Sun holiday proposal for travel consultant BY EVE KELLIHER CHOOSING the perfect honeymoon destination was all in a day’s work for bride Lorraine Roche. Lorraine, who worked as a travel consultant for Torc Travel in Killarney before relocating to Limerick, and her bridegroom Brian O’Connor holidayed in the Bahamas and Florida after their recent nuptials. And it was while on another sun holiday, just over a year before, that Lorraine and Brian, a technician and farmer, got engaged. The couple enjoyed a night out in the Vilamoura resort in Portugal watching Kerry win the All-Ireland football final. Lorraine, from Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick, had spent several years living and working in Killarney so the Kingdom’s victory on September 21, 2014, was all the sweeter when on her return to their hotel room, Brian surprised her by popping the question. “Brian had set the scene with champagne and candles on the hotel room balcony,” said Lorraine. She and Brian, from Labasheeda, Co Clare, were married recently in Templeglantine, Co Limerick, and held their reception in The Brehon

Hotel, Killarney. Helping them celebrate were the bride’s parents Patsy and John Roche and the groom’s mother and father Ann and Bernard O’Connor. The bride’s sisters Annmarie Roche and Jane Roche were bridesmaids while the groom’s brother Barry O’Connor and brother-in-law Derek Gallagher lent their support as groomsmen. Lorraine’s cousin Daniel O’Connor and Brian’s nephews Conor and Eoghan Gallagher were pageboys. The bride’s cousin Izzy O’Connor and the groom’s niece Caoimhe Gallagher were flower girls. Guests partied the night away to the sounds of Crystal Swing and Video DJ Donal. “The big day was a great success, flawless. The Brehon did a fantastic job,” said Lorraine. Lorraine’s sister Annmarie took care of the floral arrangements and their aunt Margaret created the brooch bouquet. The bride’s neighbour, Marie Collins, baked the wedding cake. The newlyweds will reside in Co Clare. •If you would like your big day featured in Killarney Advertiser Wedding of the Week contact Eve Kelliher on 064-6632215 or newsdesk@killarneyadvertiser.ie
