Cy-Fair ISD & Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) November and December 2012 Events for our Treasured Volunteers: November 8th - VIPS General Meeting - 9:30 AM to 12 PM, Berry Center. Open to all CFISD volunteers, parents, staff and community members. Get the latest information on CFISD volunteering and learn ways to improve your volunteer program through networking with other volunteers in our district! November 27th - PIE Mentor Training - 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Berry Center. Training for individuals committed to serve as a role model and friend to CFISD students. There are no VIPS events scheduled for the month of December at this time. Be sure to check us out in January when the opportunities for volunteering are in full swing again. How to register for training: Register for training by emailing vipsrsvp@cfisd.net, the PIE office, provide your name and the name and date of the training you wish to attend. Registration is required to guarantee a seat and training materials. Adults only please.

Lessons Continue through December The Learning, Inspiration, Fellowship and Enrichment (L.I.F.E.) programs are free and held Wednesdays at 10 AM in the Lone Star College-CyFair Branch Library (Room 131). Programs in November include: “Sit and Be Fit” Nov. 14th and “The Think Factory” Nov. 28th. Programs in December are: “Kissed by an Angel” craft Dec. 5th and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” sing-a-long (Recital Hall ART 102) Dec. 12th. Programs will resume Jan. 9, 2013.  On stage in November are “Evita” Nov. 9th-Nov. 11th; “JazzChronicle” Nov. 16th and “BoleroandtheWorks” Nov. 20th; as well as student events including a Glee Club Concert Nov. 28th and a student performance troupe show Nov. 29th-Nov. 30th. In December are the “Popular Songwriting Concert” Dec. 1st and “the Messiah” Dec. 8th. Go to LoneStar. edu/boxoffice for tickets and event information. The Student Art Show will be in the Bosque Gallery on Nov. 27th through Dec. 6th, with a reception and awards ceremony set from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, Nov. 29th. Fairs Lone Star College-CyFair hosts several community mid-day events each month in the College Center. On Community Partners Day, from 11 AM - 1 PM, visit with community partners to see what goods and services they have to offer. The next Community Partners Day is Nov. 21st. At Job Connection Days (mini-job fairs), from 11 AM - 1 PM, bring copies of your resume, wear business attire and meet with area employers recruiting for immediate openings. The next mini-job fair day is Nov. 13th. Watch for Transfer Information Program (T.I.P.) Days when, from 10 AM - 1 PM, representatives from four-year universities are on campus to provide transfer information. The next T.I.P. day is Nov. 15th.
