CNHUKLtdwarrantsthatyournew1996andlaterheavy-dutyoff-roaddieselenginewasdesigned,built,andequippedtoconformto applicableU.S.EnvironmentalProtectionAgencyregulationsforaperiodofuseoffiveyearsor3,000hoursofoperation,whicheveroccurs first.

Thenewmodelyear,classofdieselengine,andemissionapplicationdet erminationforyourengineareidentifiedontheemissioncontrol informationlabelaffixedtotheengine.thewarrantyperiodbegins onthedatethenewequipmentissoldtothefirstretailpurchaser.

Anyemissioncontrolsystempartswhichareprovendefectiveduringnormalusewillberepairedorreplacedduringthewarrantyperiod.the warrantyrepairsandservicewillbeperformedbyanyauthorizedCNHdealer atthedealer’splaceofbusiness,withnochargeforpartsor labor(includingdiagnosis).

Astheengineowner,youareresponsibletoperformalltherequiredmaintenancelistedinyourowner’smanual.CNHUKLtdwillnotdenyan emissionwarrantyclaimsolelybecauseyouhavenorecordofmaintenance;however,aclaimmaybedeniedifyourfailuretoperform maintenanceresultedinthefailureofawarrantedpart.Receiptscoveringregularmaintenanceshouldberetainedintheeventofquestions andthesereceiptsshouldbepassedontoeachsubsequentowneroftheengine.

ItisrecommendedreplacementpartsusedformaintenanceorrepairsbeCNH ServicePartstomaintainthequalityoriginallydesignedinto youremissioncertifiedengine.theuseofnon-CNHpartsdoesnotinvalidatethewarrantyonothercomponentsunlesstheuseofsuchparts causesdamagetowarrantedparts.

CNHUKLtdwishestoassuretheemissioncontrolsystemswarrantyisbei ngproperlyadministered.Ifyoubelieveyouhavenotreceivedthe serviceentitledtounderthiswarranty,youshouldcontactthenearestCNHOfficeforassistance.theaddressandphonenumberofeach Officeisinyourequipmentowner’smanual.Ifadditionalassistanceorinformationisneeded,contact:

CALIFORNIAEMISSIONCONTROLWARRANTYSTATEMENT (CaliforniaOnly)

YourWarrantyRightsandObligations

TheCaliforniaAirResourcesBoardandCNHUKLTDarepleasedto explaintheemissioncontrolsystemwarrantyonyourengine.In California,new2004andlaterheavy-dutyoff-roadenginesfrom50to750HPmustbedesigned,builtandequippedtomeettheState’s stringentanti-smogstandards.CNHUKLTDmustwarranttheemissionc ontrolsystemonyourenginefortheperiodsoftimelistedbelow, providedtherehasbeennoabuse,neglectorimpropermaintenanceofyourengine. Youremissioncontrolsystemincludespartssuchasthefuelinjectionsystemandtheairinductionsystem.

Whereawarrantableconditionexists,CNHUKLTDwillrepairyourheavy-dutyoff-roadengineatnocosttoyouincludingdiagnosis,parts andlabor.

Manufacturer’sWarrantyCoverage:

The2004andlaterheavy-dutyoff-roadenginesarewarrantedfromtheoriginaldateofdeliveryforfiveyearsor3000hoursofoperation, whicheveroccursfirst.Ifanyemission-relatedpartonyourengi neisdefective,thepartwillberepairedorreplacedbyCNHUKLTD.

Owner’sWarrantyResponsibilities:

• Astheheavy-dutyoff-roadengineowner,youareresponsiblefortheperformanceoftherequiredmaintenancelistedinyourowner’s manual.CNHUKLTDrecommendsthatyouretainallreceipts coveringmaintenanceonyourheavy-dutyoff-roadengine,butCNH UKLTDcannotdenywarrantysolelyforthelackofreceiptsorforyourfailuretoensuretheperformanceofallscheduledmaintenance.

• Astheheavy-dutyoff-roadengineowner,youshould,however,beawarethatCNHUKLTDmaydenyyouwarrantycoverageifyour heavy-dutyoff-roadengineoraparthasfailedduetoabuse,negl ect,impropermaintenanceorunapprovedmodifications.

