HE IS NOT HIM DO YOU KNOW YOUR HUSBAND?

By: Pastor Sharina George

Think about its ladies. We have never been married to HIM. I know we dated and sometimes had serious relationships, but this relationship is a unique one. We are not married to our past relationships and should not expect our spouses to be like them. If we are not careful we will continue to compare our relationships to our past relationships. God wants the two of you to become one flesh. What does that mean? That’s means there are two single, whole people who are working to get on one accord in parenting, sexual relations, career, housing etc. This is process of

“becoming.” If we are not careful we will expect things that will never yield out of this man and sabotage our own relationship. This false expectation has ruined many marriages. We look at our pastors, elders, deacons etc…and compare those men to the men we have which is very unhealthy. He is not him. Instead, lets grow to appreciate the uniqueness’s of our mate.

Here are a few things to consider: What does he like to do that you don’t? Maybe you can set up a date night/day that includes all the things he likes to do. Don’t go with a bitter look on your face. Delight yourself in the things that he would like to do. What is favorite food? Sometimes we don’t like our spouse’s favorite food but YouTube or google how to make it and cook it anyway. This will be a surprise to him, and I believe it will be greatly appreciated. Does he travel for ministry? Sometimes we stay at home due to children, grandchildren, work or something else but if you can, travel with him to some of his events. If all the children are out the house and your spouse has an engagement, try your best to support his engagements by showing up and being present. Don’t show up and not be present. Show your spouse you are into his ministry no matter how many years he’s been in ministry. Intimacy Tip: I heard on a radio station that a man cheated on his wife by going to a local hotel on his lunch break. His wife stopped trying new things and he desired something else and went outside the marriage. While this is not justified the radio host used it as an example. He said do with your spouse, what would do with a mistress. Find out your husbands’ sexual fantasy and try it. Find out if he’s satisfied and try your best to listen to him. Don’t start to feel upset and angry after he shares his feelings. When he shares take note of what he is saying. In conclusion, He is not him. Don’t bring others into your marriage. Those past relationship are over so let them go. Engage in the spouse that God has given you and work to be the best wife God is calling you to be.

onventions - long and tiring. Whether for a week, or just a couple of days, there is much learning to be gained, and networking is at its height if you know how to do it. Conventions can be lengthy and taxing on your body, but attending the right convention will leave you energized, bolder, and more focused than ever on your purpose area. Such was the case for me in August of 2018 when I attended The National Convention of Gospel Choirs & Choruses (“NCGCC”). As a leader in music performance and choir directing, opportunities abound for me to grow in those areas of my ministry. I am always looking for ways to make time with my choirs more beneficial and productive. Among the many valuable takeaways from this powerful convention experience was to keep reaching higher. God has so much more for you, but you will never lay hold on it staying where you are. The leadership of the NCGCC encourages next-level movement not only for those I lead, but for me. You can’t help others to be their best selves if you are not trying to be your best self. Whatever area of business, ministry, or even personal development you are concentrating in, it is important that you keep a bag packed. No, not in the physical sense necessarily, but in the spiritual, mental, and emotional sense. Life is always moving, and you must move too, if you are to see your purpose and dream come to fruition. How? I have a couple of suggestions: 1. Recognize that comfort and complacency are enemies to your purpose. In other words, becoming too comfortable, especially in a hard place, can cause you to miss future opportunities. For example, not all the churches I have served in have been ideal in terms of musical talent, discipline, planning, and organization. But if I had become complacent and stopped “showing up,” i.e., not practicing, not preparing for rehearsals, not researching new music, etc., I stood a very good chance of missing the next fulfilling opportunity or position because I was not ready. Be ready for your next move. 2. Resist the temptation to procrastinate. Unjustified delay will keep you from being your best self. Why? Because your best self will not be found in times of ease, but in difficulty. I have embraced this point now, but there was a time when I allowed fear to cancel out my faith in God. Fear and faith cannot peacefully co-exist. Fear will breed procrastination. Don’t do that to yourself. 3. Don’t park in that dark, confusing place in your life. Take a

DONNA RENAY PATRICK closer look at those areas in your life that are within your power to change, and begin taking steps to change them. Your dream is worth fighting for. Remember that centuries-old proverb, “Time (and tide) wait for no man”? It is still true today. Life is always moving, and human events or concerns cannot stop the passage of time. It only means that while you are stuck in procrastination, time is moving right along without you. I was stuck in the procrastination trap until I woke up and realized the chances I may have missed by not moving.

