Dear KREIA Members and Friends, As KREIA welcomes new leadership this month in the top officer positions, along with several new board members, this is my final month in office, and this is the 24th and final letter of my monthly newsletter contributions as the KREIA president. Two years ago this month I was sworn in as the new president in what I assumed would be a continua- Chris McCarty tion of the status quo – with the anticipation of serving, just as my predecessors did, to support our growing organization with its mission of education and networking opportunities amid the background of a prosperous real estate market. This term started out as usual but six months in, just like every other person, government and organization on the planet, KREIA was abruptly challenged by COVID. For us, our challenge was to pivot to virtual meetings and create new ways to communicate and serve our membership. One of the most outstanding and longtime traits of KREIA is the selfless “help the new folks” culture that has always welcomed new members. This is a club-wide culture. And though it begins with the rank-and-file membership, it is the officers and board members of the organization who methodically and each month keep the club efforts on track and focused on the mission.
KREIA, like the rest of the world, had to adapt and change to COVID and could no longer hold the in-person meetings and various monthly gatherings. The efforts of temporarily changing to online communications were challenging – sometimes more so than the physical meetings – and even as we have resumed our in-person meetings, we are a much better organization with more digital and online resources Continued on Page 4