• Yourengineisdesignedtooperateoncommerciallyavailabledieselfuelonly.Useofanyotherfuelmayresultinyourenginenolonger operatingincompliancewithCalifornia’semissionsrequirements.

• Youareresponsibleforinitiatingthewarrantyprocess.theARBsuggeststhatyoupresentyourheavy-dutyoff-roadenginetoaCNH dealerassoonasaproblemexists.the warrantyrepairsshouldbecompletedby thedealerasexpeditiouslyaspossible.

• Ifyouhaveanyquestionsregardingyourwarrantyrightsandresponsibilities,youshouldcontactyournearestCNHOfficeattheaddress andtelephonenumberlistedontheOwnerAssistancepageofyourequipment’soperatormanual.

• Priortotheexpirationofthewarranty,youmustgivenoticeofany failureofanemissioncontrolwarrantedpart.Suchnoticemustbe giventoCNHUKLTDoranauthorizedCNHdealer,andyoumustdelivertheenginetotherepairlocation.

• You,theowner,areresponsibleforincidentalcostsincurredbyyourselforyouremployeesasaresultofanunwarrantablefailure. Examplesofsuchcostsarecommunicationexpenses,mealsandlodging.

• Theownerisresponsibleforanybusinesscostsorlosses,any “downtime”expensesandany“cargo”damagewhichresultfromthe failureofawarrantedpart.CNHUKLTDisnotresponsibleforotherincidentalorconsequentialdamages,including,butnotlimited tofines,theft,vandalismorcollisions.

Anyreplacementpart,equivalentinperformanceanddurability,maybeusedintheperformanceofanymaintenanceorrepairsandmust beprovidedwithoutchargetotheowner.theuseoftheseparts doesnotreducethewarrantyobligationsofCNHUKLTD.However,CNH UKLTDrecommendstheuseofnew,genuineCNHservicepartsorCNHapprovedrebuiltpartsandassemblies.CNHUKLTDalso recommendsthattheenginebeservicedbyaCNHauthorizeddealer.

CNHUKLTDResponsibilities:

Warrantyworkwillbeprovidedatnochargetotheowneratanyauthorizeddealer,usinggenuineCNHservicepartsorCNHapprovedrebuilt partsorassemblies.

Theownerwillnotbechargedfordiagnosticlaborwhichleadstothedeterminationthatawarrantedpartisdefective,ifthediagnosticwork wasperformedatawarrantystation.

CNHUKLTDisliablefordamagestootherenginecomponentscausedbythefailureunderwarrantyofanywarrantedpart.

WarrantyLimitations

CNHUKLTDisnotresponsibleforfailuresresultingfromabuseorneglectbyowneroroperator.

CNHUKLTDwarrantstotheultimatepurchaserandeachsubsequent purchaserthattheengineisdesigned,built,andequippedsoasto conformwithallapplicableregulationsadoptedbytheAirResourcesBoard,andthatitisfreefromdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanship whichcausethefailureofawarrantedpart.

Anywarrantedpartwhichisnotscheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenance,orwhichisscheduled onlyforregularinspectionto theeffectof“repairorreplaceasnecessary”iswarrantedforthewarrantyperiod.

Anywarrantedpartwhichisscheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenanceiswarrantedfortheperiodoftimepriortothefirstscheduled replacementpointofthatpart.

CNHUKLTDisnotliabletowarrantfailurescausedbytheuseofadd-onormodifiedparts.

CNHUKLTDisconcernedtoensurepropermaintenanceoftheengineto maximiseemissionsperformance.Informationoncareand replacementofengineaircleaner,andallotheraspectsofenginemaintenanceisprovidedinamanualsuppliedtotheowner.Amaintenance schedulechartisprovidedinthemanual.

Ifatanytimeyourequireadviceconcerningyour tractor,donothesitatetocontactyourauthorised dealer.Hehasfactorytrainedpersonnel,genuine manufacturers’partsandthenecessaryequipment tocarryoutallyourservicerequirements.

Yourtractorhasbeendesignedandbuilttogive maximumperformance,economyandeaseof operationunderawidevarietyofoperating conditions.Priortodelivery,thetractorwascarefully inspected,bothatthefactoryandbyyourdealerto ensurethatitreachesyouinoptimumcondition.To maintainthisconditionandensuretrouble--free operation,itisimportantthattheroutineservices,as specifiedinSection4ofthisManual,arecarriedout attherecommendedintervals.

