CAMPUS & FACILITIES

Our campus combines heritage-listed buildings with leading edge facilities, providing students with inspirational spaces that encourage and facilitate their learning.

Spread across 20 acres in Melbourne’s east, our campus also boasts newly refurbished sporting grounds, a gymnasium with firstclass equipment and multi-purpose sports courts. We also have other dedicated spaces for individual and group fitness activities.

The course is primarily delivered ‘face to face’ at Kingswood College, 355 Station Street, Box Hill, Victoria, Australia. Occasionally the course may involve delivery at offsite locations, such as during educational camps and excursions.

MIDDLE SCHOOL: YEARS

7 - 9

A new and exciting phase begins...

Kingswood College Middle School caters for students from Years 7 – 9.

After graduating from Junior School – and undergoing the physical transformation from childhood to adolescence – students in Middle School embark on an exhilarating new phase of their journey. Middle School students discover and refine their interests and talents –whether from Sports, Art, or Performing Arts. Middle School marks a fun, formative time for students to create and shape their future, achieve personal goals, nurture and develop their leadership qualities and participate and engage in a wide variety of curricular and co-curricular activities.

In Middle School, students start to build on their knowledge and experiences and are challenged to participate in a variety of enrichment programs and activities. Kingswood College provides students with a school curriculum for Year 7 and Year 10 based on “The Victorian Curriculum Foundation to 10” priorities and standards.

SENIOR SCHOOL: YEARS 10

- 12

Young adults, big futures...

Kingswood College Senior School is a dynamic learning environment for young adults in Years 10 to 12.

Kingwood College provides a senior secondary school curriculum based on the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS).

Preparing them for their future beyond the College gates, senior students are given freedom to make decisions about their career paths and are supported in their choices by wellbeing and classroom teachers, a careers counsellor, peers and family.

A pre-tertiary environment, the senior teaching and learning space has its own kitchen facilities, a lecture theatre, tutorial rooms and private study spaces, as well as central area for collaborating and socialising. Providing options to suit every senior student, we offer a breadth and depth of curriculum with approximately 30 subjects on offer from VCE and VETiS programs.

KINGSWOOD AS A PROVIDER OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION

Kingswood College operates under the legislative framework which comprises of the Education Services for International Student (ESOS) Act 2000 and the standards of the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to International Students (The National Code) 2007.

The ESOS Act 2000 is the principal Australian government legislation governing international student education in Australia. The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Reforms administers the ESOS Act and certifies provider compliance. The National Code provides nationally consistent standards for the conduct of registered international education providers and the registration of their course. These standards set out specifications and procedures to ensure that providers of international education and training courses can clearly understand and comply with their obligations under the National Code.

Kingswood College is required to ensure that international students are provided with relevant provisions of the ESOS framework throughout the span of the student’s enrolment.

Kingswood College is a listed provider on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS Provider No. 00150G) to provide Secondary Schooling to international students in Australia (CRICOS Course Code: 011348C).

Orientation Program

The College provides all international students with a comprehensive Orientation Program. Kingswood College will arrange airport transfers. The school offers airport transfers twice a year during school holidays (June & December), with an extra cost for additional transfers if students travel more than twice annually. All transportation drivers undergo WWCC checks to ensure safe travel.

As part of the Orientation Program students are accompanied by College staff to be fitted with their College uniforms, mobile phones are organised, set up a bank account and a familiarisation tour of the local area and how the transportation system works is provided.

Transition Program

Transition new international students participate in an extensive Transition Program to assist them to settle into life and studying in Melbourne and specifically at Kingswood College. The Transition Program is timetabled during the students first semester.

EAL Program

English as an Additional Language (EAL) All international students undertake study of the subject EAL to provide them with the necessary support and assistance to improve their understanding, comprehension and English-speaking skills.

Wellbeing Program

Of equal importance to the academic program at Kingswood College is the International Wellbeing Program –with its varied themes interweaving across the different sections of the College. As student progress through the College into the middle and senior years, they attend dedicated conferences and programs that facilitate deeper and more meaningful ideas and connections around personal and social wellbeing.

SPECIFIC STUDENT WELFARE & SUPPORT SERVICES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Counselling Support

Welfare and Counselling Support Service the College has counselling and support services located on Campus, but can also provide international students with access to bilingual counselling and support services as necessary.