The convention is over, but in my heart, mind, and spirit, I’m keeping a bag packed.

“Manhunt” Genesis 1:26 shares with us; “ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion…”

“Be sober, be vigilant, for your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. I Peter 5:8-9” Beginning from the early 80’s to the 2000’s one of the most long standing shows on television was America’s Most Wanted. The show hosted by John Walsh was dedicated on bringing those who committed crimes to justice. Due to the airing of the show, a man hunt for the fugitives would began. The manhunt would put everyone on high alert. As men of God, we have not committed a natural crime and become fugitives, however; because we have received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour; we have escaped from the hands of the devil. Having escaped, the enemy will do everything and anything he can to kill, steal and destroy the sons of God ( St. John 10:10 ). The devil wants to hunt us down and cause us to flee out of the will of God and find ourselves trapped and snared in spiritual bondages. As Christians, traps are set in hopes that we give in and give up and become prey to the devil. Traps are set as temptations through fleshly lust, worldly

pleasures and spiritual bondages such as porn, illicit affairs, anger, wrath and unforgiveness. The Bible says that the devil is a roaring lion on the hunt to kill men that name the name of Jesus. We are on his hit list; on a “Man Hunt” to put us in prison. The scripture continues in I Peter 5: 8-9, “ Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” You’re not in this fight alone. We have power to resist the hunter and escape through Jesus Christ the traps and snares the devil has left. Isn’t it comforting to know that your brothers are going through the same trials. test and tribulations and they’re WINNING! If our brothers in Christ are winning, it’s an assurance that we win to. You may feel you’re being hunted by the enemy and you’re losing the fight but with Jesus who is “The Lion of The Tribe of Judah” the hunter becomes the hunted. We resist the devil and bring the fight to him by walking up right and living for Jesus. We have the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords on our side. God is on a man hunt as well. He’s looking for real man that desire to serve and be saved. Men that will resist the fleshly urges that separate us from our God. As men of God we don’t fear a toothless lion like the devil but we stand by faith with the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Jesus Christ. The devil may be hunting men to devour them but God has brought faith, hope and love to deliver us. Stay strong and stay encouraged my brothers.

Evangelist Leslie Scruggs GRACE UNDER FIRE Many of us have heard it said “Play with fire and you’re gonna get burned.” Well it is so good to know that when we speak of Grace under Fire in the kingdom that this cliché doesn’t hold water! There is always someone watching to see how we are going to handle or react to the pressures life brings our way. No matter where we find ourselves in the world today, it seems that the more we aim to live for Christ the more we are met with a plethora of challenges and obstacles to overcome. Some expected, some not. How we meet those challenges displays our grace and says a lot about who we are and whose we are. This same grace we have. When we have that blessed assurance of Christ in our heart, that’s what will give us the humility and strength we need to endure until the victory, in our favor, has come. As blood bought believers there is grace apportioned to us by Christ (Ephesians 4:7) and it is sufficient to carry us through any trials, tribulations or situations fired at us (2 Cor. 12:9) So when we find ourselves buffeted on every side with things such as: attacks on our health, concern for our children or parents, dealing with an unfaithful or unsaved spouse, overworked while underpaid on our job, don’t have a job, frustrated finances, envious and/or jealous friends and acquaintances, mental and/or physical abuse, homelessness, hunger and the list goes on; we won’t succumb to a spirit of hopelessness or despair. Yes, these attacks are real and often designed to

move us out of our place of grace and even question our faith. If we let them, they can consume us like a raging fire, until there is nothing left. But thanks be to God, for when the firing squad comes to try and take us out, we can stand with purified poise or ‘Grace under Fire’ and not be consumed. We bear witness of this in the story of the three Hebrew boys found in Daniel chapter 3. While faced with a life or death decision to follow God’s plan for their lives or submit to the way of the world through the king’s decree. Their faith allowed them to enter into the fire with grace and come out not even smelling like smoke! This same grace we have. When we have that blessed assurance of Christ in our heart, that’s what will give us the humility and strength we need to endure until the victory, in our favor, has come. Peace & Blessings!

re you tired of going ‘round and ‘round in life with no direction in sight? Perhaps you are tired of sitting passively watching the world pass you by? You may just be riding the Carousel of Life! According to the website (www.dictionary.com), a carousel is referred to as a merry-go-around or roundabout. It is a circular platform that people ride on for amusement. Well, it is all fun and games until you want to get off and actually engage in life. So, what is required to stop riding the Carousel of Life and finally take action to participate in it?

Refocus!

