Raku Technique & Firing with Shelley F. Spranza Begin learning the ancient Japanese glazing and firing technique of Raku. Students will work with pottery clay to create non-functional hand built and/or wheel thrown forms in some of the traditional forms of the Japanese style. Students will learn about the history of Raku and will observe a Raku firing during the six week course, at which time their choice of five of the completed works will be fired, weather permitting. Pre-requisite: Students must have taken at least one term of our beginning ceramics class.
