Sunday Fishing By: Eli Johnson/kk On Sunday I went bass fishing at a creek south of town. It is sort of like a spillway. It gets about 5 feet deep. I used a squarebill crankbait, a Texas rig, and a chatterbait. It was fairly slow with the crankbait, but I did catch a little one. The bass bit alright on the Texas rig; I believe I caught 3-4 ranging from 1-2 pounds. I caught another 3-4 on a chatterbait. One of them was around 4 pounds, but the others were smaller. It was a pretty good day for the creek. Later on Sunday, I went to a different part of the creek to go catfishing. For bait, I used live bluegill that I caught at the other creek on worms. I had a 2 oz weight and a 6o Gamakatsu circle hook. I casted the bluegill just out of the current, where the catfish love to hang out. On the first bluegill that I sent down, I caught about a 15 pound flathead catfish. Unfortunately, Mrs. Sinclair wouldn’t let me dissect it in her classroom, so I took it home and fileted it like I normally would with my 7 inch tapered flex Bubba Blade. I got good meat off of it. The best part of the catfish is the belly meat, believe it or not. Many people discard it. If you ever keep a catfish you catch, make sure to get all of the meat off of it and not let any of the beautiful animal go to waste.

More Apex Legends Rumors By: Deacon Harjo/kk Season 13 of Apex Legends has a lot of stuff coming and going. The map for the first two weeks is going to be Storm Point. The Spitfire is coming out of the care package and on the ground and the Kraber is getting a nerf. The Flatline and Longbow are coming out of the Replicator and the R-301 and Rampage (the most annoying gun to go against). It’s rumored that the Spitfire is getting replaced by the Mastiff but we can’t be too sure. The Spitfire is going back to the pre-care package stats and the Kraber nerf is going to drop the headshot damage from 435 to 280 without a helmet. 358 to 252 with a white helmet. 319 to 220 with a blue helmet. 290 to 189 with a purple helmet. 145 to 140 to the body. 116 to 112 to the legs. The Fully Kitted rotation might also be affected in the new season with the RE-45, Triple Take, Havoc, Peacekeeper, and Prowler going from fully kitted to normal weapons and other guns might be in the Fully Kitted rotation or not. These changes are subject to change so don’t expect it to be correct, it’s just a rumor. With the new season coming out, so are a lot of changes, some rumored and some for sure, whatever the case something is coming and something is going.

Traveling Abroad

Copyright and Copywriters

By: Donte Almanzar/kk By: Rayland Garner/kk When I graduate High School, I would love to travel all over the world, and maybe, perhaps, get a job that lets me do that. I love traveling with my brothers and some friends. If I did get the chance to travel any place I wanted to, I would definitely choose Japan. The reason is, because I love the Japanese culture, and I also really like anime which makes the experience even better. If I could, I would like to live in Japan for a few years, and teach myself Japanese in the process. It would be a better experience if I could go there with my friends and my brothers, because they all like the Japanese culture like me. In my opinion, I think I'm a nerd when it comes to that stuff, but I just find it really interesting, and so much more intriguing then our U.S. history/culture. That could also be because I have lived in the U.S. my whole life and I haven't really lived any other cultures other than the American one. I 100% will end up going to Japan, France, and probably Spain.

Why is copywriting a big deal? You may have asked yourself that many times. But it is your work that needs to be protected. “Contact a copyright owner or author as far as possible in advance of when you want to use the material specified in your permissions request. If they decline then you will no longer be able to use that creative slogan or idea. “ How do copywriters make money? Copywriters make money off of half of what you get from the idea or slogan you used. Salary is $47,838, with 80% of copywriters earning between $35k – $65k per year. So this copywriter is making bank. This all depends on how much you currently make off of the copyrighted work you’ve done. Copywriters are usually nice when getting to use their ideas. They’re making profit off of you using it anyways. The steps of what and who are copywriters are really simple. Just do not use the work without asking or you’ll end up behind bars. Copyright infringement is a 10-year sentence for using others' work without permission. This concludes jail time and a lawsuit after. Save the money and ask. If that doesn’t work, start a new idea. Jail isn’t worth art. Source: https://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ16a.pdf

Euphoria Actress

In My Perfect World

By: Khali Littlehawk/kk

Poetry by: Emerald Parmenter/kk

Sydney Sweeney is a talented actress, mostly known for her role in Euphoria. Sweeney has started her own production company and she is using it to uplift other female creators. The name of her production company is Fifty-Fifty Films. Her first project will be “The Players Table,” and it will star Sydney Sweeney herself and Halsey.

