Welcome to The Grange The Grange is an excellent independently run Care Home of character and distinction offering both Residential and 24 hour Nursing Care of the highest quality located in Chertsey, Surrey.

The late Georgian and Victorian house has many of its original features and is set among mature trees and shrubs in Surrey providing a beautiful setting for our residents to make themselves a home away from home.

We have up to 62 residents in single en suite rooms that are tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished.

We are dedicated to providing the highest level of quality care whilst recognising the importance of personal choice, individual dignity and privacy.

This brochure will give you the relevant information regarding our home and standards of care, the wide range of facilities and services we offer and how we work with each resident to provide a comfortable, clean, safe and stimulating environment. To fully appreciate the high quality service and care available and to discuss your individual requirements, we strongly recommend a personal visit and would be glad to welcome you into our home at a convenient time.

You cannot manage a Care Home without humanity or an understanding of the character of the individual.

Personal relationships should be at the heart of a Care Home.

Each resident can be as involved as they want to be and we pride ourselves on finding out each individual’s favourite pastimes, funniest stories and the game that they always win.

Living the Life at The Grange We believe that individual stimulation is fundamental to quality care and we employ an Activities Coordinator to organise a full programme of daily leisure activities for our residents, including crafts, exercise, quizzes, entertainers and musical afternoons.

We also encourage our residents to reminisce and share experiences and achievements with the help of photographs and memorabilia supplied by friends and relatives.We find this social interaction between the residents really helps to make them feel at home. Likewise, there is always a fresh supply of stimulating books, daily newspapers and other reading matter available.

There is a dedicated hairdressing salon where residents can get a short, back and sides or hair makeover from our visiting hairdressers. We also arrange appointments in-house for those residents requiring Chiropody and Manicures.

Home cooked food Residents enjoy a nutritious and varied menu using as much fresh local produce as possible. All our food is home cooked in our dedicated and modern kitchen. We cater for all special dietary requirements and preferences. We provide a menu of options for breakfast, lunch and our four-course supper each day.

Meals are served in the dining room or can be taken in the privacy of the resident’s own room if preferred, and visitors are welcome to dine with us. It is our policy to encourage residents to have a say in catering and management matters.

And of course, we make sure elevenses, afternoon tea and a pre-dinner sherry are offered to anyone that wants them.

Our dedicated team is responsible for agreeing and implementing plans tailored to individual needs and should changes to arrangements be necessary, we are happy to discuss matters with both the resident and their families.

Home is where the heart is The Grange has 62 bedrooms, each with its own en suite. The rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished yet retaining much of the character you would expect from a period home. Many of the rooms have views over our beautiful gardens and we try to give rooms with garden access to those that want it whenever we can.

All rooms have television points, call systems and are centrally heated to ensure maximum warmth and comfort at all times.

Residents are encouraged to bring personal items with them, including furniture should they so wish, to add that familiar touch to their surroundings.

Pop in and see us We have an open door policy and visitors are welcome at any time.

Visitors can come and see their friends and family at The Grange throughout the day – a cup of tea and a biscuit will welcome you on arrival. And there are a limited number of parking spaces on site to help make your visit even easier.

A sociable environment We have several large lounges where residents can socialise, read a newspaper or watch television, a separate dining room and a spacious conservatory which overlooks the large landscaped gardens.

In addition to our famous 100 foot tall ‘Wellington’ Cedar tree (estimated to be 200 years old), the garden boasts a wide selection of other trees and shrubs, a kitchen garden and a fishpond, both of which are contained within the private, walled garden.

We encourage residents to spend time in the garden whenever they wish and our team of gardeners are always happy to take advice from any of our resident green-fingered experts!

As moving to a care home can be a daunting experience, we go to great lengths, therefore, to make that transition as seamless as possible.

Quality Care We are acutely aware of just how daunting the prospect of a move to a Care Home can be to a person who has previously led a full and independent life. With this in mind, our aim is to ensure that each person is cared for in a manner to promote as much independence as possible with the appropriate support measures in place.

Qualified staff are on duty 24 hours a day and each member of our dedicated, caring team benefit from their own ongoing training programme that exceeds current Care Quality Commission standards. All staff are carefully selected and we will only recruit those who demonstrate the skills and commitment necessary to meet the needs of our residents in a friendly, courteous and kind manner.

Our staff turnover is very low and we consider it to be one of our strengths. The vast majority of our staff have been at The Grange for a very long time. As a result, we all have the benefit of getting to know our residents very well as individuals and they get to know us too.

Care Facilities The Grange is comprehensively equipped with all that is needed to promote a first-class quality of life including passenger lift, hoists and specialist baths on every floor. The in-house laundry provides a prompt, personal service for our residents.

We value the importance of ensuring that not just the care needs of each resident are met, but also their social, cultural, religious, spiritual and psychological needs as well.

Visiting Opticians, Nutritionists, Chiropodists, Physiotherapists, Dentists and the local Doctors are in regular attendance and assistance is always given with full respect to individual religious requirements.

The Grange is a non-smoking Home.

We actively encourage our residents to be fully involved, wherever possible, with their own care-planning using a fully holistic approach.

The original Grange is a very old property which has been fully modernised yet retains a lot of history and character. The new wings are purpose-built to provide a choice of small and larger units; each with their own bathroom.

How to find us We are situated in the town of Chertsey, at the bottom of the wooded St. Anne’s Hill, which has an integral park built into the middle of it. There is a little country pub immediately adjacent and a charming Steak House restaurant just a half a mile away. Thorpe Park is also in the immediate vicinity. Chertsey is 9 miles from Windsor, 5 miles from Weybridge and 6 miles from Ascot.
