Another year has passed, and we’re gearing up for the 2025 edition of our sale! A huge thank you to everyone who made the past year a great one.
While we took the fall show season off, the kids proudly represented us at multiple junior cattle shows, and we had the opportunity to attend a few tours throughout the year—catching up with old friends and making new ones along the way.
We are incredibly grateful for the many people who support us year-round—our families and friends—whether it’s helping at cattle shows, preg-checking, dropping off meals, or shuttling kids to activities when we’re stretched thin. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We truly appreciate each and every one of you.
To our past bidders and buyers, we sincerely appreciate your support. We love catching up and seeing how our animals are performing in your herd—it means the world to us.
As always, we welcome you to stop by anytime to walk through the bulls and talk cattle. Our sale will once again be held in the shop at the farm, broadcast live on DLMS, with the team from Provost Livestock Exchange handling the selling. Mark Holowaychuk from OBI will also be on hand. If you can’t make it in person, don’t hesitate to reach out to us or any of the sales crew—we’ll be happy to help you find the right animal for your program.

Pre-viewing the sale offering is Encouraged
Our program revolves around the momma cow. Our Sires, their dams and siblings are scrutinized heavily before purchasing. We concentrate on creating sound, fertile and easy fleshing females that will last. Most of our pastures are comprised of the steep Battle River hills, so foot and leg structure is key. Udders are a passion of ours; small teat size, properly spaced, adequate milk flow and suspension are a must. Our cows don’t get second chances, they raise a quality calf and come in bred on time or they catch a ride to town. We were told years ago to ‘Build the right cows and the bulls will take care of themselves’ and we stand by that motto today. We utilize AI and Embryo transfer to increase our rate of genetic advancement. The cows are on grass as long as possible. We work together with the Lloydminster Animal Hospital to provide a complete herd health program and Bullseye for our herd nutrition needs.
This year we thought we would try something new for us and give each bull a score to help you better understand where we feel they fit in terms of calving ease. Remember
• There are multiple factors that affect calving ease: Environment, Feed Program, and Genetics.
• Keep in mind that 50% of your calf’s genetic birth weight relates back to the mother’s genetics and birth weight.
• There is a correlation to birth weight and growth and they are directly related.
To Help you with your selection we have given the bulls a rating 1-5 star. Taking in mind the following criteria:
• Actual Birth Weight
• BW EPD Score
• CE EPD score
• Shape and build of the bull
• Consistency of birth weight and calving ease of sire and dam’s Pedigree
1 star - Recommended for cows only, with expected higher performance.
2 star - Recommended for Mature cows and younger cows.
3 star - Recommended for Cows and heifers with larger frame and lower birth genetics with some supervision.
4 star - Safe for heifers with limited supervision
5 star - What we expect to be safe to use on heifers with very little supervision and lower expected growth.

We were fortunate to acquire a limited amount of HF Kodiak semen, which we have used sapringly. Kodiak has cemented his place in Angus history as the sire of the first Canadian champion pen of three bulls to win at Denver. These tried, tested, and proven older genetics continue to make their mark. This young herd sire embodies those qualities, being out of a standout female destined for our donor program—a cow that commands attention and admiration. He is packed with power, dimension, and exceptional length of spine. Evaluate him from the ground up, and we’re confident he won’t disappoint. Additionally, his excellent temperament makes him a pleasure to handle, an attribute we know many value.

Here’s another opportunity to acquire a Jullian son, and we couldn’t be happier with the results we’ve seen from him. Our good friends at Harprey have had tremendous success with Jullian, both in the show ring and in their breeding program, producing many high sellers along the way. He’s been a reliable calving ease option for us, offering impressive curve-bending performance. We expect this calf to follow suit, with his smooth front, long spine, and undeniable “look-at-me” presence.

This young fella had a challenging start. As a twin, he was grafted onto a nurse cow but unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. He became an orphan and had to fend for himself. Despite the odds, he adapted incredibly well, which we find truly admirable. Once again, he’s a Jullian who will calve easily and produce a great group come fall. Mark him as a real sleeper.

We reintroduced him via AI after witnessing the exceptional quality of females produced by his sons - leaving mouth watering females in our customers herds. His dam was part of our April calving program, was bred early and has maintained that calving interval—a remarkable testament to her fertility.

