Dear Kings' School Nad Al Sheba community, The Book is a snapshot of the highlights and memorable events of the year, and a record of the students and staff members who were centre to growth, enrichment and celebrations in our community in 2022-23.
I hope it will remind you of time spent with friends and making memories, the new people you met, our diverse cultures, our sports events, cultural showcases, performing arts events, and your year of learning and striving to do your best in all that you do.
Our blend of cultures, our curriculum design and enrichment, and our Kings' values ensure we maintain a happy and relaxed atmosphere where children can thrive and excel, enjoy
their education and fulfil their goals. We have so many events to share and celebrate, and each and every one is unique and memorable in it's own right, from our Let's Learn showcases, Litfest and Languages Day, to the Fifty Dirham Challenge, our proud celebration of Flag Day, and of course, our show-stopping UAE National Day.
We have so much to be proud of as a community, and as one more year draws to a close I am thankful for all our students, staff, parent community, the academic and admin teams, and our support staff, each and every one of our community contributes to a school that we are so immensely proud of.
Kerry Dalton PrincipalAs I reflect on my time since joining the Secondary team in February this year, I must say that it has been an incredibly rewarding experience.
The students and parents I have had the pleasure of meeting have warmly welcomed me into the Kings' School Nad Al Sheba community, and I am grateful for their support and enthusiasm.
A significant milestone in our development as a Secondary school was the successful organisation of our first GCSE options evening. This event marked an important step forward, as it allowed our Year 10 students and their parents to make informed decisions about their educational pathways. We are excited to implement our new future-ready focused curriculum for Year 10 students and guide them as they explore their true passions and consider their future career choices.
Perhaps most thrilling of all is the progress of our new Secondary building, which is swiftly taking shape amidst the sand. The anticipation
surrounding this construction is palpable, as it promises to provide our students with state-of-the-art facilities. The new Design Technology and Science labs will offer exciting opportunities for our young scientists to hypothesise and experiment. Our Food Technology specialists will have a dedicated space to design culinary masterpieces that tantalise taste buds. Furthermore, our future design engineers will be able to bring their imaginative concepts to life in a world-class workshop area. Walking through the corridors of this new building will undoubtedly be a joy, witnessing the curiosity, creativity, and ingenuity of our students first-hand.
Looking ahead, I am filled with optimism for the future of our Secondary school. We are eager to continue our journey together, embracing the spirit of Kings' in our new and improved environment. The upcoming year holds tremendous potential for our students, and I am confident that our dedicated team of educators will guide and inspire them to reach new heights.
Scott Johnson Secondary HeadteacherAs the academic year draws to a close, and we take a moment to reflect on all that we have achieved this year, I find it difficult to know where to start in summarising the astonishing efforts and achievements of students and staff alike.
This is why I cherish 'The Book', it gives us the opportunity to flick back through the months gone by and to enjoy, once again, the moments shared.
My favourite part of the day is standing at the school gates welcoming students in the morning. As our campus continues to grow, so does the need to open more gates and the ability to be in three places at once is something I am working on! Nonetheless, this remains the best way to start each day, sharing high-fives and beaming smiles as students hop, skip, and jump into school.
“Every day should be an adventure”. I recall sharing this adage with our talented team of
teachers at the beginning of the year and feel proud of how they have achieved this. They continue to plan and design the most inspiring learning journeys for our students to enjoy and this really enables learning to stick. The variety of hook days, celebration assemblies, and Let’s Learn moments are too many to list, but the efforts that go in to these do not go unnoticed.
From our extensive extracurricular programme, residential trips, pop-up musical celebrations, Kings' Got Talent showcase, Dubai 30x30 initiative, KSNAS Litfest, and phenomenal Arts Week to name a few, our thriving campus has never been richer with opportunity, and the array of student celebrations and achievements continues to stretch across, and beyond, the curriculum. Our students truly are a credit to us.
I look forward to welcoming all our new and familiar faces at the school gates in the new academic year and to seeing what 2023-24 will bring.
Jamie Efford Deputy HeadteacherIt was wonderful to welcome so many new staff members to Kings' School Nad Al Sheba this academic year.
They joined us from all corners of the world, and their skills and talents are a great addition to the Kings' family.
On behalf of us all, we hope you enjoyed your first year with us!
At Kings' School Nad Al Sheba, we are fortunate to have a significant number of long-standing staff members.
Loyal and committed employees are the foundation to any successful organisation
and we appreciate their contribution and dedication year on year. For all those staff members who reached their 5, 10, 15, or 20-year milestone with Kings' this academic year, we were thrilled once again to present a gift of our appreciation.

