The Kingfisher High School Girls Cross Country team took first place at the 2018 4A State Championships last Saturday. The meet took place in Shawnee at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center.

In the 3200 Run the team won first place with a score of 86 and a top 5 total average of 12:52.5, edging out Plainview HS by 4.3 seconds. In a field of 160 runners, Maddie St Cyr came in 5th, Zoey Evans in 10th, Katon Lunsford in 13th, followed by Madeline Loosen in 14th.

In the 5K Event, the KHS Boys took 9th place overall with senior Reece Lafferty leading the Yellowjacket runners with an 11th place finish, less than 10 seconds behind the leader. The Boys 5K fielded 161 runners in the 4A class.

The Kingfisher Yellowjackets Football team won their previous two district games of the 2018/2019 season against the Bridge Creek Bobcats and the Perkins-Tryon Demons Last Friday they faced a 6-1 Heritage Hall team, losing 27-35.

Next up, the Yellowjackets will travel to Mt. Saint Mary to face the Rockets with a 7 p.m. kickoff.

At six p.m., on October 15th, four children and an adult woman were found dead in their home in Columbia, Tennessee.

The children have been identified as 14-year-old Meigan Lin, 14year-old Bo Li, 15-year-old Lia Lin, and 17-year-old Kaileigh Lin. 1. In Canada it is against the law to pretend to use or say any type of witchcraft or sorcery.

2. In New Zealand it is illegal to be a medium with intent to deceive people.

3. In Florida it is illegal for an unmarried woman to go skydiving on a Sunday.

4. In Virginia you can’t swear in public on the beach.

5. In Germany it is illegal to sell cucumbers that are too curved.

6. In Australia men are only allowed to relieve themselves on the back left wheel of a horse drawn carriage.

7. In California it illegal not to say bless you on Sunday.

The Story of My Death-Pt 1

All Your Fears

Just a mere 24-hours ago I was alive and well and having the adventure of a lifetime. But now I’m stuck with this lifeless skeleton sitting next to me and all there was to see was the sea, the sand, and my friend named Steve.

However to truly understand what is going on we need to go back. Like about 10 years. Now I must warn you if you’re expecting Tolkien, you’re sadly mistaken. It is still quite an interesting story though.

It all starts when I was only 23. I was at my friend’s house enjoying his birthday with some cocktails and snacks when I heard a mysterious noise coming from the background. I asked a few people if they heard what I had and responded to my question with a confused look and remarks like, “have you gone insane,” and, “do you need to lie down?”

Since everybody seemed to not notice the noise, I began to think that this was all in my head and went back to drinking my bloody mary when the sound began again, this time fainter yet somehow more identifiable. Like the sound of a cat or a small child.

I asked again and got a little more aggressive version of the last answer. I decided to investigate myself. I slowly inched down the hallway taking each step very carefully and quietly as to not startle the baby or cat or whatever it was. I began to turn the corner when I saw it just inside the bedroom. To be continued.

We all have fears, some we openly share with people. (A really bad thing to do, I’m just saying) There are many different fears and some are either very rational or very irrational, or as I call it very stupid. In the spirit of Halloween I will name some of everyone’s fears.

Arachnophobia is one that is common with a lot of people due to spider’s naturally creepy physical features, and the fact that a lot of spiders do have a painful bite.

Claustrophobia is another that, while it affects some people I have no problem with.

Thanatophobia is the fear of death. I’m sure this occurs in a lot of people due to it being the unknown. Another one people most likely have is glossophobia which is a fear of speaking in front of the public, this being something we all hate doing.

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, this is one of the stupid ones. It is the fear of long words and that’s ironic since it’s one of the longest words I’ve ever seen.

Athazagoraphobia is a fear I feel some could relate to, because it is the fear of being alone or forgotten. That’s it for this reading of fears.

Marvel Movies

By Thomas Smith/kk Everyone was blown away by the ending of Avengers: Infinity War, and unless you have been living under a rock, several months, spoilers are ahead. Okay so we left of with half of the universe turning to dust due to Thanos’ snap using the gauntlet with all six stones. The one thing I notice throughout the end of the movie is that the original avengers are the some of the spared characters leading people to believe that while they are the surviving ones now that in the fourth movie they will have to sacrifice themselves to save others that have been killed off.