Often times, we can become stuck in the mediocracy and status quo about life. It may seem easier to “just go with the flow.” However, taking this passive approach to life will leave us stagnate. Instead, refocus our attention from the mundane, look to the future with excitement and expectation, and watch our lives change for the better. When we shift our focus from what is right in front of us and look up towards the possibilities, we might find that life has more to offer. On the Carousel of Life, if we only focus on the fixtures on the platform, we’ll miss the world flying by in the process. Take a moment to readjust our lenses, it may

result in a better view!

Get Up!

We have all heard the phrase, “Don’t just sit there, do something!” Well, the statement could not be more accurate. On the Carousel of Life, it is comfortable to sit and watch the scenery. Simply being in observation mode does not require much movement or engagement on our part. However, once we decide to “Get up,” this shifts things. We are no longer sitting passively. We have likely made a decision that “I’ve had enough riding now, it’s time to go.” The action of “getting up” forces us to ponder the idea that we can either wait for the carousel to stop or take the risk and “just jump off ” while the carousel is still moving. Ask yourself, “Is there greater value in remaining on the Carousel of Life than it would be to jump off and actively engage in life?

Mental Health Challenge: Embrace life with a new perspective! Enough of the mundane. Take steps to engage in life from a fresh mindset and focus. Weigh the options & take risks! Call it a leap of faith! If you don’t try, you have given yourself permission to remain in the same state. Yet, don’t be surprised by the outcome! Change your speech! Speak life and believe it to be better than it is right now. If you cannot “see” it to speak it, you will not live it! Words are powerful creators of reality.

THE CONCLUSION OF THE MATTER

When the Carousel of Life leaves us amused but unfulfilled and dissatisfied, it is time to refocus, get up, and engage in life! There is no sense continuing to go ‘round and ‘round with no end in sight. Ultimately, the choice is yours! SELAH

The potter first thinks about what he wants to create. He imagines it’s purpose, it’s potential. The potter picks out the right clay for the task at hand, and for certain objects, like bowls, plates,

and vases will place it right on the potter’s wheel, and with his hands and a little water, will mold the clay, shape the clay, and apply pressure to turn a hard lump of clay into pliable clay that will become a work of art that is both beautiful when compared to what it was originally, and can be used for practical purposes. So that the pottery can be glazed without breaking, it is placed in high temperatures to remove any water and after some time, once the surface of the pottery is smooth, sometimes having to be smoothed through sandpaper, it is glazed to perfection, reheated, and then ready for admiration and use. Sometimes we feel like that clay don’t we? We have no idea what the potter sees our ultimate purpose and potential as. Sometimes we find ourselves spinning around on that wheel, and everything seems like a blur, we keep going in circles, and we wonder what is taking so long, when will there be progress, when will we be finished with this process? We are constantly feeling the pressure of the potter’s hands in so many different areas of our lives. Perhaps it is pressure from our boss and coworkers. Pressure at home with our spouse and/or children. Pressure from friends, family and society. Maybe we are feeling pressure from our doctor, or from our accountant, the list goes on. Sometimes the pressure can be so intense you feel like it will break you, it may feel like a burden on your shoulder you simply can’t carry anymore. You may feel the need to take a break and catch your breath or you may want to give up altogether. The next time you feel like you are carrying more than you can handle remember Isaiah 45:9 “What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one

who shapes it, saying “Stop, you’re doing it wrong!” Does the pot exclaim, “How clumsy can you be?” God is our creator and we are his creation, he is the potter, and we are the clay, and he knows what he is doing even when we don’t. What your boss is asking you to do is not too much, it could lead to a promotion if you rise up to the challenge. Who your spouse wants you to be is not something you’re incapable of, they are there to encourage you to be the best version of yourself that you can possibly be, not to allow you to become complacent. Children are not a burden they are a blessing and bringing out the best in them, brings out the best in you. That ministry opportunity that just came your way is not a distraction, it is your calling, it is not meant to be turned down just because you feel like you are too exhausted and too busy to complete it, perhaps God wants to show you how his power and strength is made perfect in weakness. That book, that business, is not meant to be delayed, again and again, this life is meant to be lived, with all of its pressure, it’s shortcomings, it’s troubles, we are not meant to run away, but to press on anyway.