Student Support

International student will be invoiced an annual fee of $3,350 as the local support charge.

Kingswood College international student support officers are our local support person for international students. The support officer’s role will be to help with individual student needs and provide 24/7 support from the time the student arrives at Kingswood College to the end of their final day at Secondary College.

All Students are made aware of personal safety issues, advised on safe travel practices and given a student safety card with 24/7 emergency contact details.

Monitoring Academic Performance, Attendance & Welfare

Parents of international students will be contacted at the end of each semester to provide an overview of

general performance of their child’s progress at the School. Parents may contact the International Student Program staff members who oversees international students, at anytime by phone, email for up to date information about their child’s progress.

All international students will be assigned to wellbeing coordinator who monitors their ongoing performance and wellbeing.

Visa Requirements

International students will be required to comply with all conditions of their student visa, which will include:

• Maintaining satisfactory attendance in your course as required by Kingswood College (being an attendance of at least 95%).

• Not being disruptive while in Australia.

• Make sure that the College can contact you if you’re absent.

• Live at the Homestay address approved by Kingswood College.

Tutoring

Kingswood College runs learning mentor program afterschool in the Library. The program is open for all international students. The mentors are comprised of Kingswood College graduates to work with the students in support their learning and provide more opportunities to achieve their personal best in academic pursuits.

Medical Insurance

Under the requirements of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) all student visa applicants will be required to undertake a health check to satisfy specific health requirements.

Overseas Student Health cover is required for each student for the duration of their course of study. Students are required to have Overseas Health cover for the entire period of their enrolment.

STUDENT ACCOMODATION & WELFARE ARRANGEMENT

POLICY & PROCEDURES

Kingswood College issues the Confirmation of Approved Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) letter to an international student accepting the responsibility for approving the accommodation, support and general welfare arrangements for a student who is under the age of 18, the School will not delegate, outsource or contract our that responsibility to another party.

The College will organise and place international students in school approved Homestay accommodation starting from Year 9, in accordance with the National Code 2018 and Victorian Child Safe Standards.

Students Under the Age of 13

Kingswood College strictly adheres to VRQA Guidelines and, as such, will not place an international student under the age of 13 years in Homestay accommodation. Kingswood College may consider students younger than 13 years of age for enrolment but such student must reside with a Department of Home Affairs (DHA) approved parents or relative.

Child Safe Standards

Where Kingswood College enrols a student who is under 18 years of age, it will meet the Victorian Child Safe Standards requirements relating to child welfare and protection. Kingswood College will ensure students under 18 years of age are given contact information in emergency situations, including:

• The 24 hour emergency contact number of the International Student Coordinator and another staff member of the College.

• Seeking assistance and reporting any incident or allegation involving actual or alleged sexual, physical and other abuse.

If students or parents have any concerns about the safety of a child or suspect that a child is being abused they must report it immediately to the International Student Coordinator.

Homestay

The College ensures all adult Homestay family members have a Working With Children Check and trained in and have read and agree to abide by Kingswood College Child Safe Policies. The College has appropriate process for recruiting and screening Homestay families, including an in-person interview with adult host family members residing permanently in the home.

The International Student Coordinator and another member staff of the College will verify, in person, by visiting the premises, that the student’s accommodation is appropriate to the student’s age and needs prior to the accommodation being approved and at least every six months thereafter.

The school has evidence that a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) has been obtained for any person aged 18 or over residing in the home.

The home providers a safe, secure, private bedroom for the student’s sole use with suitable storage space for clothes, personal effects and study materials, and suitable facilities including a desk, a chair and adequate lighting for study purposes.

The home is clean and has appropriate furnishings suitable for a family and the students.

There is access to a shared or private bathroom, with reasonable time allowed for showers.

There is access to kitchen, living areas, laundry facilities and shared areas of the home.

There is some form of heating in winter if required and some means of cooling in summer.

Students are to be provided with any keys, alarms or passwords required to have free access to the homestay residence.

The ability to conduct assessment of the Homestay with access to all areas of the Homestay premises for the purposes of checking compliance with the Homestay standards required by the school. All stakeholders can contact International Student Coordinator via the 24 emergency number in the event of an emergency.