My name is Mahra and I am Head Girl of this spectacular school.
I have been in this school for seven years, so quite some time! Everybody here welcomed me with open arms and I will forever cherish the relationships I have formed.
I cannot emphasise enough how great this school makes me feel and I'm confident that every student who learns on this campus will also experience and appreciate the inclusivity and personal touch this school offers.
I love every subject, from Art to Arabic! There is such a wide range of opportunities across the curriculum and even before and after school with extracurricular activities too. My favourite subject is Art because I can learn to explore different mediums and
let my creativity go wild! Every year I see improvement in all my subjects and look back fondly at all the fun events, such as sports day, where I broke two school records! I particularly love National and International day, they are so much fun. As an Emirati, I feel proud to share my cultural traditions with others and am equally keen to embrace and observe other traditions.
This school not only makes me happy but has really helped to build my confidence to the point I have delivered a speech to the whole school, something I never thought I would do! And I can't begin to list all the new facilities and upgrades that are being added to our campus that I am excited about, such as a new secondary building and athletics provision.
I am excited for secondary!
Mahra Alrayhi Alaleeli Primary Head GirlI was proud to be given the honourable role of Primary Head Boy this year.
My experience over the past six years has shaped me into the person I am today and given me the confidence to know the person I want to be in the future. Kings’ has given me so many opportunities for growth and development, and the teachers have given me the tools to help me face and overcome many challenges.
For example, when I decided to grow my hair out for 'Kids with Cancer'; everyone in the school community was incredibly supportive, and I found that I could do and achieve anything I set my mind to.
Kings’ has a very personal and engaging education programme where every student has the opportunity to flourish and meet their
individual potential. My journey has been amazing with opportunities to explore and be imaginative in every subject. In Maths, my teachers pushed me outside my comfort zone, which really helped me to achieve great heights.
In the Arts, I was given the encouragement and platform to perform, enhancing my skills and boosting my confidence immensely.
Through the sports and ECA programme, I have represented the school and, for those not wanting to complete, they had opportunities to take part in friendly matches and training sessions.
Rayden Pereira Primary Head BoyI have thoroughly enjoyed my year as Secondary Head Girl. It has helped me build my confidence and grow as a person.
This year, as a junior leadership team, we have worked on various projects and created events for students to enjoy, which was a great experience. I helped plan a cinema afternoon, a trivia event, and a chess competition – I was proud to see that they were all a great success!
I felt particularly proud representing the school during our open evenings and enjoyed the experience. I had the opportunity to meet prospective families, tour the campus with them, and introduce them to our academic teams. I also helped to create a presentation that was delivered to visitors on the day. I loved discussing all the amazing things
about our school, especially the new secondary building.
Teachers at Kings' always strive to broaden our horizons, encouraging us to try new things and reach our potential. The school has so many opportunities for us to do this within and beyond the curriculum, and offers a wide variety of leadership positions for those interested in helping to develop our school.
Tala Samarah Secondary Head GirlI was honoured to be Head Boy this academic year. It has been a great experience and I feel that I have developed as an individual and as a student.
I joined other members of the junior leadership team in representing the school during open days and it was very exciting to share all our upcoming campus enhancements with them.
As a leadership team, we planned a dedicated Student Leadership Week, with activities and engaging learning experiences to help inspire and help students persevere and be resilient.
The week consisted of a Movie Day and a Board Game Day among other initiatives to help students discover and learn.
It has been wonderful to be on the leadership team this year.
Eshaan Kanabar Secondary Head BoyKings' has taught and led me through every opportunity I could dream of. I believe every student here has the opportunity to exceed their expectations.
Across all subjects, we are taught to effectively communicate, reach out of our comfort zone and think outside the box. PE is my favourite subject, I enjoy basketball, rugby, netball, and badminton, and have the opportunity to join ECAs in these sports as well as competitive squads.
As a Persian, Arabic and Islamic studies are especially valuable to me and I am so proud of my improvement and achievement in this area.
Zara Rahim Deputy Head GirlI joined Kings’ this academic year and made friends very quickly, which made me happy. My teacher also helped me to settle.
In the first half term, I applied to be Deputy Head Boy and had a proper interview for the role! I felt so excited to be chosen and have presented assemblies about school values and organised whole-school initiatives.
I love Science, I find it really engaging and during our topic about the human body, we dissected a sheep’s heart. My favourite day was when we visited the University of Birmingham for a STEM activity. I am excited to start Year 7 and look forward to doing Chemistry experiemtns the our new secondary science labs.
Ihsan Muhammad Khan Deputy Head BoyYear 7 has been the best year!
One of my favourite topics was learning about the continent of Africa and its history. It has been such an amazing subject to learn about and is really interesting. I am also really proud of my academic achievements this year, especially in English.
Next year, I would like to focus on sports more. We have a great netball team and I would love to join them.
Shaikha Saeed AlHarbi Year 7This is my first year at Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba and I have absolutely loved it.
Thanks in part to all the wonderful teachers who helped me to settle in. Since joining, I have really improved in confidence and am pleased with my academic achievements.
I joined the school ‘Tech Team’, which has opened so many brilliant opportunities to learn new skills and meet new people. I supported the Kings’ Got Talent showcase as well as helped to organise a number of assemblies.
I can’t wait to continue to hone these skills as well as to try new activities next year!