This might be true for at least Captain America because his actor says that after the next Avengers he will stop being Captain America. This most likely means that Captain America will be killed off. Also, Marvel kind of screwed themselves over by announcing a Spider-Man sequel, Doctor Strange sequel, and Third Guardians of the Galaxy. These announcements already spoil that almost every important character comes back from the snap of death, but still I guess you have to watch to see how they did it. The next avengers movie is going to come the same time infinity war came out in May 2019.

The Best To The Worst Day Ever By: Chance Cowdery/kk One Sunday morning, I arose from my great sleep. I was then outside in my backyard listening to the birds chirp and watching them fly around. The weather in the morning felt so amazing it was a cold breeze and it was just my favorite weather to wake up too.

In that morning I was watching TV just being lazy and out of the blue my mom and my dad surprised me with one of the best presents all year. They asked me if I wanted to go to a Thunder game, and I could invite a friend. I was super excited! The moment that my parents told me, I was so ready because it was my favorite sport and they had one of the best players in the world, in my opinion. And they had my favorite player Kevin Durant.

So I sat there in my room wondering who to bring. Of course I was going to bring my best friend Logan. He was my goto and was the coolest person to me and he always has my back. Then I started getting ready to go to the Thunder game. I wore the newest Kevin Durant sneakers, a Russell Westbrook jersey, and all my Thunder basketball sport gear.

After my parents and I were all ready, we went to go pick up Logan. Once we picked him up, we were talking about how cool it is going to be watching a professional basketball game. We were going on in on about us getting to watch and see one of the best players in the world. We were both excited and ready.

When we finally arrived at the arena, it was super packed. It was really hard getting a parking place. But once we went in walked around the arena up and personal, it was crazy. The court was way bigger than what I expected. The players were all warming up and me and Logan were amazed on how tall the players were. It was unbelievable .We went up to our seat, and we got some snacks and drinks, to watch the game. Logan and I were having so much fun; we were really still in shock that we were at a real NBA basketball game. As Logan and I were talking we were talking about how someday one of us is going to make it to a big league like this and be professional.

After the game was over, we went to go eat afterwards, Logan and I knew what we wanted, it was Toby Keith’s. That place is my favorite place to eat in Bricktown. Theie steak and baked potato is what I always get there at the restaurant.

As we finished our dinner, we left and it was pouring. We waited for a little bit for it to stop, but we waited about fifteen minutes and it still did not stop, but it didn’t so my parents said we are just gonna have to run out in the rain. As we started our run, we kept running and running and I noticed that we still had a very long way to get to the car. As I was running I came across a really muddy landslide and I was going down it as I went down it I lost my balance and slipped.

As I was slow to get up still laying down on the muddy place I saw a swarm of ducks going my way as I saw that I was freaking out and I was screaming saying ‘Help me, help me!’

Soon when I made it to the car I just thought on how the best day ever turned into the worst day ever. As I had to make a really uncomfortable ride all the way to the house in a muddy outfit and really stinky clothing.

8th Grade Zoo Trip

By Julian Ocampo/kk It was Friday morning everyone was excited to go to the zoo. First we ate breakfast and did a head count then we grabbed our things that we needed. And we got on the bus and started playing music and playing games.

Next when we got to the OKC zoo and took pictures for a couple of minutes and bought a few snacks and drinks. Then we saw some gorillas and, jaguars, giraffe. We went to concession stand to buy a couple of drinks and chips. After that we saw some rhinos, flamingos, gophers and lions. After lunch we sat and talked for a little then we did some pictures again by the gorilla cage.

After that we had to go to the auditorium and I puked on the side of my chair.

My Life By: Mason Snider/kk There are many things that can describe me; but the most important things are baseball, My fishing jig and a pencil .They mean the world to me.

To begin, my bag contains a baseball. I chose a baseball because It is very fun, relaxing and you can chill with friends. Also, playing baseball is one of my favorite things to do all summer.

Second, I have a Fishing Jig. Basically, I fish when I’m not playing baseball. Also, it’s one of my favorite ways to get outdoors. Most importantly, fishing is one of the things that makes me relaxed. fishing is very important to me.

Lastly, I brought a pencil in my bag. The pencil shows that I like school and appreciate all it does for me. But, most importantly all my friends go to school. School means so much to me. I love everything about school and grateful for the opportunities I have.

In conclusion, The three things I talked about are very important to me. Baseball never gets old to me; It will always be fun. Basically when I'm not playing baseball i’m fishing; it takes me away from stuff, so I can relax. Then my third item is my pencil; my pencil shows that I love and appreciate school for all it does for me. Not only do these things symbolize me, they are also my favorite passions to do.

