This Halloween, let the “ladies” of the world-famous Baton Show Lounge show you just how fabulous and fun dressing up can be. There’s no question that these female impersonators will show you a good time. With electrifying performances to tunes by Whitney, Cher, Britney, Beyoncé and others, the Baton show has been attracting visitors and selling out shows for over 40 years.

From the opening number, the six divine divas Sasha, Chili Pepper, Sheri, Victoria, Maya, and Mimi, led by the hottest hostess in town, Ginger Grant, will dance and shake their way into your heart. With moves that may seem unbelievable, each of Baton’s starlets deliver crowd-pleasing performances that will have you singing along and begging for more.

Since its debut in 1969, the Baton has become the most prestigious and longest-running show of its kind.

Club owner Jim Flint’s vision, which started out with crates and plywood, has grown into a lovely group of entertainers who know how to bring Las Vegas cabaret to those hungry for Chicago’s wild side. Even more impressive, these ladies possess talent, which nobody can deny, showcasing their ability to do high-kicks, splits and alluring dance moves over the years for the likes of celebrity superstars like Madonna and Janet Jackson.

Mr. Flint and his cast of dancers have also landed spots on popular talk shows like Oprah and E! Entertainment Network, as viewers cannot seem to get enough of these Queens of Chicago.

It’s easy to think of Halloween as a primarily suburban affair, with costumed children wandering the cul-de-sacs in search of lit porches and their promise of free candy and front yards festooned with hay bales, scarecrows and jacko-lanterns. Even Michael Myers, that iconic knife-wielding psychopath from the horror classic “Halloween,” couldn’t be bothered with a trip into the city, preferring to terrorize Jamie Lee Curtis and her unlucky pals in the burbs during his night of door-to-door mayhem.

But even if the skyscrapers don’t have pumpkin-ready porches and the elevators present a logistical challenge for trick-or-treaters, Halloween is – and should be – an equalopportunity holiday to be enjoyed regardless of geography.

And Chicago certainly does its part in trying to reclaim the scares for its urban populous with three distinctive celebrations that combine the best of Halloween with the best of everything the city has to offer.

Out on Navy Pier, October means more than just the usual fun and games – it’s time for Halloween Happenings. With festive décor up and down the milelong boardwalk and special events all month long, this is one of the best Halloween celebrations in the area. And although it all wraps up at the end of the month, there’s still time to have some last-minute fun this weekend with fall fireworks on Saturday at 9pm, family-friendly activities like Patch’s Halloween Party and the Carnival of Curiosities on Saturday and Sunday, and, of course, good old-fashioned scares in The Fear Haunted House. Meanwhile in the Loop, the Halloween fun will be centered at Daley Plaza – or, as it’s known on the last weekend of October – Franken Plaza.