In my perfect world, sunset on the beach but never time. People would think cute and would never do bad things. People would wear cute things and eat strawberry and whip cream but jail and pizza would be against the rules. In my perfect world, there would be butterflies and beaches but never a bad side.

The show is likely to debut sometime this year and is written and directed by Annabelle Attanasio.

Families would come together and would never be apart .

Gen Zero By: Ayden Smith/kk Generation Zero is a wonderful open world game. That allows you to scavenge towns and bunkers for supplies and weapons. In Generation Zero there are many different types of robots that you will have to fight along the way. The first one is a small bug-like robot that is called a Tick. The next class is called a Seeker; if you were to get too close to one of these they would set off an alarm.

People would read good books and watch good tv/movies but alone from the family and kidnap would not even exist. In my perfect world, there would be calmness and sounds of waterfalls but no mosquitoes. Society would help people out but would not be a mean person. The government would let us free and not control us and would not be a bad government, and no one would even remember bad things or the world would end at all.

Then you have the Runner, which is the default robot you will see the most. Now things start to move on to bigger robots, like the Hunter, the more challenging default robot that you will see a lot. Then the big boys show up, like the Harvester, it's a big robot that has four legs and is the least deadliest of the big robots. Now you have the Tank which is built for combat, so expect a challenge. These next ones are new and more dangerous. The Wolf, a big cargo robot that can deploy small robots called a Lynx. The Lynx are on a ball and are fast with mobility. At last you have the scariest robot of them all, the Reaper. It can do everything the other robots can do, missiles, machine guns, even deploy Ticks.

Met Gala By: Khali Littlehawk/kk The 2022 Met Gala happened May 2 and the theme was Gilded Glamor. This years theme was easy to follow but that didn't stop many celebrities. However the one that did follow the theme, looked absolutely stunning. Blake Lively kills it every year and this year she is wearing Versace. Normani, Shawn Mendas, Maude Apatow, Evan Mock, and Megan Thee Stallion also had some of the best looks.

The Worst of the Met Gala 2022 By: Natalia Lupercio/kk This year’s Met Gala theme was “Gilded Glamor”. Last year’s Met Gala was the first one since 2019. The theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”. Many, including me, were disappointed as many didn’t even try to match the theme. My expectations this year were very low, yet the outfits this year lowered them more. If you do not know what the gilded age is, it was an era from the 1870s to 1900s. The fashion consisted of corsets, underneath, that were made to make the waist smaller. As for the design of the dress, the tops were long sleeves with big puffy shoulders, high neck, and tons of collars. The bottom was a solid color, had embroidery on it, and sometimes ruffled. It was also best to have the trest long in the back; to keep it from dragging on the ground they wound where an undergarment called a bustle that would lift it up. As for the men, it wasn’t too extravagant. They would mainly wear suits that had the back long. It would be paired with a top hat and cane. There are many different shows that people could have easily taken inspiration from. For example, HBO Max’s The Gilded Age. This show looks at the outfits from this era and adds a modern twist to it. It seemed as if many at the gala didn’t even bother to look up the phrase “Gilded Glamor”. Tons of celebrities are wearing more stuff from the mid-1900’s if anything. Kim Kardashian wore Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday” dress. They took it out of the museum just for her to wear. Marilyn was most popular in the 1950’s-60’s and wasn’t even alive in the Gilded Age. According to ScreenRant, “In response to a tweet from Vogue, user @bigreputayfan wrote, "So disrespectful to a historical piece." Some other fans were getting extremely upset about the implication that Kim is the Marilyn of today. Many pointed out that Marilyn was an orphan who worked her way to the top, while the Kardashian’s star was born into wealth. They also pointed out that the Gentlemen Prefer Blondes actress was a highly talented actress and singer, while Kim and her family are notoriously untalented.” . The overall opinion from the public is that Kim doesn’t deserve to wear a dress like this with the way she became prominent in the world. Kylie Jenner’s dress was also another one of the most hated outfits. She wore a floor length gown from off-white that was supposed to be a tribute to the creator that passed. The thing that ruined for many people was the white baseball cap.

