What a wonderful term we have had at KentCollegeDubai.Wearesodelightedto sharesomeofthesehighlightswithyouin this term’s newsletter. A huge congratulations and thanks to all who participated in our production of The Little Red Hen. The students and teachers worked tirelessly and it resulted in a wonderful performance! My Teaching Career

I have been a teacher for many, many years and currently my favorite topic to teach is English because I enjoy the children sparkling with excitement when they have used powerful language. The old school that i used to teach were based in the UK in the South West of the country. My favorite part about teaching in general and in KCD is learning about the different cultures of children and staff.

Learner Champions

At KCD we have 10 Learner Profile attributes that have been created through careful collaboration between pupils and teachers. Pupils work towards these ten attributes throughout the year, we have focussed school assemblies to teach each other about the importance of these, highlighting the benefits of each.

This term, we have talked to teachers, observed pupils in the playground and talked to pupils in the Junior School to find excellent examples of pupils demonstrating this. We have named them ‘Learner Champions’, read on to find out why they have been awarded this significant title.

At Kcd (Kent College

Dubai,)we are sustainable because we like taking care of our environment by cleaning after ourselves. In Kcd, we have multiple bins specially mador collecting bottles to Recycle then and use them to create fabric.

At Kcd (Kent college

Dubai), we care for our environment and follow the three Rs: Reuse Reduce, Recycle.

Kent college Dubai is having a sustainability competition to see who designs the most sustainable project to help the environment, this event will end on the 6th of February 2023.

At our school, we have many solar panels at the top of the parking spots to create out own electricity. At Kcd , we take care of our environment and we even have our own small eco-garden where we grow our own plants.

Ramadan

Muslims read pages of the Quran (the Holy book of Muslims). In some schools, during Ramadan they do a special dance with lanterns.

In Ramadan people fast until the evening so they wake up in the middle of the night or early morning to eat! They also eat a date before they eat their dinner or break their fast.

Some people choose to pray at mosques others do it in a quiet space at work or home.

They also pray throughout the day to help them focus.

Dubai we have both a girls sports team and a boys team witch gives a little diversity in teams.

What do you like about KCD sport? Everyone has opportunity with sports here at our school.

What don’t you like about kcd sports? We only get the opportunity to play school in Dubai, it would be great to compete with others schools in the UAE.

What is your favourite sport?Aquathlon

Do you see potential in the students?They surprise me each day, the pupils here at KCD are amazing.

Who is your favourite out of the PE staff? Ms Corish is hardworking and enthusiastic.

What do you like about teaching? It’s an inspirational job, you are teaching the next generation which is a big deal.
