Welcome to the first issue of Key to Mijas Costa for 2013. Despite the crisis, green shoots are beginning to appear and most venues are re-opening for the anticipated busy tourist season after refurbishment and spring cleaning! If you are looking for something a little bit different, especially on a dull or wet day, why not try a visit to Hammam Almanzor in La Cala Hills, a genuine Hammam which opened recently. We welcome Optica Laza of La Cala and Fuengirola back into the magazine. Optica Laza is opening a new branch in Calahonda soon both as an Optician and also as a dedicated Hearing Centre. Please see page 19 for more details. Age Care Association has recently opened an Advice Centre in DoĂąa Lola which I am sure that our older readers will find really helpful. Locals will also be able to meet up and make new friends at the weekly coffee mornings every Tuesday at 11.00 a.m. Our extensive restaurant guide begins on page 49. We welcome the return of restaurants that have been shut for the winter, new ones that we have found in the meantime and those that we like to visit all year round.