Staying with Relatives

Where Kingswood College enrols an international student who will reside in the care of close family relatives

approved by the Department of Immigration, the College will meet with the nominated relative in person and provide the relevant information about the College, including any obligations of parents/guardians of enrolled students.

Monitoring Homestay

School monitors students who are placed in homestay accommodation and maintain regular contact with providers of the accommodation to ensure the student’s successful adjustment to life and study in Victoria.

School is required by law to conduct site inspection at least twice per year to ensure that student needs are being met. This requirement is in addition to any reviews that may be conducted by a homestay referral service.

Breach of Student

Kingswood College reserves the right to move a student in the event that either a student or Homestay host does not conform to the Kingswood

College Student Accommodation and Welfare Arrangements Policy and Procedures. Refer to the College website for a copy of this policy.

SCHEDULE OF FEES YEAR 2025INTERNATIONAL

The following schedule of fees has been approved by the College Council to apply for 2025.

A semesterly State Government Levy of $760 per student will be applied.

LOCAL SUPPORT FEE

A fee of $3,255 is payable for the local support service. This is a comprehensive service that assists international and EAL students at the College with their day-to-day wellbeing, welfare, social and academic progress, transportation to the airport and key events, and provides bilingual assistance to communicate with students, parents and teachers.

CONSOLIDATED CHARGE

To overcome the need for students to bring cash to the College and to reduce numerous extras being billed to accounts, a consolidated charge is levied to cover items including annual camps, excursions, sports buses and the sport program, locker padlocks, outdoor education programs (Years 7 - 10), Hoodie (Year 12), visiting lecturers and artists, student accident insurance and special programs at various year levels. The consolidated charge also covers the provision of ICT resources to students.

Annual tuition fees and consolidated charges do not include accommodation, uniforms, books and stationery, extra private lessons, medical expenses, Medicare levy or travelling costs.

VCE EXAM ENTRY FEES

Students in Years 10, 11 & 12 are required to pay VCE exam entry fees. This is not a payment to the College but is collected on behalf of each student for payment to the Board of Studies who co-ordinate VCE exams. This amount will be added to the account in addition to the above schedule of fees.

TERMS OF PAYMENT

Upon acceptance of a place at Kingswood College, payment for the first instalment of fees (half of total annual fees) is required.

(i) Fees in Advance

Parents may elect to pay fees annually in advance and receive a 3% discount off the Total Annual Fees shown on this schedule. Payment must be received by the College no later than Friday 25 October 2024 5.00pm to be eligible for this discount.

CAMPS AT KINGSWOOD

An essential aspect of all our camps is our commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that every student feels welcomed and supported in our community.

In pursuit of this goal, we have crafted each camp, offering a spectrum of engagement levels empowering students to cultivate resilience at a pace that aligns with their individual needs and preferences.

YEAR 7

In Term 2 our Year 7s embark on their first secondary school camp, an exciting journey where they can build connections and friendships in coastal town of Portsea. Over two nights and three days, students will participate in activities such as hiking, climbing, and canoeing, providing opportunities to learn more about each other. The primary objective of this camp is to foster strong connections and a sense of belonging with our Year 7 community.

YEAR 8

Our Year 8s venture to Wilson’s Promontory in Term 1 providing them with a true camping experience. They will learn essential skills like pitching tents and cooking food together in small groups. This camp places emphasis on building resilience and challenging our students to ‘do hard things’. Notable highlights include learning to surf and enjoying quality time with friends.

YEAR 9

Our Year 9s head off to Warburton in Term 1. Working in collaboration with the Warburton Adventure Company, students have a tailored bespoke program that caters to their growing independence. Students are based at the scenic Oscar’s on the Yarra, setting the stage for an array of activities to challenge each student to strive for their best. From invigorating hikes to thrilling river sledding, this adventure promises to be unforgettable!

AV CREW

The Audio-Visual (AV) Crew offers gifted students a unique opportunity to develop technical expertise, creativity, and problem-solving skills in a hands-on learning environment. Through involvement in video production, sound design, lighting, and editing, students gain practical experience while enhancing their communication and teamwork abilities.

It fosters critical thinking by encouraging students to apply innovative solutions to real-world media challenges, preparing them for future studies or careers in media, film, and digital production. With opportunities to work on school events, broadcasts, and creative projects, the AV Club provides an engaging space where gifted students can refine their skills, collaborate with peers, and explore their passion for media and technology.

