A NOTE FROM MUD 17 ABOUT DETENTION PONDS
Residents, “NO TRESPASSING” “DANGER KEEP OUT” These signs are there for a reason, please obey! No one is to be in or around the detention pond playing, riding their bikes or motorized vehicle, climbing or crawling in the pipes this is very dangerous. No trash or clippings of trees and grass is to be dumped in the pond. Any injury sustained while playing in or around the detention pond will be the responsibility of the parent. Anyone being in or throwing trash in the detention pond will be charged with Criminal Trespassing subject to a fine or jail by the Sheriff. These ponds are to help our subdivision in rain and flood. The detention ponds will hopefully help our homes from being flooded.
All street lights were checked and repaired. You can call in light outages by getting the pole number and calling Crest Management at 281-579-0761.
If you have any problems call 1-800-275-8777.
Trash pickup days are Tuesday and Friday every week. We would like to remind all of our subdivision residents that your trash (cans) should only be visible on these days. Trash left out for days has a tendency to be blown all over the neighborhood and can be a real eyesore. Thank you for helping keep our neighborhood clean.
Notice to Pet Owners
We love our community and so should you! Besides being a nuisance, uncollected dog waste is a serious problem for our Association. Next time you’re tempted to leave your dog’s droppings on the lawn, please remember these facts: • The Environmental Protection Agency is becoming aggressive about enforcing the Clean Water Act. Our Association could be fined if dog waste goes uncollected. • Uncollected dog waste may lead to a special assessment. If fined by the EPA, the Association could face a potential special assessment that would be levied against all members - not just dog owners. • The appearance and quality of the common areas are known to affect home sales - not just for how much they sell, but how quickly. • The more residents complain about dog waste, the more time the manager must spend on enforcement rather than serving the Association. • Uncollected dog waste spreads disease and attracts rodents who feed on pet waste. We love dogs - we really do. That’s why the association is committed to enforcing the county leash law on association property. According to the U.S. Humane Society, an unleashed dog has an average life span of less than four years. Allowing your dog to run free threatens your dog’s health and welfare and the happiness it brings to you.
We also love our community. That’s another reason the association is committed to enforcing the county leash law - so all residents may enjoy our community. We trust we can count on you for voluntary compliance with the leash law. We don’t like to call animal control, but we won’t have any choice if your dog is running free.

DIRECTIONS: In a medium bowl, whisk together the gelatin and boiling water until dissolved. Refrigerate until thickened to the consistency of egg whites, about 1 hour. When the gelatin is thick, whip the evaporated milk in a chilled bowl with chilled beaters until thick enough to form peaks like whipped cream. Fold the whipped milk into the gelatin. Rinse an 8 cup mold and fill with the gelatin mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight, or at least until set, about 4 hours.
DIRECTIONS: In a medium bowl, fold sour cream and unprepared pudding mix into the whipped topping. Cut the cake into thirds, horizontally. Line a large trifle or other glass serving bowl with kiwi and strawberry slices, reserving two whole strawberries and two kiwi slices. Place one layer of cake in bottom of bowl, top with 1/3 of bananas and pineapple, and 1/3 of whipped topping mixture. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used.

However, be sure to prune spring flowering shrubs after they have bloomed. • Fertilize with a pre-plant application of a slow-release fertilizer analysis such as 19 - 5 - 9 at the rate of 3 pounds per 100 square feet of garden planting area. Early March is the ideal time to fertilize landscape plants because you give them food just before the spring growing season starts.

Palm trees growing near power lines create unique issues. Unlike other trees, palms grow in a straight, vertical line, with a single growing point at the top of the tree. Because of this single-growth point, normal pruning techniques are not effective. With most trees, crews are able to direct the growth away from power lines using proper pruning techniques, but growth of palm trees cannot be redirected. If you choose to include palm trees in your landscape, CenterPoint Energy recommends a planting distance of 20 - 40 feet to reduce the risk of windblown fronds contacting power lines. Consumers should plant palm trees far enough away from power lines that no part of the tree ever grows within 10 feet of the line. CenterPoint Energy encourages you to plant the “Right Tree in the Right Place” by thinking about the mature height of a tree and its distance from power lines before planting. For more information on safe planting practices and a list of power line-friendly trees, visit CenterPointEnergy.com/trees.
who strive every day to be healthy, Light
CenterPoint Energy understands that the responsible planting of trees is a way to care for our environment and beautify our community, yet we are also committed to the safe and reliable delivery of electricity. Our professional tree pruning program is integrated into our daily operations to help make this possible. Trees that grow close to CenterPoint Energy’s electrical poles and lines will be pruned by a professional tree trimming company under contract with CenterPoint Energy. Any vegetation greater than 10 feet in height will be removed from high-voltage transmission line rights-of-way.

Additionally this market will give shoppers the opportunity to donate directly to a particular charity. Admission to Spring Thing will be free, and entry to the Preview Party is a donation of $10. For more information, click on www.umwspringthing.org or visit Facebook.com/SpringThingMarket for year round news and specific vendors.

2012 Folk life Festival
What was life like for the pioneers of early Texas? How did they Dress? What skills did they need to survive? Where did the children go to school? What kinds of animals did they own? These questions and many more will be answered for those who attend the 27th Annual Katy Folk Life Festival. The Katy ISD Outdoor Learning Center will be transformed into scenes of the late 1800’s, as many demonstrations and activities of pioneer life are recreated. Visitors will also be able to walk the nature trails, visit the duck pond, and see the displays and exhibits in the science and history classrooms. The Katy Folk Life Festival is a family fun event with interesting lessons in Texas History. Make plans to attend on Saturday, March 31, 2012, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM The Outdoor Learning Center is located at 6301 S. Stadium Lane, Katy, Texas 77494. Golf Tournaments Talan Holmes Charity Golf Classic
Many families, like the Holmes family, are unaware of TH and until delivery don’t know that their child has TH. Our goal, while still paying the medical expenses of Talan, is to help other families that may not have the ability to raise their own funds or simply can’t raise enough to get their child the prosthesis that he or she needs. The Golf Tournament is on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the River Ridge Gold Club, 3133 Brazos Oak Lane, Sealy, TX 77474. Registration begins - 6:30 AM, Breakfast - 7:00 AM and Event Start Time - 9:00 AM For more information about the tournament, sign up to be a sponsor and to register, visit www.birdeasepro.com/talan2012. THCGC is a 501c3 organization.
Seven Lakes High School Spartan Band and Colorguard Golf Tournament
The Seven Lakes High School Spartan Band and Colorguard will sponsor a Golf Tournament on Monday, March 26, 2012 at Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club in Seven Meadows. The 4 Player Scramble will start at 1:00 pm. Be a part of this inaugural event and you will have the chance to win a new car with a hole in one! A lucky team will have the opportunity to spend the day with KHOU Sportscaster Daniel Gotera, who will also be the guest speaker at an awards dinner following the tournament. Advertising opportunities will range from one-hole sponsorships to coveted space on the new Spartan Band Big Rig Trailer.
Talan Holmes Charity Golf Classic is a Golf Tournament that has one main goal. We are all about providing funds to a group of people who are born with Tebial Hemimelia (TH from here on). TH is a rare
malformation, 1:1,000,000 or lack of formation of the Tibia which is the weight bearing bone in the bottom of the leg. This tournament started out to pay the medical expenses of Talan Holmes, the tournament chairman’s son. Talan has undergone his first surgery and is now working with his first prosthesis trying to learn to walk.
