An untamed African experience awaits at Nkomazi Private Game Reserve, surrounded by towering mountains, broad river valleys and impressive grasslands.
This piece of land, south-west of the Kruger National Park, stretches out over 15,000 hectares and is home to a diverse ecosystem that supports both Highveld and Lowveld game species, as well as an abundance of bird-life. This makes for a unique game viewing and safari experience.
The lodge is characterised by the Komati River which continuously emits a gentle rumble. This reminder of one’s proximity to nature complements the tranquil atmosphere that is felt throughout Nkomazi Private Game Reserve.
Steeped in history, the reserve is home to some of the oldest rock formations on earth, embellished by ancient San rock art.
A ROOM WITH A VIEW
Our lodge is situated on the banks of the Komati River, providing guests with a true African glamping experience. The camp comprises fourteen state-of-the-art tents, each furnished in an “Out of Africa” style with all the comforts of luxury accommodation. The tents blend into the natural landscape and are linked by stoned pathways through the bush.

MAIN TENT
Guests are invited to enjoy an excellent start to their day over breakfast and to celebrate a day well spent over dinner in our Main Tent. Breakfasts comprise a selection of continental items and hot dishes, by order. Dinners include classic African-inspired dishes. Vegetarian options are also available.
Comfortable and relaxing chairs that are spread out at the Main Tent beckon guests to relax in this peaceful setting. Guests can make the most of this tranquil spot, reading, catching up with family or friends or simply taking in nature’s sights from the viewing deck. Guests meet here to enjoy a refreshing or warm beverages before game drives in the morning. Pre-dinner drinks are also served here.

A taste of Africa that exceeds expectations can be experienced at Nkomazi Private Game Reserve. Guests are invited to experience elevated bush dining with beautifully crafted meals, plated with a special touch. Meals are included in the rates and are enjoyed in the dining tent or in the boma as the weather allows.

GAME DRIVES
Nkomazi Private Game Reserve is a wildlife haven where great natural beauty and the 3.7 billion years of history meet. Nature lovers can share in the many wonders of Nkomazi; wildlife diversity and major geological finds. Interactive morning and evening game drives form part of the Nkomazi Private Game Reserve experience. These drives last up to three hours and guests are served tea or coffee at sunrise and a sundowner at sunset. Viewing diverse flora, including the Barberton daisy and the Protea also forms part of these journeys.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
FLY-FISHING & RIVER FISHING
Fly-fishing can be enjoyed along the 30km of the Komati River that winds its way through Nkomazi Private Game Reserve. This is an awe-inspiring and adventurous activity that is offered on a catch and release basis, at an additional cost and subject to weather and river conditions. Rangers are on hand to offer basic tuition and guidance.
STARGAZING
A breath-taking experience can be taken in during Nkomazi Private Game Reserve’s informative stargazing sessions, led by the reserve’s “star rangers”. Given the clean air and the fact that very little unnatural light competes with stars in this region, the sight of the night sky is truly spectacular. A closer look can be enjoyed through the reserve’s Celestron scope.

LOCATION
Mpumalanga, meaning "place where the sun rises," is one of South Africa's nine provinces, located on the eastern side. Renowned for its diverse fauna and flora, it hosts iconic attractions like Kruger National Park, Pilgrim’s Rest, Blyde River Canyon, and God’s Window.
The province is longitudinally divided into the cooler Highveld in the west and the subtropical Lowveld in the east, each experiencing distinct climatic conditions with frosty winters in the Highveld and milder winters in the Lowveld, accompanied by summer rainfall and refreshing thunderstorms.