CHESS

The Chess Club provides students with a stimulating and supportive environment to develop strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and resilience. Through structured learning, friendly matches, and competitive play, students enhance their concentration, decision-making, and logical reasoning abilities. The club caters to all skill levels, offering training workshops, in-school tournaments, and opportunities to compete against other schools. Beyond the game, students build confidence, patience, and sportsmanship while engaging with like-minded peers. Whether playing for fun or striving for competition, the Chess Club fosters intellectual growth and a love for lifelong learning.

CHINESE-ENGLISH CONVERSATION

The Chinese/English Conversation Club offers students a fun and interactive way to enhance their language skills while making new friends. Through casual conversations in both Chinese and English, students gain confidence in

speaking and listening, improving their fluency and cultural understanding. The club also includes hands-on activities like lantern making and calligraphy, giving students the chance to explore Chinese traditions in a creative and engaging way.

DEBATING

The Debating Club challenges students to think critically, communicate effectively, and defend their ideas with confidence. By engaging in structured debates, students learn to research complex topics, construct persuasive arguments, and respond to opposing views with clarity and logic.

The club nurtures confidence in public speaking, quick thinking, and teamwork while fostering respectful discussion and active listening. With opportunities to compete in both in-school and external competitions, students refine their ability to analyse issues from multiple perspectives and develop strong leadership and advocacy skills.

E-SPORTS

The Esports Club provides students with an exciting and supportive environment to develop teamwork, strategic thinking, and hand-eye coordination through competitive gaming. By participating in training sessions and in-school competitions, students improve their skills in various games, learn how to analyse and adapt their strategies, and collaborate effectively with teammates. The club fosters resilience, communication and focus.

HUMAN POWERED VEHICLE TEAM

The Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) Team offers students a unique opportunity to engage in the design, construction, and racing of vehicles powered solely by human effort. This hands-on experience fosters teamwork, innovation, and practical engineering skills. Students collaborate to create efficient, aerodynamic vehicles, applying principles of physics and engineering in real-world scenarios.

Participation in events such as the Energy Breakthrough in Maryborough, Victoria, allows

students to test their creations in competitive settings, promoting resilience and problem-solving abilities. Through these activities, students gain valuable insights into sustainable transportation and renewable energy technologies, preparing them for future studies and careers in engineering, design, and environmental sciences. Students must apply for the team.

INTERACT

The Interact Club is a vibrant community where students come together to make a meaningful impact through service and social activities.

Open to all students, regardless of the size of their contributions, the club organises a variety of events throughout the year, including Food Drives, Donation Drives, Bake Sales, Harmony Day events, and Christmas Card Deliveries, all in support of local, national, and international charities. By participating, students develop leadership skills, foster a sense of global citizenship, and build lasting friendships with peers who share a commitment to service. The club’s enthusiastic members warmly welcome newcomers, ensuring a

supportive and engaging environment for all.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS ASSEMBLY

The Model United Nations (MUN) Club offers students a unique and enriching opportunity to engage with global issues and international diplomacy. Through participation, students develop a strong understanding of the workings of the United Nations and the complexities of international relations. They can take on the role of a delegate, actively engaging in debates and negotiations, or contribute as part of the research and background team, helping to craft speeches and brainstorm ideas.

MUN encourages the development of critical life skills such as public speaking, collaboration, and problemsolving, all while fostering global awareness and empathy. This experience provides valuable insight into global affairs, preparing students for future careers in politics, law, and diplomacy.

PRIDE

The Pride Club provides a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for students to celebrate their identities, foster self-acceptance, and build strong connections with others. This club focuses on promoting understanding and respect for all members of the LGBTQ+ community, encouraging open dialogue, and creating opportunities for students to learn about diversity, equality, and inclusion. By participating, students not only gain confidence and advocacy skills but also become part of a community that celebrates individuality and supports one another.

SCIENCE CLUB

The Year 7/8 Science Club offers students an engaging and interactive environment to explore their curiosity and develop essential scientific skills. Students will have the chance to investigate scientific concepts, and design and construct projects, all while deepening their understanding of science. The club provides a fun, supportive space for students to grow their problemsolving abilities and work

collaboratively with peers. With a focus on exploration and discovery, the Science Club fosters a love for learning.

