MEET OUR BOARD

A support system like no other. Kids Code Jeunesse is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors, who is responsible for making sure that we use our resources well to achieve our charitable goals. The Board oversees the organization’s accountability, risk management and financial functions that include our annual audit and governance model.

The role of the Board Directors, Chair, Secretary and Treasurer are detailed below. Each Board of Director is also responsible for chairing or representing the Board on a KCJ Committee. The committees include risk management, fundraising, and strategy. These committees meet throughout the year and report on their progress at Board of Directors meetings.

The Breakdown of the Board AUTHORITY The Board of Directors is the legal authority for KCJ. As a member of the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for effective governance of the organization. ACCOUNTABILITY The Board of Directors is collectively accountable to the members, community, funders and other stakeholders. They are accountable for KCJ’s performance in relation to its mission and strategic objectives, and for the effective stewardship of resources. The performance of the Board of Directors collectively will be evaluated annually based on established criteria from a board self-assessment tool. The self-assessment tool is shared at the last board meeting before each Summer. TERM OF OFFICE Directors are elected by ordinary resolution at the Annual General Meeting. Directors serve for a one-year term. At the end of the elected term, a director shall be eligible for re-election. Directors may be released at the end of the elected term, by resigning, or according to the organization’s bylaws.