Did you know that teenage boys (age 12-17) tend to earn less weekly than same-aged girls, but save more per A Proud Supporter of Kingfisher High School

Jacob Elordi, like many of the men attending, wore a black suit with some patches of sequins. How this was supposed to match the theme I don’t know. There were also many extravagant outfits that were good but didn’t match the theme at all. For example, Gigi Hadid wore a Versace oversized puffer jacket that extended into a train. While I did like this look, it would've been better at “Camp”. There were many dresses that were close but missed the mark. Gamma Chan’s dress was one of these. It seemed like she was trying to incorporate the bustle, but it was just thrown off by the rest of the outfit. Overall the Met disappointed me and I wish that there were more looks that actually matched the theme. Different Classes of D & D By: Eli Sanders/kk Throughout the various editions of the game Dungeons and Dragons, there have been many classes. Classes determine the kind of person your character is. For example, if your character is a Paladin, then they would be brave, holy, and most likely the leader of the party. If your character were a Rogue then they would be sneaky and probably a liar. In Dungeons and Dragons 5e there are 12 classes. The classes are as follows; Artificer, Bard, Monk, Barbarian, Druid, Wizard, Warlock, Ranger, Rogue, Paladin, Cleric, and Sorcerer. The different classes are different in their own ways. The Druid is basically a nature wizard. The Bard is described as a wizard who focuses their energy into song. The Paladin is essentially a holy knight. The Rogue is most known as a thief and a scoundrel. Ranger characters are usually fighters who utilize stealth and long-range weapons. With most classes, there are different paths that you can follow. For the Fighter, these paths are known as martial archetypes, and there are ten of them. The Fighter’s martial archetypes are the following: arcane archer, banneret, battle master, cavalier, champion, echo knight, eldritch knight, Psi warrior, Rune knight, and samurai. Each of these martial archetypes are technically subclasses. Each class has a number of subclasses and each subclass has its own features and strengths. The eldritch knight fighter subclass, for example, is one of few fighter classes to be able to use magic and spells. Each class is unique and each character is one of a kind. SO no matter what class, race, and background you pick, in the end it doesn’t matter, each has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Board of Education Report May 2, 2022 Reported by A. J. Johnson

The Kingfisher Board of Education met in regular session at 7PM on Monday, May 2, 2022 with all members present. Because of a large group of patrons and students attending, the Board voted to move the meeting to the High School Cafeteria. Reconvening at the high school, outgoing President Dana Golbek called the meeting to order and called for the annual reorganization of the Board. Jim Perdue was elected President, Charles Walker Vice-President and Dana Golbek Clerk. President Perdue called for public participation and Kingfisher faculty member Ms. Kuehn spoke urging the Board to support administrative plans to add classroom discipline training to the summer professional development. She said the training is badly needed as the teachers are dealing with students who have issues that are very different from the ones they grew up with. The Board had no comments and no action was taken since this was not an agenda item. The Board heard Principals discuss recent accomplishments of Kingfisher students and that the annual state testing was about to be completed. High School Principal Jay Wood praised the FFA program saying the students will attend the state convention where Ms. Thormosdgard will also be honored as a “teacher of the year.” He also commented on the number of state activities including golf and track with results at the next meeting. The Board approved previous minutes and then discussed and approved encumbrances (bills to pay) which included recent professional development and longevity stipends. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Daniel Craig said that tax money continues to flow in and that the General Fund is very healthy. The Board approved installing new roofing material on the former Middle School building and a temporary appropriations request to finance the district through the summer. They also approved routine contracts for services to the district and with a real estate agent to begin negotiations centered on the purchase of a house facing 13 th street at the west end of the track facility. The Board also appointed district clerks and fund coordinators. At 728PM, the Board discussed going into executive session to employ personnel. At this point, Board Member Terry Payne announced that he would not participate in an executive session for employment and recused himself. The other 4 members and Dr. Craig moved to the High School Library for their session. The Board returned from the executive session at 806PM to accept several resignations including from Ms. Bebermeyer, Ms. Ruhl, Ms. Jackson, and Junior High Principal Campbell. They then proceeded to employ several Gilmour, Heritage and Middle School teachers. They also employed Stuart Purintin as the Junior High Principal as well as a FCCLA teacher for the high school and David Glover as the District Wide Athletic and Operations Director. Next the Board reemployed a long list of certified administrators and teachers as well as summer employees. They also offered a “reasonable assurance of employment” for support staff as actual employment can’t come until the new fiscal year. The Board tabled extra-duty assignments until after July 1 when the new fiscal year begins and funding is known. Dr. Craig reminded the Board there will be 2 meetings in June and the Board adjourned at 814PM.
