The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu once said, “Even the longest journey begins with a single step” and in a similar way Kingfisher Drinks’ journey started with a single brand.

We were founded more than 30 years ago to distribute an iconic Indian beer of the same name. And while Kingfisher Beer has since become one of the 20 biggest beer brands in the world, likewise Kingfisher Drinks has spread its wings and flourished.

As consumer tastes have become ever more sophisticated, the same old brands have become tired and boring. People want more. They are searching out something different, something exciting, something a little outside of the norm. A brand’s country of origin will always leave an indelible mark on its DNA. The history, the ingredients and the production method are all influenced by where a brand is from and they all contribute to its unique flavour and individual presentation.

Take Krušovice, first brewed just a few miles from where the noble Saaz hops were originally grown in the Czech Republic. And just as the terroir profoundly influences the flavours and aromas of a wine, so these original bohemian hops are an essential part of what makes Krušovice the beer that it is today. Similarly, Kingfisher Beer was created in India by brewmasters that admired the classic European Pilsners. While their market desired a beer of that style, they knew that the climate in South Asia meant that they'd have to make it touch lighter and a little sweeter to refresh consumers in such humid conditions. It’s because of this that the taste of Kingfisher is unequivocally linked to its country of origin.

It is essential to us that each of the drinks in our hand-picked range captures a true reflection of the fascinating cultures that inspired them. A BIT OF HISTORY

Kingfisher's roots trace all the way back to 1857 when five of India’s most prominent breweries joined forces. United Breweries, as they became known, wanted to develop a flavourful Pilsner, inspired by the classic European style but lighter on the palate to refresh its consumers in the humid subcontinent.

Setting its wings to the UK market more than three decades ago, Kingfisher continues its legacy - brewed on British soil using the same revered recipe that earned it the status of a national treasure in India.

The iconic brew is crafted with the renowned Saaz hops, which form the heart of its perfectly balanced Pilsner-style lager.

Hailing from the Czech Republic, Saaz stands as a paragon among hops, prized for its delicate nature and low alpha acid content. Its ethereal floral aroma, subtle spice, herbal tones and mild bitterness play a pivotal role in creating nuanced and distinguished brews - particularly in crafting iconic lagers like Pilsners.

The meticulous brewing process, encompassing a staggering 200 different checks, stands as a testament to Kingfisher’s unwavering commitment to excellence.

This dedication has rightfully earned Kingfisher numerous global awards, solidifying its place among the elite in the world of brewing.

New for 2024, Kingfisher Zero is the alcohol-free variant of the famous lager brand. Carefully crafted to embody the same flavour as Kingfisher Premium, Zero is brewed from only natural ingredients to replicate its taste and feel - just without the alcohol.

A long-requested addition, Zero arrives hot on the tail of figures from the Portman Group’s survey with YouGov, which revealed that 44% of consumers aged 18 to 24 consider themselves either an occasional or regular drinker of alcohol alternatives - up from 31% in 2022.

THE PRODUCT OF JAPANESE PRECISION CRAFTSMANSHIP

Founded in 1876, Sapporo is the oldest beer brand in Japan, but the legend of how the beer began starts with a true pioneer, Seibei Nakagawa. Fuelled by an adventurous spirit, Nakagawa left Japan aged just 17, during an era when doing so was strictly forbidden.

His travels eventually led him to Germany, where he learned the craft of brewing, assimilating the country’s rich history and techniques before bringing them back to his homeland.

At that time, Japan was in a period of modernisation and was starting to establish new industries that would eventually support its future as a global power. One such industry was brewing, and Nakagawa led their attempts to brew beer in the country for the very first time. He carefully positioned his brewery in the northern city of Sapporo so that he could access the large amounts of ice needed for the production process.

And so, Sapporo Premium Beer was born and they’ve been perfecting their beer ever since - taking the very best traditional approaches and elevating them with Japanese vision and artistry.

Sapporo Premium Beer’s iconic silver can embodies this Japanese precision craftsmanship. Created in just one location globally, the can is composed from steel rather than aluminium and is designed with 21 individual ridges to give the required tensile strength. Sapporo has a completely uncompromising approach to brewing beer, sourcing the very best ingredients. Unlike other beers, Sapporo still uses 100% malted barley, and while it’s more expensive than opting for rice and

wheat, it ensures a much fuller body and greater depth of flavour.

It remains absolutely meticulous about its brewing process. For instance, during mashing, the wort is boiled until exactly 6.1% evaporation is achieved to ensure all volatile compounds are removed, giving Sapporo its world-renowned clean and crisp taste.