We were incredibly excited to welcome a surprise visitor to campus to kick-start our Dubai 30x30 activities, Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Director General of the KHDA. Together with Dr Abdulla, we accepted the 2022 Dubai Fitness Challenge and got stuck straight into a workout. For the following 30 days, our PE
team delivered multiple fitness workouts every morning to help start everyones day positively. We had team circuits, fun runs, HIIT sessions, dance workouts, and Boxercise. It was great to see so many students and staff taking part in our active mornings to jump-start their day!

World Book Day is an eagerly anticipated celebration in the Kings’ calendar. Schools around the world come together to celebrate and instil a love of books and literature.
Students across the campus had the opportunity to widen their vocabulary by dressing up as a word. They also participated in a range of exciting activities throughout the day.
I learned lots of new words.

Our Happiness Ambassadors created a number of different initiatives to spread cheer during Happiness Day. They made post boxes for students to post things that make them happy, they created posters about what makes them happy, and they
came up with a number of activities to make their peers happy. The aim of the day was to make someone smile. Teachers created a tree of achievements and students added leaves describing proud moments in school where they persevered to achieve a goal.
I loved sharing compliments in school to make other friends happy.
Dylan Polo ClassWe discussed simple ways we can all make others happy at school.

European Day of Language presented the opportunity to celebrate linguistic diversity and to encourage lifelong language learning. Students and staff participated in a variety of activities from treasure hunts to a "Guess the language' video, where
they watched various members of the school community speaking in different languages.
It was a great day, with students learning more about the wider world and different cultures and languages.
Every year on 3rd November, we celebrate and reaffirm our allegiance to the UAE flag - a symbol of the country’s unity. Our Emirati families led the celebrations
with a flag-raising ceremony whilst students sang the national anthem. We were privileged to be joined by members of Dubai Police as well as horses from the Royal Stables.
Our annual Literature Festival celebrates literature in all its forms. Students were immersed in a range of different genres to promote the written word. Every day had a different focus: Author Monday; Tell a Tale
Tuesday; Poetic Wednesday; Illustrating Thursday, and Dramatic Friday. Students participated in range of exciting workshops led by leading poets, writers, and playwrights, promoting their specific areas of literature.

The Arabic Literature Competition we organise each year for primary and secondary students serves as an excellent platform to enhance language abilities, inspire a passion for reading, and cultivate an appreciation for literature within Arab culture.
By setting clear objectives, categorising topics and genres, effectively communicating
guidelines, providing enticing prizes, and strategically promoting the competition, we curate an immersive and uplifting experience that motivates learners to explore the rich world of Arabic literature, fostering a deep love for it.
Our students never fail to astonish with their confidence on stage.
