PROJECT 1 FORM PLAY - INTRO • Design Studio 1Form-play has opened up the potential and methods of making forms with different material properties through multiple exploratory workshops.

• The journey starts from Workshop 1, from a point, and continues to project lines, planes [2D] and inflate to volume [3D] and intangible dimension time [4D]. • Workshop 2 examines the basic sequence of the form, understands the design Principle, and continues to Form play with Operative design actions. • With enough form play, Workshop 3 can see the effect of form under the understanding of void. Solid & Void opened up the actual field of architectural design and space design.

WORKSHOP 1

• This is the first workshop that travels through different dimensions. I have explored the potential of the form from one point to another. One line connects another line, enclosing a plane into a threedimensional form.

P1C Next, in P1C, I have drawn and created these nine blocks into real models.

WORKSHOP 2

• Through the understanding of the basic dimensions of form, I learned the potential of form change and the knowledge of design principles in the second workshop

WORKSHOP 3

• Using the form completed in the previous workshop, I designed and cast a form that will reveal that the void is space. From the created space, we have to explore the quality of space, light and shadow, especially with the passage of time.

CONCLUSION I have understood the point, line, plane, operative design, and ordering principle in this workshop. Thus, I have learned how to draw a floor plan and section and cast a model.

PROJECT 2 PROCESS BOOK - INTRO

• Workshop 1 is about anthropometry. I need to observe two users and document their movements and interaction with the space. Draw out 15 different postures of the two users. • Workshop 2 is about scale. I need to make chairs, trees and humans in different scales. • Workshop 3 is about space respond, I need to accommodate & respond to the 15 postures by changing the form.

CONTENT • WORKSHOP 4 ANTHROPOMETRY WORKSHOP THE 2 USERS • WORKSHOP 5 AN EXPERIMENT WITH SCALE

• WORKSHOP 6 HOW SHOULD SPACE RESPOND

The 1:25 human is talking to his 1:50 wife on the other side of the building. The 1:25 human is trying to sit on the 1:100 chair but he finds out it is too small for him. The 1:5 giant is watching them and wondering why are they look so small.

The 1:25 human is resting on a 1:50 chair under 1:10 tree shade waiting for his son, while his son 1:50 is playing at the park.

The 1:5 human got stuck in a hole inside the park, his 1:10 son is reaching out his hand trying to rescue his dad.

Conclusion • I have understood the practicality of the space and how different scales of humans, objects, and space interact with each other.

PROJECT 3 TREE PAVILION - INTRO

• In this project we are going to design a single space tree pavilion for single user. We are divided in groups, each group will select one tree to further research. Select a user who uses this pavilion and accommodate user 3 main occasion of the day. Activities shall be able to carried out without additional loose furniture, which we will need to further operate your building-form in order to be achieve functional yet good spatial quality for each of these activities.
