Occasion
for mentally handicapped people
0n Friday 24th November,a cold and frosty day,excited villagers congregated outside CARE house,Kibworth for a unique occasion. They awaited the arrival of Princess Alexandra , who has been the Patron of the National CARE charity since 1981、 At 1.30 prompt Princess Alexandra arrived and she was greeted by Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire,Tim Brooks and his wife Anne.。 Parents of residents including Mr.、 and Mrs. Townsend also welcomed Princess Alexandra 。 Excited residents of CARE house recall a momentous twenty minutes shaking hands and chatting to Princess Alexandra.。 She asked all the five residents about their daily work at CARE,Shangton. Gordon Dixon said , “I told her that I helped in the gardens,and she was very interested in the Gold and Bronze medals I attained at the Special 01ympics“,。 Heather Stokes said,“She was really Lovely and I presented her with a bouquet“。 Before departing to CAREs Shangtony Princess Alexandra took time to shake hands and converse with Local vi11agers. She took particular interest in Mrs, Hazel Hubbard who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis.。 Mrs. Iris Tom1inson mentioned the time when she was presented to her mother - Princess Marina,who was on an official visit to West Langton Hall during the war years.。 Princess Alexandra said,““that was a long time ago“.。 Everyone was happy_to have met_her,it made their day . At CAREs Shangtonys the Princess was shown round the craft,woodwork and gardening workshops、。 She saw the displays and met the Special in the sports hall1. She chatted to all the residents and stayed 40 minutes longer than This is the first time Princess Alexandra has visited CARE Shangton,and so every one was obyiously excited and they wil1 all remember this special occasion。 更连
