Welcome to The Red House The Red House is an independently run Care Home of character and distinction offering both residential and 24-hour nursing care of the highest quality.

The large late Victorian house has many of its original features and is set amongst mature trees and shrubs in the highly favoured residential area of Ashtead, Surrey providing a beautiful setting for our residents to make themselves a home away from home. We have up to 25 residents at a time, in single rooms which are tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished.

In addition to 24-hour nursing care, we can also provide quality short term convalescent, respite and day care.

We are dedicated to providing the highest level of quality care whilst recognising the importance of personal choice, individual dignity and privacy.

This brochure will give you the relevant information regarding our Home and standards of care, the wide range of facilities and services we offer and how we work with each resident to provide a comfortable, clean, safe and stimulating environment. To fully appreciate the high quality service and care available and to discuss your individual requirements, we strongly recommend a personal visit and would be glad to welcome you into our home at a convenient time to yourself.

Each resident can be as involved as they want to be and we pride ourselves on finding out each individual’s favourite pastimes, funniest stories and the game that they always win.

Living the Life at The Red House We believe that individual stimulation is fundamental to quality care and we employ an Activities Coordinator to organise a full programme of daily activities for our residents, including crafts, exercise, quizzes, entertainers and musical afternoons.

We also encourage our residents to reminisce and share experiences and achievements with the help of photographs and memorabilia supplied by friends and relatives. We find this social interaction between the residents really helps to make them feel at home.

Our library ensures that there is always a fresh supply of books, daily newspapers, magazines and other reading matter available.

Our beautiful landscaped gardens with patio area, mature trees, flower beds and benches are ideal for a stroll or just sitting and relaxing.

We have recently added a dedicated hairdressing salon at The Red House where residents can get a short, back and sides or hair makeover from our visiting hairdresser.

Home cooked food Residents enjoy a nutritious and varied menu using as much fresh local produce as possible. All our food is home cooked and we cater for all special dietary requirements and preferences. We provide a menu of options for breakfast, lunch and our four-course supper each day.

Meals are served in the dining room or can be taken in the privacy of the resident’s own room if preferred, and visitors are welcome to dine with us.

And of course, we make sure elevenses, afternoon tea and a pre-dinner sherry are offered to anyone that wants them.

I have been confident that my husband was well looked after, as happy as he could be with his condition, and that all the carers, nurses and domestic staff treated him with love and dignity.

Home is where the heart is The Red House is home for up to 25 residents, in single rooms, tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished yet retaining much of the character you would expect from a period home. Many of the rooms have views over our beautiful gardens and we encourage our residents to use the gardens as much as possible... which they do.

Many rooms are en-suite and all have wash handbasins, televisions, nurse call systems and are centrally heated to ensure maximum warmth and comfort at all times.

Residents are encouraged to bring personal items with them to add that familiar touch to their surroundings.

Pop in and see us Visitors can come and see their friends and family at The Red House throughout the day – a cup of tea with biscuits and home-made cakes will welcome you on arrival. And we have parking spaces on site to help make your visit even easier.

Sociable spaces We have a large, newly refurbished lounge where residents can socialise, read a newspaper or watch television, a separate dining room and a spacious conservatory which overlooks the landscaped gardens.

We encourage residents to spend time in the garden whenever they wish and our team of gardeners are always happy to take advice from any of our resident green-fingered experts!

Our team is responsible for agreeing and implementing care plans, tailored to individual needs and the Registered Manager, and Senior Nursing Staff are always available to discuss personal requirements, adjust care plans or to answer any questions.

Quality Care We are acutely aware of just how daunting the prospect of a move to a Care Home can be to a person who has previously led a full and independent life. With this in mind, our aim is to ensure that each person is cared for in a manner to promote as much independence as possible with the appropriate support measures in place.

Qualified nursing staff are on duty 24 hours a day and each member of our dedicated, caring team benefit from their own ongoing training programme that exceeds current Care Quality Commission standards. All staff are carefully selected and we will only recruit those who demonstrate the skills and commitment necessary to meet the needs of our residents in a friendly, courteous and kind manner.

Our staff turnover is very low and we consider it to be one of our strengths. The vast majority of our staff have been at The Red House for a very long time. As a result, we all have the benefit of getting to know our residents very well as individuals and they get to know us too.

Personal relationships should be at the heart of any Home.

We value the importance of ensuring that not just the care needs of each resident are met, but also their social, cultural, religious, spiritual and psychological needs as well.

Care Facilities The Red House is comprehensively equipped with all that is needed to promote a first-class quality of life including passenger lift, hoists and specialist baths on every floor. The in-house laundry provides a prompt, personal service for our residents.

We value the importance of ensuring that not just the care needs of each resident are met, but also their social, cultural, religious, spiritual and psychological needs as well. We actively encourage our residents to be fully involved, wherever possible, with their own care-planning using a fully holistic approach.

Visiting Opticians, Nutritionists, Chiropodists, Physiotherapists, Dentists and the local Doctors are in regular attendance and assistance is always given with full respect to individual religious requirements.

We also maintain strong links with the local community, including our sponsorship of Ashtead Cricket Club.Visitors are always warmly welcomed and equally our residents are encouraged where possible to continue to pursue social interests outside of the Home. We also have our own transport.

The Red House is a non-smoking Home.

The Red House is situated in a select residential area between Epsom and Leatherhead, just a few minutes walk from Ashtead village with its full range of shops and amenities.