OPERATORSMANUALSTORAGE

TheOperatorsManualsuppliedwithyourtractoris animportantsourceofinformationandshouldbe storedsafely.

Themanualiswrittenspecificallyforyourtractorso itisimportantthatyoumakeanoteoftheprint numberandissuedatewhichcanbefoundonthe cover.Intheeventthemanualislostordamagedit canbereplacedwiththecorrectversion.

AstoragepocketfortheOperatorsManualcanbe foundontherearoftheseat.Themanualshouldbe keptinthispocketatalltimeswhennotinuse.

CLEANINGTHETRACTOR

Yourtractorisastate-of-the-artmachinewith sophisticated,electroniccontrols.Thisshouldbe takenintoconsiderationwhencleaningthetractor, particularlyifusingahighpressurewasher.Even thougheveryprecautionhasbeentakento safeguardelectroniccomponentsandconnections, thepressuregeneratedbysomeofthesemachines issuchthatcompleteprotectionagainstwater ingresscannotbeguaranteed.

Whenusingahighpressurewasher,donotstandtoo closetothetractorandavoiddirectingthejetat electroniccomponents,electricalconnections, breathers,seals,fillercaps,etc.Neverdirectacold waterjetatahotengineorexhaust.

ELECTRO-MAGNETICINTERFERENCE(EMC)

ThistractorcompliesstrictlywiththeEuropean Regulationsonelectro-magneticemissions. However,interferencemayariseasaresultof add-onequipmentwhichmaynotnecessarilymeet therequiredstandards.Assuchinterferencecan resultinseriousmalfunctionoftheunitand/orcreate unsafesituations,youmustobservethefollowing:

• Ensurethateachpieceofnon-CaseIH equipmentfittedtothetractorbearstheCE mark.

• Themaximumpowerofemissionequipment (radio,telephones,etc.)mustnotexceedthe limitsimposedbythenationalauthoritiesofthe countrywhereyouusethetractor.

• Theelectro-magneticfieldgeneratedbythe add-onsystem shouldnotexceed24V/matany timeandatanylocationintheproximityof electroniccomponents.

Failuretocomplywiththeseruleswillrenderthe CaseIHwarrantynullandvoid.

IMPORTANT: Itisimportantthe50hourserviceis carriedoutasrecommendedtoensureyourtractor providesoptimumperformanceandefficiency.

Afteryouhaveoperatedthetractorfor50hours,take yourtractor,togetherwiththisManual,toyour dealer.Hewillthenperformthefactory recommended50hourserviceandcompletethe servicereportsheets(pages8--1and8--3).Thefirst sheet(page8--1)isthedealer’scopyandshouldbe removedbythedealeraftertheservicehasbeen carriedout.Thesecondsheet(page8--3)isyour copyoftheserviceperformed. Ensurethatyouand thedealersignbothcopies.

SERVICEPARTS

Itshouldbepointedoutthatgenuinepartshavebeen examinedandapprovedbytheCompany.The installationand/oruseof‘non-genuine’products couldhavenegativeeffectsuponthedesign characteristicsofyourtractorandtherebyaffectit’s safety.TheCompanyisnotliableforanydamage causedbytheuseof‘non--genuine’partsand accessories.OnlygenuineCaseIHreplacement partsshouldbeused.Theuseofnon-genuineparts mayinvalidatelegalapprovalsassociatedwiththis product.

Itisprohibitedtocarryoutanymodificationstothe tractorunlessspecificallyauthorised,inwriting,by theAfterSalesServicedepartmentoftheCompany.

WARRANTY

Yourtractoriswarrantedaccordingtolegalrightsin yourcountryandthecontractualagreementwiththe sellingdealer.Nowarrantyshall,however,applyif thetractorhasnotbeenused,adjustedand maintainedaccordingtotheinstructionsgiveninthe Operator’sManual.

USEOFBIODIESELFUELS

IMPORTANT: BeforeusingBiodieselfuelsinyour tractor,refertotheinformationonpage4--5 regardingthestorageanduseofBiodieselfuels.

