Two callouts for Kerry Mountain Rescue team THE Kerry Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) were involved in two operations within hours of one another last Saturday. Fourteen members of the team were called to the rescue of a walker at Torc Waterfall that afternoon on 3pm. “The walker, an American lady, slipped and fell 100 feet down a steep embankment, sustaining shoulder and other injuries,” said Alan Wallace of KMRT. The incident occurred at the viewing area near to the top of Torc Waterfall. The team provided first aid at the scene before stretchering the walker up the embankment and to the ambulance. She was transported to University Hospital Kerry.” The callout concluded at 5.30pm. At about 6.30pm, the team was contacted by Dingle Cliff and Coastal Rescue looking for assistance with a rescue near to Derryquay school. The casualty, a teenage girl, sustained lower leg injuries while walking on a trail approximately 1km behind the school. She was treated at the scene by the ambulance paramedics before being stretchered across the rough ground to the ambulance by KMRT and Dingle Coast Guard. “The girl was part of a large German Scout group walking the Dingle Way.
