(CPV) POOL & PARKS COMMITTEE The pool opened its season with a bash from James Coney Island and a big Splash! As a reminder, the pool opened on May 5th for weekends only (Saturday & Sunday). It will be opened every weekend thereafter thru Monday, May 28th for the Memorial Day holiday and closed on Tuesday for cleaning. The pool will then remain open every day EXCEPT Mondays. Due to inactivity last year, the new pool hours will be from 8:00 AM to 9:00 pM.

New signs have been posted that NO food is allowed in or around the pool area. If you want to bring food for a group, you must eat at the picnic tables in the park area. NO group parties will be allowed. You will still be able to bring snacks underneath the pool canopy. Our volunteers spend a lot of their time cleaning up food messes left behind. This year, we may be losing some volunteers, so please assist in any way to keep the pool area clean. Also, we are looking for volunteers to assist in picking up trash around the green belt and park area. You may contact SCS if you want to volunteer and they will get in touch with the pool committee.

At the April 16th Westcreek Crime Watch Committee meeting, members visited the stone memorial site to view the commemorative plaque placed in Genevieve Fischerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s memory. Genevieve who passed away on January 17, 2012, was a valuable friend and neighbor. Her presence and input is missed at all the volunteer committee meetings she attended to make Westcreek a better place to live. Wayne, a member of the National Honor Society, has received both academic and athletic scholarships from CCU. Colorado Christian Head Coach Kevin Lubbers was also impressed with Wayne’s All-State Recognition and his contribution to the RCS Eagles State Semi-Finalist status earlier this year. The 6’4” point guard has led the Eagles basketball team in rebounds, assists, steals and 3-pointers. Colorado Christian University is a NCAA Division II university located in Lakewood, a suburb of Denver. CCU is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, which includes 14 universities. Wayne has attended Rosehill Christian School since kindergarten and has played football, baseball and basketball for the school. He has thrived under the coaching of RCS coaches Ed Lamar and Jonathan Whitson. He has also been playing for Lamar’s AAU teams. While he will miss the personal attention and encouragement from both coaches, he is excited about the prospect of playing for CCU.

He was chosen as this year’s team MVP in addition to making 1st Team All-District and Academic All-State.

H-E-B launched the Excellence in Education awards program in 2002 in cooperation with the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) as a positive way to support public education in Texas. In its 11 years, the program has generated more than $5.5 million to educators, schools and districts across the state. The Spring Trip to Dallas was a load of fun - supporting the jousting men of the sections at Medieval Times, dining at Hard Rock Cafe and playing at Fiesta Texas was enjoyment for all. This summer, the HFAC Actors Academy is offering 37 different 1 and 3-week performing arts camps for grades 1-12. HFAC camps run June 4 through August 26, 2012 and feature acting, singing and dance instruction as well as performance opportunities in musicals, dramas and comedies - especially designed for kids and teens! The HFAC Actors Academy 3-week Musical Theatre Performance Camps for grades 1-3 and 4-6 are A Year with Frog and Toad, Disney’s Cinderella Kids, Jack and the Giant, and Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids.
