Paragon Protection Ltd is a Canadian owned and operated security company that has successfully delivered professional uniformed security personnel, investigation services and security consulting since 1976. Paragon is the fastest growing security company in Ontario with more than 700 clients across the Golden Horseshoe and Northern Ontario, providing a full spectrum of security programs across multiple business sectors. Clients include Fortune 500, Fortune 100, real estate organizations, and large property management companies. Kevin Sanjari joined Paragon in 1987 and performed every job before becoming President in 2019 thus gaining extensive knowledge of what makes Paragon so successful. As a leader, he observed it is easier to align leadership teams and employees within small companies. With Paragon’s tremendous growth, he recognized the need to create written statements to guide decision making. Kevin believes the key to Paragon’s continued success and growth is to ensure all Paragonians are aware of, committed to, and passionate about the Pillars. Successful communication programs are relentless. It is no surprise to learn that every significant meeting and every training course begins with a review of the Pillars as a way to align every Paragonian behind these commitments to customers. This past year, all Paragonians have been engaged in a “Dialogue Series” during which they explore processes that can be improved. The first sessions were focused on the Pillar: Each Person Matters. The new guard orientation can be overwhelming at times. Guard candidates new to this industry are “drinking from the fire hose” as they go through basic security training, take the license test, then receive additional training specific to Paragon. Kevin and his teams worked together to identify ways that all Paragonians could assure new guards that Paragon has unique systems and people in place to reassure and support guards to succeed on the job. The second sessions of the Dialogue Series focused on the transition and transfer of issues and information between the day operational teams and night dispatch teams. Reducing the number of communication channels and overlapping the shifts has facilitated improved communications, reduced stress, and led to faster customer response times. To leverage the Pillar: Innovation, the teams under Kevin are empowered to be creative and challenge the industry status quo. The Paragon Professional Institute (PPI) was established in 1998 to provide a holistic, compliant, and practical security training to frontline security personnel. Ove the past two decades they have evolved through best practices and consulting with security subject matter experts and have developed over 100 training and certification programs for frontline security professionals. The team at PPI has delivered over 3.1 million courses in multiple learning platforms which consist of in classroom training, instructor led virtual training, and self-paced online training. Furthermore, the PPI team in collaboration with industry professionals and in partnership with major world class Universities have launched a new professional designation programs. The three-tiered certification program is designed to provide a competitive edge in the security market and is tailored to suit every level of experience. We are a boutique travel company that specialises in creating bespoke, custom, tailor-made travel within the Indian subcontinent. Each trip we create is crafted individually and has its own unique character and influence designed to appeal to the global traveller who is looking at a more immersive experience. Be it a family holiday, solo travel, a couple, business travel, LGTBQ, or a group tour we are focused towards creating a trip that is not just new, different or authentic but is outstanding to be a once in a lifetime trip. We believe in staying ahead of the travel trends and as a team are inclined towards identifying new authentic experiences and destinations. Our latest fascination is with sustainable river cruising experiences along the revered Ganges that not just allows you access to otherwise unapproachable destinations but also gives a unique perspective to it. Orange, was conceptualised in the year 2014 with an India office offering a selective range of intimate and inspiring journeys across the Indian subcontinent. Over the years we had repeat guests wanting to explore the Indian subcontinent beyond India with this we decided to expand our operations to SriLanka, Bhutan, Nepal and Mayanmar. To gain a more hands-on approach and to enable us to reveal the true-spirit of a region we decided to open offices in Sri Lanka, in the year 2016. With 4 regional offices across India, an office in Colombo for SriLanka and affiliate offices in Nepal and Bhutant we cover the Indian Subcontinent with ease. Over the last 7 years we have curated holidays for guests from over 50 luxury travel companies and consortiums from over 10 countires. I believe, we all have an inherent desire to travel,

its in our DNA and hence, Orange is the right choice for discerning as well as luxury traveller. Our primary source markets have been UK, Germany, Switzerland, Nordic Regions, France, South Africa, Russia, and Korea. With a growth in business from UK and around we decided to open a branch office in London that operates as an extension of our business partner’s offices to assist them with destination stories, product understanding, planning, itinerary connect and execution. While our primary source business market is UK, Europe and Scandinavia we witnessed a growth in 2019 from the American market too. There are 5 elements that we regard as the Orange strength: 1. & hospitality brands but I believe that the worst is over and travel is on its way to recovery. We were no exceptions and have had to restructure our teams and introduce new process and systems while working remotely. As travel is slowly yet surely opening up we are noticing a pent up demand for travel but one of our biggest challenge will be to be ensure the safety of our guests with regards to health & hygiene protocols. We have spent the last few months auditing hotels and small boutique experiences, training our service providers in the supply chain and brining in innovation with regards to experiences that can be more private.