EMISSIONCONTROLS

ATTENTION:Theengineandfuelsystem onyour machineisdesignedandbuilttogovernment emissionsstandards.Tamperingbydealers, customers,operatorsandusersis strictly prohibitedbylaw. Soil,airandwaterarevitalfactorsofagricultureand lifeingeneral.Wherelegislationdoesnotyetrulethe treatmentofsomeofthesubstanceswhichare requiredbyadvancedtechnology,commonsense shouldgoverntheuseanddisposalofproductsofa chemicalandpetrochemicalnature.

Thefollowingarerecommendationswhichmaybeof assistance:

• Becomeacquaintedwithandensurethatyou understandtherelativelegislationapplicableto yourcountry.

• Wherenolegislationexists,obtaininformation fromsuppliersofoils,filters,batteries,fuels,anti freeze,cleaningagents,etc.,withregardtotheir effectonmanandnatureandhowtosafelystore, useanddisposeofthesesubstances. Agriculturalconsultantswill,inmanycases,be abletohelpyouaswell.

HELPFULHINTS

1.Avoidfillingtanksusingunsuitablecontainersor inappropriatepressurisedfueldeliverysystems whichmaycauseconsiderablespillage.

2.Ingeneral,avoidskincontactwithallfuels,oils, acids,solvents,etc.Mostofthemcontain substanceswhichcanbeharmfultoyourhealth.

3.Modernoilscontainadditives.Donotburn contaminatedfuelsand/orwasteoilsinordinary heatingsystems.

4.Avoidspillagewhendrainingoffusedengine coolantmixtures,engine,gearboxandhydraulic oils,brakefluids,etc.Donotmixdrainedbrake fluidsorfuelswithlubricants.Storethemsafely untiltheycanbedisposedofinaproperwayto complywithlocallegislationandavailable resources.

5.Moderncoolantmixtures,i.e.antifreezeand otheradditives,shouldbereplacedeverytwo years.Theyshouldnotbeallowedtogetintothe soilbutshouldbecollectedanddisposedof safely.

6.Donotopentheair-conditioningsystemyourself. Itcontainsgaseswhichshouldnotbereleased intotheatmosphere.Yourdealerorair conditioningspecialisthasaspecialextractorfor thispurposeandwillhavetorechargethe systemanyway.

7.Repairanyleaksordefectsintheenginecooling orhydraulicsystemimmediately.

8.Donotincreasethepressureinapressurised circuitasthismayleadtothecomponents exploding.

9.Protecthosesduringweldingaspenetrating weldsplattermayburnaholeorweakenthem, causingthelossofoils,coolant,etc.

DRIVINGTHETRACTOR

1.Alwayssitinthedriver’sseatwhilestartingor drivingthetractor.

2.Whendrivingonpublicroads,have considerationforotherroadusers.Pullintothe sideoftheroadoccasionallytoallowany followingtraffictopass.Donotexceedthelegal speedlimitsetinyourcountryforagricultural tractors.

3.Usearotatingbeaconand/orSlowMoving Vehiclewarningwhendrivingonpublicroadsto indicatethatthevehicleisslowmovingandisa possiblehazard.

4.Dipthetractorlightswhenmeetingavehicleat night.Makesurethelightsareadjustedto preventblindingthedriverofanoncoming vehicle.

5.Reducespeedbeforeturningorapplyingthe brakes.Brakebothwheelssimultaneouslywhen makinganemergencystop.Ensurethatboth brakepedalsarelockedtogetherwhentravelling atroadspeedsorwhenonpublicroadstoensure correctoperationoftrailerbrakes,balanced operationofthetractorbrakesandfourwheel braking(4WDtractorsonly).

6.Donotpermitanyonebuttheoperatortorideon thetractorexceptfordrivertrainingor instruction.Whenusedforthesepurposesan additionalseatmaybefittedinthecab. Passengersshouldnotbecarriedonthetractor atanytime.

7.Keepchildrenawayfromthetractorandfarm machineryatalltimes.

8.Donotmodifyoralterorpermitanyoneelseto modifyoralterthetractororanyofits componentsoranytractorfunctionwithoutfirst consultingyourdealer.

6.Onfourwheeldrivetractors,thedrivetothefront axleisautomaticallyengaged,toprovidefour wheelbraking,whenbothfootbrakesare applied.Ownersshouldbeawareofthe effectivenessoffourwheelbrakingwhichgreatly enhancesbrakingperformance.Appropriate careshouldbeexercisedduringfiercebraking.