Jumanji (Spoilers)

Fridge and Martha grabbed a remote control to play, picking their characters.

Everything started to act weird. Spencer’s hands were disappearing as Fridge was getting sucked in the board game. They reappeared in a jungle called Jumanji. They didn’t know where they were. They were lost until someone from the video game came to save them. It was one of the avatars.

It was 1995 when a man was walking on the beach and found a board game that was making loud noises that sounded like drums.

He brought the game to his house and gave it to his son. It was 2am when the son, named Alex, heard the banging of the drums. He didn’t know why the game was making those noises but when he opened it, the board game turned into an original Nintendo game cartridge. H e put it in the Nintendo after that he picked his player and a few minutes later he was sucked into the video game.

They were being chased by a group of bad guys looking for a green stone that had magical powers which could control all of Jumanji. He wanted it back because one of his friends stole it when they were sleeping. He had been looking all over Jumanji but only until they got in the video did he knew where it was.

Flash forward to 2016 and a group of kids are at school walking in. Their names are Spencer, Fridge, Martha and Bethany.

They were doing their normal routine going to class. Martha was the first to get detention because she was talking back to the P.E teacher and said she had a life because she didn’t want to be a gym teacher like she was. Then Spencer and Fridge got sent to the office because Fridge cheated on a paper and Spencer was the one that gave him the answers.

The teacher realized that it was the same as his old report and she put it all together. They were next sent to a room for detention, which they had clean by Saturday morning. It was just the four of them cleaning the room. Before they got started they found the board game that Alex had gotten sucked into. He plugged it in and

Spencer was the character from the game named Smolder and Fridge was a guy who carried his stuff. He was his side kick, Martha was a girl whose strengths were dancing and fighting. They had four lives. If they lost them all they could die in the game, which means GAME OVER.

They were at the second level trying to look for the missing piece. They talked to a kid who knew where the missing piece was. He told them where it was. They moved on to the 3rd level. They were trying to escape an island but first they needed to get a helicopter and the only one who knew how to fly it was Alex.

He was the only one who had experience. They got on it and when a part from the helicopter fell off they were about to crash. Spencer was the one who fixed it.

They were on the final level where they had to get to the mountain that had a jaguar carved into it. They had to put the stone

on the mountain and had to say “Jumanji” out loud. There was more drama after the bad guy showed up and cause more chaos.

They eventually went back home and saw that Alex was there.

He was in his 30’s and he had a family. He named his daughter Bethany, after the girl who saved him from Jumanji. Everything was back to the way it was, they destroyed the board game and threw it away.

BOE Report October 1, 2018 The Kingfisher Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, October 1, 2018 with all members present. President Mark Squires called the meeting to order and called on Superintendent of Schools Jason Sternberger for his opening remarks. Supt.

Sternberger began by praising the high school FFA program for their recent success in national competition including a championship.

Mr. Sternberger then turned to the district finances reporting all funds in good condition and he asked board members to review expenditures and ask any questions.

He pointed out that the district will be replacing doors at the Heritage School on the building on the west side of the entrance that is being converted to classrooms. He also mentioned the district beginning to replace SmartBoard with Smart TVs which cost about $3000 very near to the board cost.

Member Mike Copeland asked about the

interest rates the district receives on large CD deposits and suggested bids be solicited saying he thought better rates were available.

The Board approved the next school year meeting dates and then discussed hiring an architect firm to design a softball/ cheerleading building. The building will be constructed through a lease purchase agreement and will require 8 months to a year to complete. The Board also agreed to begin a Girls Slow Pitch Softball program to begin in the spring of 2019. Mr. Sternberger said a survey of high school girls indicated 12-15 were currently interested in such a program.

Coach Green was present and said this program would be a good way to keep the softball team in condition for the fall season.

The Board approved several fund raisers and with no resignations to consider turned to some additions to Board Policy.

First on the list involved advertising on school property. The new policy gives guidance to the Superintendent and limits business and individuals from advertising at school. They also approved a new policy that no longer permits Valentine deliveries to any of the schools. Finally, the Board ap-

proved a new policy for people with overdue lunch charges. Now, when a student’s lunch bill exceeds $50 unpaid, the student will not be allowed to participate in extra curricular activities including prom.