This is the first calf from a Prime Cut daughter with an udder so perfect it could be a blueprint. She’s a standout in her age group. Unfortunately, a gate didn’t quite get chained properly and we had some bulls go for a tour, so he will sell without papers. Sired by a Purebred Black Angus sire, just not sure who so he sells as unregistered. That won’t change his ability to cover your cows or heifers

This Bravo son is out of Quinn’s past 4-H cow who she had a lot of success with in her show career. She is a moderate framed, Kingsman daughter, that is superb in her udder design. This bull might have as much balance and style as any in the sale. Moderate framed with plenty of shape, big top and hip to him.

The first of a new sire group featuring Duralta Sandman sons. Sandman was a massive-ribbed, powerful bull we were excited about, but he was unfortunately injured after his first year of service. His offspring will be in short supply. This bull follows his sire’s pattern—stout is the best way to describe them.

Longevity and fertility bred into this fella. His dam just had her 16th calf a few days before I write these footnotes and is still going strong. Stout made rascal that does things right were it really matters.
Another that has the Sandman stamp. Brood muzzled and masculine in their crest, early maturing sire group. This fella is one that has grabbed our attention from early on. One of the youngest bulls in the sale but you would never know it. Dam has produced a herd bull working at Movin On Farms as well as HMD Farms. Grandam 326B Donor has written quite a list of accolades in her history as well.

We love the herd bull character and presence this chunk exhibits. From his strong skull and crest up front to his wide base and massive hip, he’s built to add power. The Bravo calves have been as consistent as any sire group we’ve ever had—extremely easy fleshing with plenty of mass, muscle, and substance.
A calving ease option with impressive growth numbers to back it up. The Andee cow family has been a go-to for low-birthweight genetics, and this bull follows suit. His sire, Jag 100J, was a home-raised Resource son we used as a yearling before selling as a two-year-old to Code Ranches

We were fortunate to be able to run some heifers at our good friend Mike Ferguson at CNI Ranching and his herd sire K Lazy T Angus Ranch 84’21. He was a sire I had bought for Mike at Traxel’s sale and was sure pleased to be able to sample ourselves. He did a real nice job and left some excellent offspring of both sexes. RED PEDERSEN LASSIE 22H
A full sibling to our lead-off and high-selling red bull from last year, sold to BMB Brewin for $11,000. Sired by Fortress 82H, the 2022 Farmfair Reserve Champion Bull! Fortress daughters are now in production and are making a significant impact here—easy-fleshing, big-ribbed females that are extremely full in their heart girth. His grandam, Lassie 112E, was the first red female to enter our Donor Program, and his dam, 22H, is following closely in her footsteps. Turn him loose on a set of heifers, then move him onto the cow herd—and make sure to keep every daughter.

A standout in our red division, this bull may be one of the best we’ve bred on the red side. Direct Copenhagen sons are rare these days, and his pedigree includes our first red female to enter our donor program. We only flush females who have proven their worth, and 112E has done so in spades. Her daughter, 22H, followed suit by producing last year’s high seller. This dark red stud is well-structured, good-footed, and loaded with rib shape.

Kurt, Becky, Quinn, Trigg, and Tell of Pedersen Livestock have been a pleasure to work with, year after year. They are keen seedstock producers and have a deep set of Red and Black Angus yearling and 2 year olds. In my opinion, this is their most consistent and high quality set of bulls to date. I hope you can see this set of bulls in person.
The cowherd utilizes a year round chelated mineral program that is balanced to the cow’s requirements and feed sources. This supports proper bull calf health and development from a young age. The bull development program is built to maximize forage utilization and gut health. All forages are sampled and analyzed to ensure quality feed sources are used. Once the calves are weaned, they are slowly transitioned to a TMR. The TMR is forage based and is designed to promote lean muscle growth,
allowing the bulls to express their genetic potential. Rumen health is of upmost importance, which is why suitable protein sources and proper starch levels are fed to the bulls. A probiotic is fed to optimize rumen efficiency. Chromium is now utilized in the bull ration. Chromium is an essential micromineral that most feeds are deficient in, and it aids in glucose absorption and increases protein accretion. This allows bulls to better withstand effects of heat and cold stress. The bulls remain on a TMR that stays at the same energy level all winter, allowing the bulls to grow consistently and safely.
Pedersen Livestock uses a total nutrition program on their entire operation, ensuring optimal performance and health of their cattle. If you have any questions about the nutrition of the sale bulls, please feel free to call.
Best of luck sale day!