an extended family and over the years we have grown together. The organisation encourages the team members to peruse their hobbies, talent and skill set. For instance - Ravinder (Rambo) is a fitness consultant and also runs a healthy food café, Ishveen is a certified PADI 3 diver. More recently during the current lockdown, I have successfully completed a certified course with Harvard X on Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies & another certified course from Wageningen University on Sustainable Tourism: Society & Environmental Aspects.

At Orange we are gearing up to reconnect with our clients, keeping the interest for the subcontinent relevant through interactions and above all putting in place stringent safety and hygiene checks. Another major complexity we face is with regards to sustainability is the mcdonaldization of its aspects. Our practices have already incorporated the usual - no plastic, waste free, reducing carbon footprints etc into our programs but are now more focused toward the societal and economic aspect of supporting the communities and certain less fortunate and privileged segments and wildlife organisations. Our team brings together a formidable and diverse mix of skill sets and experiences, each one is a seasoned traveler along with being a specialist in planning itineraries / trips but above all, they are all passionate about the Indian subcontinent and are eager to learn what it has to offer and they display a keen eye to detailing. Over the last year we have been viewing trends that revolve around travel that is ‘out of the ordinary’ or travel experiences that are authentic and connect you to the destination. We chose brands that added value to our business due to their business integrity and standards. In 2017, we decided to enhance the business by having an online presence. We always try to make sure the brands we offered weren’t available in other stores or online in the country. We chose to work with brands that respected the size of our country and not just expensive brands, but those brands that would be affordable to our customers and in 2020 we were so proud to be awarded Parent and Baby Award for the Best Online Baby & Toddler Products Marketplace in Qatar and Corporate Livewire Qatar Prestige Award for the Children’s Boutique Store of the Year. As the pandemic hit Qatar in 2020, and countries around the world went on partial or full lockdown, it made us realise the importance of having our brick and mortar store was just as important as having our website. First founded back in 2005, Bizkaia Talent is a non-profit organisation that was established with a very clear objective. That objective was to help foster an environment where the very best talent in Biscay, its capital city Bilbao and the wider Basque country would find the necessary conditions to thrive and to showcase their unique talents and characteristics on a global stage. As an organisation they’ve made quite a name for themselves and there have been some very significant milestones on the journey. In this edition we look into the reasons why they’ve made such an impact and look at the values that have underpinned the success they’ve achieved. From the outset they have worked closely with the Department for Economic Development of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia whose support through every step of the journey has been one of the foundations upon which their success has been built. Biscay, Bilbao and the Basque country in general has always been well known for the unique character and tenacity of its people. Sadly few, but some of the region’s talent has left the Basque country over the years in the pursuit of a platform that could help them fulfill their ambitions and replacing that talent with people from outside the region has been difficult. One of the objectives for Bizkaia Talent was to help facilitate the implementation of the necessary conditions for attracting, connecting and retaining highly qualified people in the areas of knowledge and innovation. Europe Most Innovative Fire Fighting Solution 2021 - Firexo - UK

that a solution which adversely affects the environment is not the best solution at all. The need for this type of eco-conscious problem solving has become more apparent in the wake of recent international wildfire events such as those in Australia and California.

UK based Firexo takes the confusion out of extinguishing fires. Pioneering solutions to the Fire Industry, Firexo is focussed on ensuring anyone could respond in the event of a fire emergency with a solution suitable for ALL fire types. Firexo provides user-friendly and sustainable fire extinguishers suitable to use on any class of fire regardless of one’s expertise. Until recently several different fire extinguishers have been necessary for tackling the varying types of fire, however Firexo’s all in one solution can be used on ALL fire types.

