The Kingfisher High School Girls Cross Country team took first place at the 2018 4A State Championships last Saturday. The meet took place in Shawnee at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center. In the 3200 Run the team won first place with a score of 86 and a top 5 total average of 12:52.5, edging out Plainview HS by 4.3 seconds. In a field of 160 runners, Maddie St Cyr came in 5th, Zoey Evans in 10th, Katon Lunsford in 13th, followed by Madeline Loosen in 14th.

In the 5K Event, the KHS Boys took 9th place overall with senior Reece Lafferty leading the Yellowjacket runners with an 11th place finish, less than 10 seconds behind the leader. The Boys 5K fielded 161 runners in the 4A class.
The Kingfisher Yellowjackets Football team won their previous two district games of the 2018/2019 season against the Bridge Creek Bobcats and the Perkins-Tryon Demons Last Friday they faced a 6-1 Heritage Hall team, losing 27-35. Next up, the Yellowjackets will travel to Mt. Saint Mary to face the Rockets with a 7 p.m. kickoff. Photos by Rob Gruntmeir