8.Keepthetractorinthesamegearwhengoing downhillaswouldbeusedwhengoinguphill.Do notcoastorfreewheeldownhills.

9.Forsafeoperationanytowedvehiclewhosetotal weightexceedsthatofthetowingtractormustbe equippedwithabraking systemthat complies withthelegalrequirementsofthatcountry.

10.Neverapplythedifferentiallockwhenturning. Whenengaged,thedifferentiallockwillprevent thetractorfromturning.

11.Alwayscheckoverheadclearance,especially whentransportingthetractor.Watchwhereyou aregoing,especiallyatrowends,onroadsand aroundtreesandlowoverhangingobstacles.

12.Toavoidoverturns,drivethetractorwithcareand atspeedscompatiblewithsafety,especially whenoperatingoverroughground,when crossingditchesorslopesandwhenturning corners.

OPERATINGTHETRACTOR

1.Applytheparkingbrake,placetheP.T.O.control inthe‘OFF’position,theliftcontrolleverinthe downposition,theremotecontrolvalveleversin theneutralpositionandthetransmissionlevers inneutralbeforestartingthetractor.

2.Donotstarttheengineoroperatecontrols(other thanexternallylocatedhydraulicliftorP.T.O. switches,iffitted)whilestandingbesidethe tractor.Alwayssitinthetractorseatwhen startingtheengineoroperatingthecontrols.

3.DonotbypassthetransmissionandP.T.O. neutralstartswitches.Consultyourauthorised dealerifyourneutralstartcontrolsmalfunction. Usejumpleadsonlyintherecommended manner.Improperusecanresultinatractor runaway.

13.Useextremecautionwhenoperatingonsteep slopes.

14.Ifthetractorbecomesstuckorthetyresare frozentotheground,reversethetractoroutto preventoverturning.

4.Avoidaccidentalcontactwiththegearshift leverswhiletheengineisrunning.Unexpected tractormovementcanresultfromsuchcontact.

5.Donotgetoffthetractorwhileitisinmotion.

6.Ifthepowersteeringorengineceasesoperating, stopthetractorimmediatelyasthetractorwillbe moredifficulttocontrol.

7.Beforeleavingthetractor,parkthetractoron levelground,applytheparkingbrake,lower attachedimplementstotheground,disengage theP.T.O.andstoptheengine.

However,noise(soundpressurelevel)inthe workplacecanexceed85dB(A)whenworking betweenbuildingsorinconfinedspaces,with cabwindowsopen.Therefore,itis recommendedthatoperatorswearsuitableear protectorswhenoperatinginhighnoiselevel conditions.

12.AlwaysselectPositionControlwhenattaching equipmentandwhentransportingequipment.Be surehydrauliccouplersareproperlymounted andwilldisconnectsafelyincaseofaccidental detachmentoftheimplement.

10.Donotrunthetractorengineinanenclosed buildingwithoutadequateventilation.Exhaust fumesaretoxicandcancausedeath.

11.Pullonlyfromthepick-uphitch,swinging drawbarorthelowerlinkdrawbarinthelowered position.Useonlyadrawbarpinthatlocksin place.Pullingfromthetractorrearaxleorany pointabovetheaxlemaycausethetractorto overturn.

13.Ifthefrontendofthetractortendstorisewhen heavyimplementsareattachedtothe three--pointhitch,installfrontendorfrontwheel weights.Donotoperatethetractorwithalight frontend.

14.Engagetheclutchslowlywhendrivingoutofa ditch,gullyorupasteephillside.Disengagethe clutchpromptlyifthefrontwheelsriseoffthe ground.

15.Ensureanyattachedequipmentoraccessories arecorrectlyinstalled,areapprovedforusewith thetractor,donotoverloadthetractorandare operatedandmaintainedinaccordancewiththe instructionsissuedbytheequipmentor accessorymanufacturer.

16.Rememberthatyourtractor,ifabusedor incorrectlyused,canbedangerousandbecome ahazardbothtotheoperatorandtobystanders. Donotoverloadoroperatewithattached equipmentwhichisunsafe,notdesignedforthe particulartaskorispoorlymaintained.