Last month saw the release of further ground-breaking news from Firexo following their successful testing against Lithium-ion fires at the RISE testing facility in Sweden. RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden AB), an independent, ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory) performed tests on both small and large multi-cell batteries, consisting of 30 individual batteries within a casing, and insulated. Thermal runaway of the batteries was observed before spraying Firexo onto the fires via an extinguisher. The test results indicated that Firexo lowers the internal temperature of a battery cell undergoing thermal runaway, reducing the size of resulting jet flames as well as inhibiting thermal runaway and temperature propagation in the cells; all critical factors in the suppression and control of lithium-ion battery fires. Dave Breith, CEO of Firexo Group reported “We are beyond delighted; the positive testing of these initial Li-Ion battery fire tests, means we can progress with further testing in the very near future and believe that the Firexo solution could become the product of choice for tackling Lithium-Ion fires.”

Previously the requirement of five different extinguishers each for use on their corresponding fire class, has caused extreme confusion, especially if in a panicfraught state that such an emergency can cause. Understandably, it may not be easy to remember which fire extinguishers are for oil fires and which are for electrical fires etc., especially without thorough training and the consequences of getting it wrong can be dire.

The demonstrable effectiveness of their technology is a product of the company’s dedication to stringent testing. It was designed in the 1990’s to resemble the playing area of a pinball machine. The park had become overgrown and unloved, however the team from Site Gallery had plans to make it a haven for artistic innovation and creation.

The gallery appointed world renowned artist, Florence Blanchard, to create an innovative design, that would encompass all the fixed structures within the park and would encourage a creative atmosphere for students alike. Structurally, the surface was extremely poor, and consisted of a resin bound surface of pea gravel, that was loose and suffered from years of surface movement and settlement. The different levels of the area were bounded by large concrete kerbs, which offered nothing of interest from a design perspective. The integrity of the original surface negated the opportunity to use traditional marking paints and funding was unavailable for complete removal and reinstatement. Preformed Markings were on hand to offer help and support in selecting a range of products that would achieve the desired effect and offer other enhancements to the area, in terms of surface stabilisation and slip resistance. After trials of materials throughout the site, Preformed Markings Ltd recommended an experienced contractor to complete the works to the client’s specification. All requirements have been achieved and the area has become a central meeting point for students and visitors to the area.

Dec 18 was a coincidence where Laureola revalued its portfolio upon discovery of aggressive life expectancy assumptions provided by the independent Life Expectancy underwriters. The revaluation was not linked to S&P 500 movements.

Dec 18 was a coincidence where Laureola revalued its portfolio upon discovery of aggressive life expectancy assumptions provided by the independent Life Expectancy underwriters. The revaluation was not linked to S&P 500 movements.

And not just an ‘I missed a few nights sleep and now I’m tired’ kind of exhaustion ... but the kind that is mentally, emotionally and physically debilitating. I knew I was unwell. I knew I was exhausted. I knew I needed to make some changes. But I did nothing and pushed on anyway. And then, I broke spectacularly. We give everything we have to everyone around us. We don’t ever stop to consider – or understand – what that means for our own emotional, physical and mental wellbeing. Until recently, it’s been a taboo subject to talk about. But thanks to the World Health Organisation redefining burnout in May 2019 – and the global pandemic bringing mental health firmly into focus – stress and burnout are now being openly spoken about. Globally, stress, exhaustion and burnout are rapidly rising, and the stats show that women are the most likely to suffer from them.

My work goes way beyond the generic solutions that have been offered for way too long. I don’t have answers for an individual’s specific problems – how could I? I don’t know all the things that go together to make them the unique individual that they are. What I do have, however, is a set of principles, tools and activities that allow individuals to understand themselves and create the solution that is perfect for them. This has created one of the greatest complexities for my organisation because I am unique in what I offer. It’s meant that I have needed to create tools and resources that can be delivered in a ‘one to many’ format whilst still allowing individual customisation by the end user. When people get access to my resources, their ability to grow and develop is accelerated because they’re able to take those resources and create a customised solution that matches what they actually need. There are two massive issues that individuals face when it comes to reducing the impact of stress, exhaustion and burnout in their lives. The first: almost every individual relies on the organisation they work for to provide them with training and development that will help them to reduce their stress. This is a problem because on the whole, the providers of these types of training tend to deliver it in a group format that doesn’t help the individual to find their own answers.

This allows people to find their own answers and create their own solutions. And it is crisis proof. While most of the world has collapsed under the strain of the chaos created by the pandemic, my business (and me within it) easily did the opposite. I was already operating in the online environment, so I moved more of my focus there and created bespoke online programs and keynotes, spending far less time in the face-to-face environment. Instead, I stepped into creating products, resources and tools that would assist people in re-centring their lives and being able to move forward in a different way.
