After Provence
BY TINA BLACKWELL, STELLA GREIG, PAULA LINDLEY AND GIHAN SADEK After Provence is a group exhibition inspired by the recent travels of artists, Tina Blackwell, Stella Greig, Paula Lindley and Gihan Sadek through the South of France.
Exploring the rich histories of the local region, the artists have wandered in the footsteps of Impressionist Masters: Cezanne, Picasso, Monet and Van Gogh to explore their own sense of colour, technique, and expression. Opening night: Thursday 19 March, 6 – 8pm

Metamorphoses: Changes and stages in women’s lives
BY SHARON MONAGLE AND ROSE LUCAS What are the key points of transition in a woman’s life?
Working synergistically, visual artist Sharon Monagle and poet Rose Lucas examine the rich interplay between image and text, exploring themes of change and growth in the lives of women through paintings, poetry, and spoken-word performance.
Sharon Monagle is an abstract expressionist and figurative artist. Rose Lucas is a published poet and academic at Victoria University.

Formerly Née

Formerly Née is a contemporary exhibition by Arts Grant recipient and visual artist, Jacqui Gordon.
The project follows the artist’s journey to connect with her maternal lineage by posing the question, ‘What would my surname be today if the tradition were to take my mother’s name?
Through a series of installation, text and video works, the exhibition draws upon real and imagine narratives to create a feminist collection of herstories and rediscover the stories left behind. Opening night: Wednesday 13 May, 6 – 8pm

The City of Kingston invites individual artists, not-for-profit art groups and organisations to apply for an Arts Grant 2020-21.
Arts Project ($1,000 to $5,000) This grant is for art projects that extend professional artists’ practices. Open to emerging and established artists and art groups. Projects must take place in the City of Kingston between August 2020 and June 2021.
Community-based Art Project ($500-$5,000) This grant is for projects that involve the full participation of community members. Open to artists, community arts workers and community groups. Projects must take place in the City of Kingston between between August 2020 and June 2021.
Arts Mentorships and Residencies ($500 to $1,000) For the professional development of arts workers. Applicants must reside in Kingston.

There are four, open-plan studio spaces available for hire at Kingston Arts Centre. The studios are suitable for artists working in ‘low-risk’ mediums, such as drawing, illustration, digital design, painting, textiles, craft, small sculpture, or writing.
