Old Kenmare Road proposal leads to wedding bells BY EVE KELLIHER
T
HIS bride and groom made tracks from Australia to Kerry to celebrate their big day. Kilcummin native Kieran Lynch exchanged vows with his bride Maire Moloughney-O’Sullivan from Cork in a ceremony led by Fr Joe Begley and Fr John Lucid in Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Kilcummin. The couple, who now live in Geelong, an hour outside Melbourne in Australia, held their reception in the five-star Muckross Park Hotel, Killarney. Kieran’s mother and father Kathleen and Michael Lynch and Maire’s parents Catherine Moloughney-O’Sullivan and Jerry O’Sullivan helped them plan their big day to perfection. Maire’s sister Katie O’Sullivan Varelias was maid of honour while Kieran’s friend Michael Fleming was best man. The groom’s sister Marguerite Lynch joined forces with the brides’ friends Rachel Carr, Laura Trimble-Thompson and Ekaterini Karabatos in the role of bridesmaids with Kieran’s niece Kate Lynch O’Doherty as junior bridesmaid. Kieran’s friends Brian Dunne, Michael Finn, Jason O’Connor and Sean O’Doherty were groomsmen.
The groom’s nieces Mia and Ellie Lynch-O’Doherty were flower girls. Maire and Kieran first met in The Celtic Club in Melbourne four-and-a-half years ago. Kieran proposed to Maire on the Old Kenmare Road. “We returned to the same spot for photos on our wedding day,” said Maire. Husband and wife team The Woodards captured the wedding on camera, working alongside the videographer Thady Kavanagh from Film Company of Ireland. “Our big day was absolute perfection – a day full of love and laughter,” said Maire. The bride looked stunning in a Lazaro gown, while the bridal makeup was by Killarney Toning & Beauty Studio with hairstyling by Jane McMonagle. As for their honeymoon destination? Maire answered: “Costa del Kilcummin! As Kieran is living away from his family all of the time we decided to stay local to spend time with his family. We spent a few days in Parknasilla Resort & Spa for a mini-moon,” said Maire. • If you would like your big day featured in Killarney Advertiser Wedding of the Week contact Eve Kelliher on 064-6632215 or newsdesk@killarneyadvertiser.ie
