THE COMPASS WASHINGTON JOURNEY

A story of growth and resilience in the PNW

CHAPTER Compass made its way to the Evergreen State in the Spring of 2018. These early days are when our small staff became family and we met the original, trailblazing brokers who would bring Compass Washington to the next level including our first merger with the NWG Team, and their University Village office space, quickly followed by Mark von Der Burg and the VDB team.

ONE

TWO In Summer of 2018, we traded in meetings at the Starbucks Roastery to our first temporary homes—Industrious and WeWork. With offices on both sides of Lake Washington, we were able to grow our broker count from 26 to 126 and staff count from 5 to 10.

CHAPTER Later that summer, we welcomed Avenue Properties to the Compass family and expanded our reach to two more offices— Pike Street on Capitol Hill and 108th in Downtown Bellevue, bringing our broker count up to 280.

CHAPTER FOUR Fast forward to September of 2019, when we officially opened our Westlake office in South Lake Union. This office marked our first space built especially for Compass Washington. The celebration welcomed brokers and staff as Robert Reffkin unveiled Compass’s HQ2 and new center of excellence for Product & Engineering.

In December of 2019, we closed out our massive year of expansion by bringing the Compass brand to Skagit County, with the help of the Jean Groesbeck Group in Anacortes, and Whatcom County with an office opening in Bellingham’s Fairhaven District, bringing our broker count to 500.

SIX Then, in February of 2020, we opened up the Bellevue Bravern office with an event as luxurious as the space itself. As the highest producing real estate office in the state in 2019, this new space was an exceptional acquirement for our Eastside brokers.

CHAPTER In March of 2020, life and real estate as we knew it changed due to the impact of COVID-19. Despite all staff and brokers working virtually, we welcomed two more teams to the Compass family—GBK based in Capitol Hill and Caliber based on the Eastside.

Now, after months of pivoting plans and adapting to our new surroundings, and a broker count approaching 600, we are so excited to announce the opening of our latest office in the Center of the Universe‌
