Fourth and Fifth Year
We follow the AQA specification which allows students to specialise in either acting or theatre design The course combines practical and written exploration of texts, devising original theatre and live theatre
Lower and Upper Sixth
We follow the Edexcel specification in Drama & Theatre, and students can opt to focus on acting or theatre design. Results specification in Drama & Theatre, and students can opt to focus on acting or theatre design Results are outstanding and a number of students go on to study Drama and Theatre-related degrees at university In recent years we have also been successful with students winning places at prestigious drama schools
Drama Scholarships (Sixth Form only)
We aim to provide a range of co-curricular opportunities for all students, and to facilitate excellence in productions
This production is open to anyone in the Sixth Form Recent productions have included the musical Made in Dagenham, Rhinoceros, 13, Nell Gwynn and Earthquakes in London Casts and crew average around 40 students
This production is open to Fourth and Fifth Year. Recent productions have included A Midsummer Night's Dream, James Graham's The Vote, Great Britain and Love and Information.
This production is open to Second and Third Year. It is always a lively and exciting production with outstanding sets, lighting and costumes. Recent productions have included Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Oliver Twist.
Throughout the year, exam groups and Drama Scholars have the opportunity to present their work to their peers.
Students from all years compete to win the coveted title of House winners.
This will be a one-night-only performance in the Summer term where First Year students will have the opportunity to perform in a variety-style show including songs, monologues, acting scenes and dances
Every two years we offer Sixth Form students the opportunity to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival Clubs
Beginners' Technical Club - lighting, sound, stage management, costume, props and set design.
Advanced Technical Club - students support productions by designing and operating all technical elements.
The Junior Drama Club - fun, lively and informal and allows anyone from the First to Third Year the opportunity to improve their improvisation and performance skills. It is often run by our Drama Scholars.
Fringe Theatre Club - students are encouraged to select performances in local fringe venues, watch independently and discuss in an informal 'book club' style environment.
We offer LAMDA examinations for students in all year groups, from Grade 1 to Gold Award. The classes are run by visiting teachers.