Mr. Sternberger reported the Heritage auditorium refurbishment is nearing completion with walls and ceiling repainted and seats to be installed. Completion is expected in the next 10 days. He also reported the high school is nearly complete with LED lighting installation with almost all classrooms done and outdoor lighting to be completed next. The firm will then turn to the other schools which they expect to have completed by the end of the month.

Supt. Sternberger reported the district enrollment to be 1527 which is very near last’s year’s enrollment. He said in 2011 the enrollment was 1280. Asked about the high school and competitive classes, M.r Sternberger said the enrollment is 427 which puts the district at the middle or near the bottom of all classes.

With no further business, the Board adjourned at 752PM.

Sickness Season By: Jayden Burleson/mh Fall has arrived! Everyone knows that with fall comes the cold and with cold comes many sicknesses. As your out and about at school work, etc. You interact with a bunch of people and can often catch germs and sicknesses from other people. Flu is the common sickness that floats about the air in the Fall.

Other common cold things such as a sore throat, cough, or stuffy noses can happen often. Strep throat is another big sickness on the board. Millions and millions of people world-wide acquire some type of sickness around fall or the winter season.

Some things you can do to prevent sickness is as follows: Get a Flu shot, getting the flu shot can help prevent the flu and other sicknesses.

Wash your hands! Washing your hands can help prevent spreading germs.

Avoid people who are sick or who have similar sick-like symptoms.

Keep your surroundings clean. Keeping areas around you clean and sanitized can help keep out sickness and the spreading of germs.

If you get sick , please stay home .Nobody wants your nasty sickness or the germs that comes with it. I hope you liked this article over sickness. Maybe these tips will help you this season. Have a Lovely Life!!

New Call of Duty: Black Ops VI By: Ashton Smith/kk The new Black Ops VI Will be a great experience because they continuing the original Zombies Trilogy. Not only are they bringing back the Transit characters, they’re keeping the main zombie characters like Dr. Richtofen, Tank Dempsy, Takeo Masaki, Nikolai Belinski.

Other than the zombies Treyarck did something unexpected and added a battle royale “Black Out”.

Black out is different from Fortnite and Pubg because it will only be first person and there will be more guns included in Blackout. Also Treyarch will be adding “perks to the game.” For example, reload faster, silent step, faster while crouched, and healing over time, etc.

You can tell that the perks are from the classic Black Ops multiplier.

The last thing that is a big change from the black out map is they’re adding old black ops maps into the game like turbine, nuketown, and the very classic summit and many other maps. The multiplier of the game will be new, for example its finally boots on ground, and the aim is way better than other games. Last the healing system will be way different, you will never heal over time anymore you have to take a shot to be healed. I’m very excited for Black Ops 4.

The Evolution of Black Ops Part 3

by Jonas Stitt/kk Continuing after part two after the death of the Victis crew mob taking place on Alcatraz island, four inmates try to escape and kill the warden. These inmates being Sal Daluca, Arlo Arlington, Fino Leary, and Billy Handsome.

They attempt to kill Ferguson, a warden who was beginning his rounds. Arlo acted in pain in order to attract the wardens attention and them kill him to get the keys.

They could then get out of their prison cells but soon after they get out they are overrun and killed gruesomely. Turns out they were in hell. Meanwhile in the real world in northern France at an excavation site, a group of Nazis are working to extract a meteor that has created a mound like area.

The meteor has the element in it that they use to create huge robots that roam the area. They wont allow anything to leave they also made copies of the original staffs.

On the KC Undercover edition episode 1 season 2 they are trying to get back in the spy business. It all started on the last season when KC turned her backs on the organization because she was trying to help her boyfriend or friend that he had to join her side because he saw good in him because he helped her complete her mission.

On that day they were taken out and brought back to their headquarters in Washington DC. Agent Johnsons who is the owner of the business, said they had a choice to either join back for one more mission or to leave the business for ever. They said yes and their mission was to stop the Jackal.

Their hardest mission was with him when they at last put him away they were almost killed. But first they had to get their robot daughter who they love even though that she is a robot. She was programmed not to contact the Coopers but she did it anyways.

It was the State Fair where he was gonna be to seek his revenge. He was gonna be in a disguise so the only way they were going to find him was with Judy the robot daughter. She can thermal scan which can detect people from all over the world.

She also has missiles attached to her just in case.

KC was disguised as her father so he wouldn’t know who it is. She was shot in the arm and almost pulled down by him. She was saved by her sister Judy before she fell and was rescued because she did not know who she was or what she was.

That’s how it all went down that night
