October - December 2023

WELCOME

Winter is behind us and it’s time to explore our neighbourhoods. There’s no better starting point than our great libraries and with so much on offer you won’t be disappointed.

For all you avid readerslocal writer Claire Halliday is in conversation with popular singers Vika and Linda Bull about their memoir No Bull and debut authors Steph Vizard and Alli Parker are talking about their exciting new novels The Love Contract and At the Foot of the Cherry Tree.

If books aren’t your thing, how about getting a little more hands on?

CELEBRATING SENIORS FESTIVAL

Learn traditional weaving with First Nations Koorie woman Taylah Eid or learn to play chess –you know you’ve always thought about it!

Are you interested in tracing your family history? We’re running a fascinating introduction to conducting the necessary research.

For those of you lucky enough to have a holiday on the horizon, a great ‘Travel with Technology’ session will take you through essential apps, using your smartphone and tablet overseas and so much more.

Throughout October our libraries have a range of events for our 55+ year olds as part of Seniors Festival – author talks, workshops, info sessions and more!

For our junior Kingstonites there’s a Halloween spooktacular at Clarinda Library and some spooky craft fun at all open libraries on 28, 29 and 30 October.

I have barely scratched the surface. Read the booklet, choose something wonderful and get out there and enjoy!

Vika and Linda Bull began their careers as backing singers and collaborators to some of Australia’s biggest artists. Their unflinchingly honest memoir, No Bull, sees the sisters reflect on the highs and lows they’ve navigated across three tumultuous decades in the music industry, from growing up as dark-skinned girls in 1970s Doncaster, to stepping into the spotlight (and confronting some personal demons in between).
