designate Fellowship, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, as the beneficiary of retirement, insurance, stock, or mutual fund accounts.*
* Planned Giving and Endowment Giving work hand-in-hand. While donors may designate a planned gift from a will, trust, etc. to a capital campaign or other specified projects, those same gifts can also be designated for investment in an existing Endowment to allow the gift to live on in perpetuity.
Through Georgia’s Education Expense Credit, the GOAL Scholarship Program allows taxpayers to designate their tax dollars for the improvement of K-12 educational opportunities. Due to Fellowship’s partnership with Georgia GOAL, taxpayer contributions help to provide financial aid for qualified, covenant students, enabling them to benefit from a Fellowship education. In turn, taxpayers benefit by receiving a 100% Georgia income tax credit in exchange for their contribution.
While each source of funding serves a different purpose, both are equally crucial to Fellowship’s financial health and longevity.
What is it?
The Annual Fund runs July 1 through June 30 each year and raises over $500,000 toward the operating budget.
The endowment, comprised of invested restricted and unrestricted funds, helps Fellowship plan for a sustainable future.
How does it work?
Funds, typically used in the year given, are flexible, accessible, and used like a checking account to fund projects that support and enhance the educational experiences of our students.
The principal gift is invested and a small percentage is drawn each year for designated projects. This fund is steady and ongoing like a retirement fund, providing for future growth.
Where is it used?
The Annual Fund projects vary each year based on need. Funds may be used for technology enhancements, small construction projects, curriculum purchases, athletics, arts, STEM, and much more.
Endowment funds are most often used to support faculty development and compensation, financial assistance for deserving covenant students, and special academic programming.