Wherever Pe God will

“Since the beginning of my life, my peace was compromised. Growing up with a mom addicted to drugs, living very poorly and being raised by my father watching him struggle to take care of us, dealing with childhood depression and thoughts of suicide, the enemy began to prey on me and took my happiness at an early age. Never healing from the pain, it spilled over into my adulthood. Chaos began to manifest in my friendships, my marriage, even my nursing career. But my marriage was hit harder than any other aspect of my life. The enemy started to penetrate the mind of myself and my exhusband which brought on the spirit of stress and depression. It even effected my finances. At this point in my storm, I lost everything! My husband, my house, my car and my sanity. My spirit was broken beyond repair…so I thought! My sister invited me to Kingdom Builders International which changed my life. I was so overwhelmed by the love I received! For the first time in my life after visiting KBI I felt love. Unconditional love that I had never felt before that gave me peace in my soul. But my peace walk didn’t stop there. I began to desire more of God and started to participate in church and began to seek God’s face. I desired to have a deeper relationship with God and asked him to show me my purpose. Shortly after asking God for purpose, Pastor Sharina George shared with me that my name meant “Manifestation of

God.” I was so amazed! After learning what my name meant I knew I had purpose. That entire week, I began to feel God pulling on my heart strings telling me it’s time to answer to what God called me to do. I began to train as a minister after talking with my pastors. I was so excited to begin this walk but still something was missing. But what? I couldn’t understand what else could draw me closer to God until I received a divine assignment to seek peace. I couldn’t quite understand what that could actually do to my spiritual walk. I went about my assignment and began to understand the importance of peace. In my peace walk I began to hear God speak to me and begin to manifest in my spirit. It was at that moment when I finally understood that God was always present, but he couldn’t manifest in me until

my heart was filled with peace and my mind was quiet. On two separate occasions on the same day God had given to me the scripture Psalm 46:10 that carried me throughout my peace assignment and has now become my way of life. It was very challenging to accomplish what God set out for me to do. It got easier over time with prayer and studying the word of God which gave the wisdom to accept this divine peace and this new lifestyle transformation which is truly peace within itself. I’m so grateful for the manifestation of God entering my heart. As I walk in my new-found purpose and my kingdom assignment, I will continue seeking his face so I can continue to hear from him for my next journey.”

HOW TO KEEP Minister Angela Mosley

You know that exercise and a good diet can keep your heart healthy. But what else can you do to keep your heart beating strong? I have researched this and I have found quite a few things for you to do and incorporate in your daily lifestyle. My suggestions will make your heart health the best it could be for you.

1. Eat healthy fats, NOT Trans fats. We need fats in our diet, including saturated and polyunsaturated fats. Trans fat is known to increase your risk of developing heart disease or having a stroke over a lifetime. Also this fat clogs your arteries by raising your bad cholesterol levels (LDL) and lowering your good cholesterol levels (HDL). By cutting them from your diet, you improve the blood flow throughout your body. So, what are trans fats? They are industry-produced fats often used in packaged baked goods, snack foods, margarines and fried foods to add flavor and texture. Tip: Avoid eating foods that have “Hydrogenated oils” listed on the food labels. 2. Practice good dental hygiene (especially when flossing your teeth daily). Dental health is a good indication of your overall health, including your heart, because those who have periodontal (gum) disease often have the same risk factors for heart disease. Tip: Floss and brush your teeth daily to ward off gum disease. 3. Get enough sleep. Sleep is an essential part of keeping your heart healthy. If you don’t sleep enough, you may be at a higher risk for cardiovascular disease no matter your age or your health habits. Tip: Make sleep a priority. Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep most nights.

P YOUR HEART HEALTHY 4. Don’t sit for too long at one time. Research suggested that staying seated for long periods of time is bad for your health no matter how much exercise you do. One serious condition you can develop is deep vein thrombosis better known as a blood clot. So sitting for long periods of time (especially when traveling) increases your risk of developing blood clots. Tip: Move throughout the day. Park farther away from the office and take a couple of short walks throughout the day. 5. Avoid secondhand smoke. Studies show that the risk of developing heart disease is about 25 to 30 percent higher for people who are exposed to secondhand smoke at home or work. Also, nonsmokers who have high blood pressure or high cholesterol have an even greater risk of developing heart disease. This is because the chemicals emitted from cigarette smoke promote the development of plaque buildup in the arteries. Tip: Be firm with smokers that you do not want to be around environmental smoke. Especially around children and infants. 6. Learn to manage Physical and Emotional stress. Life is too short. When you work too many hours a day and you worry over things you cannot change, these are a few that will put strain on your physical heart. Tip: Put your Trust in God’s hands and know he is in control. Make a habit of doing something daily that relaxes your mind, body and soul. (Hint: Prayer and Mediating on God’s Holy Word). Blessings in Jesus Name
