Will and Rosie in the frame BY EVE KELLIHER
T
HEIR dads played key roles in ensuring the nuptials of Will Kelly and Rosie Whelan were picture-perfect. Will, the son of Sean and Mary from Killarney, and Rosie, the daughter of John and Mary from Laharn, Killorglin, were wed recently in St James’ Church, Killorglin, and held their reception in The Malton Hotel, Killarney. The father-of-the-groom Sean Kelly is a renowned wedding photographer and so was perfectly placed to capture the big day on camera. Meanwhile, the bride’s dad John, a member of Killorglin Pipe Band Association, led the bridal party into the reception with his band mates providing music on arrival to the church. Stella Randles and the Healy sisters provided further music at the ceremony and garden reception. The best man was Brian Kelly, Killarney, who returned from a training camp with the Kerry senior football team in the UK the day before the wedding. Christopher Ashe was groomsman and two of Rosie's triplet cousins from Ballyvourney, Breda and Geraldine Kelleher, were bridesmaids. The groom’s nephew Daniel Kelly, son of Bobby and Susan Kelly, Kilcummin, took on the key role of usher and his nieces Rebecca and Sarah Kelly and Emma White were flower girls. Some 270 guests joined the celebrations and Dublin band Midnight Sounds followed by local DJ Derek Hegarty ensured the dance floor was full. Banqueting manager Emer Corridan helped the bride organise a memorable reception. Celebrations continued throughout the weekend, including a barbecue in the Muckross Park Hotel the evening after the wedding. The newlyweds are currently living in Singapore where Will works for Kerry Group plc in commercial finance and Rosie works as a nurse. The couple met in UCC in 2004 and started dating in early 2007. “We returned to the scene of the crime in March 2014 and got engaged after a stay in Hayfield Manor on the weekend before we moved to Singapore,” said Will. The newlyweds enjoyed a honeymoon in the Maldives.