TABLE TOP ROLE PLAY

The Tabletop Role Play Club offers students a structured and engaging environment to develop a range of skills through the creative world of tabletop role-playing games (RPGs), such as Dungeons & Dragons. By participating, students enhance their storytelling abilities, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills as they work together to navigate complex scenarios and challenges.

2025 MUSIC ENSEMBLES & PROGRAMS

MUSIC ENSEMBLES

Our students have numerous opportunities to develop their musical talents. In addition to an extensive music classroom program, they can learn to play a wide variety of instruments and be part of the school’s many ensembles and bands. Experiences in rehearsing and performing in a group develops a social dynamic that helps students develop a sense of purpose, achievement and self-discipline. More importantly, is the bond that develops among young musicians and the enhanced quality of life that results from a meaningful engagement with music as well as an understanding and appreciation of music.

CONCERTS & RECITALS

Concerts take place throughout the year. Whole College concerts include the Open Night, the Showcase Concert and the annual Celebration evening. There is also the Choral Spectacular which will be held in the second semester, and Junior School Soirées which take place regularly throughout the year, in the afternoons. Most of these concerts feature a large range of soloists and/

or ensembles from the College. In addition to these large concerts, there are a number of smaller assembly performances and lunchtime concerts. Students must attend concerts in which they are performing, and should be present for the whole duration of the concert. This is important because the concerts are often deliberately planned to show ensembles of varying degrees of development and it is of benefit to younger students to gain inspiration from our more senior students.

COLLEGE CHOIR

The College Choir is unauditioned and is open to all students from Years 7-12. They perform at all major College functions and study a broad range of repertoire. They enjoy performing classical repertoire, popular repertoire, and everything in between! They are always excited by opportunities to broaden their stylistic range. The ensemble exposes keen singers to a foundation of music knowledge, teaching musical skills in a fun and friendly environment.

CANTABILE

Cantabile is an auditioned Soprano/ Alto choir. This choir studies more complex repertoire and demands a high level of commitment and music literacy. The students perform at major College events and community functions.

JUNIOR SCHOOL CHOIR

The Junior School Choir aims to foster an enjoyment of music. The Choir is voluntary and open to all students from Years 3-6. The ensemble enables students to experience the basic elements of music whilst learning fun songs.

PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE

The Percussion Ensemble was created to give percussion students at the College the opportunity to explore the wide range of possibilities that exist in an ensemble setting, for both tuned and untuned percussion instruments

2025 MUSIC ENSEMBLES & PROGRAMS

ROCK ACADEMY

The Kingswood College Rock Academy provides all students from Years 7-12 with the opportunity to get involved in playing in rock bands, under the direction of a team of experienced, professional musicians. The Academy allows students to experience playing with different combinations of instruments and with different combinations of students, across many rock genres, to improve their musical adaptability and broaden their knowledge and experience.

The Rock Academy is a large program, intended to accommodate all interested students. The bands developed within the program will work towards performances in the second half of the school year.

STRING ENSEMBLE

The String Ensemble is an auditioned chamber group, which enjoys performing pieces across a number of different musical styles. This gives students the opportunity to work more closely on their musicianship and ensemble skills. A sense of teamwork and enjoyment is achieved when they work together to create a great sound.

TINY TREBLES CHOIR

The Tiny Trebles Choir is a compulsory choir for all students in Years Prep-2. Rehearsing in a choral group encourages a wonderful social dynamic and gives the young beginners a sense of purpose and discipline, ultimately enhancing their appreciation for music.

TOMFOOLERY

Tomfoolery is the College’s Tenor/ Bass choir, and was created in 2018. This ensemble provides members of the College community (students, staff and parents) with the opportunity to come together and sing in a four-part.

YEAR 7 BAND

The Year 7 Band is formed from all students learning either flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone or percussion in the Year 7 Classroom Instrumental Program. This is a large beginner band, intended to assist students in improving rhythmic awareness and fostering ensemble skills.

YEAR 7 STRING ENSEMBLE

The Year 7 String Ensemble is formed from all students learning either violin,viola or ‘cello in the Year 7 Classroom Instrumental Program. This is a beginner ensemble, intended to assist students in improving rhythmic awareness, developing improved tone quality and fostering ensemble skills.