As with anything of real quality, the brewing of Sapporo Premium Beer takes patience. The beer matures for twice as long as most lagers, which helps to instil more complex aromas into the final product.

SARDINIAN SOUL

In 1912, famous Sardinian winemaker and entrepreneur Amsicora Capra embarked on a mission to craft the perfect beer for the people of his beloved island - Birra Ichnusa was his proud creation. Yet, soon after, Capra had to discontinue production as the world went to war. Then, in 1945, he triumphantly reopened the brewery and Ichnusa thrived, becoming a symbol of the island’s renewed well-being.

Sardinia, also known as ‘Sardegna’, is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, located west of the Italian peninsula. It's said to look similar to a large footprint. As a result, Amsicora Capra named the beer Ichnusa, which originates from the Greek word Ichnos, translating to 'footstep', demonstrating the brand's attachment to the island. Ichnusa has been the essence of Sardinian soul ever since.

The branding of Ichnusa beer incorporates the flag of Sardinia, also known as ‘I Quattro Mori’ (The Four Moors). These four individuals represent the Moorish kings defeated in combat by the Crown of Aragon and the Cross of Saint George.

Ichnusa illustrates the island’s history not only through its branding but also in its smell, colour and taste. The lager is moderately hoppy with mild herbal notes, paired with a crisp and refreshing taste, while the balanced biscuity malts give way to a gentle bitter finish.

The colour is warm and golden, transporting you to golden sands overlooking the crystal-clear waters and leaving you yearning for those warm summer climates.

Amazingly, every bottle consumed throughout the world is still produced in the original brew house in dreamy Assemini, just outside Cagliari in Sardinia. The beer is matured for four weeks before bottling, giving it a more flavourful and distinctive character than its competitors.

BREWED FOR KINGS SINCE 1581

Krušovice is known as ‘the Royal Czech Beer’ for a reason. With 400 years of history and knowhow embedded in the brand, it is one of the oldest Czech beers in existence.

In 1581, King Rudolf II was the mighty leader of Bohemia - located within the Czech lands - and while he was known as the ‘Mad King’, Rudolf was revolutionary and always on the lookout for wonders of the world.

During his reign, he stumbled across a humble brewery in the heart of Czech Bohemia. From his first sip of Krušovice beer, Rudolf was captivated, purchasing the brewery immediately to serve this exceptional creation throughout his Kingdom.

It remains the only beer brand to be owned by the Czech Royal Family and is always served at official events at Prague Castle. To this day, the Czech Republic is known as one of the great beer-loving nations of the world and, in fact, it consumes more beer per capita than any other nation. Conveniently, it is also one of the biggest growers of hops in the world, known for its famous Saaz hops.

At Krušovice Royal Brewery, they have a passion for quality and only use the finest Czech ingredients. They have been sited at the same location in the heart of Saaz hop country in the famous Bohemia region for more than four centuries, with the beer-making knowledge passed down from generation to generation through 28 different brewmasters.

It’s fair to say that Krušovice has a heritage like no other. It is a true Pilsner lager, brewed less than 50 miles from Pilsen, the city that gives its name to the style of beer.

Krušovice is a perfect balance of bitterness complemented by mild notes of caramel, with a hoppy aroma and malty with herbal notes, matching its deep, regal, golden colour.

THE WORLDS SMALLEST INTERNATIONAL CRAFT BREWER

In the southwestern Pacific Ocean, New Zealand is made up of more than 700 islands and is universally known for its stunning vistas.

Its hugely varied topography of sharp mountain peaks, vast green luscious landscapes and nutrient–rich soil set against a backdrop of the bright blue South Pacific skies is undoubtedly behind its ability to grow unique aromatic hops of the highest quality.

Sought after around the world, New Zealand’s hops are largely grown in the centre of the country, near the Cook Strait, which separates the North Island from the South Island.

The sentiment of New Zealand as an experimental, esoteric hop producer is echoed by beer experts across the globe. Similar in flavour profile to their neighbours - Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc - drinkers might pick up a variety of tropical fruit notes alongside citrus and gentle herbal characteristics. The quality and diversity available are making New Zealand hops some of the hottest varieties on the market right now.

In 2008 Kiwi friends Stu and Sam took the leap from homebrewing, bringing their deliciously irreverent craft beer brews into the light, sharing their creation with the world.

BIGMOUTH IPA

Bigmouth IPA is a 4.4%, light and easy–drinking straw gold ale, bursting with juicy sun-kissed South Pacific hops.

An extra pale, unfiltered session ale with bold, tropical and white wine notes from the Nelson-grown New Zealand hops and their Pacific Northwest American cousins. By far the most popular and widely-used variety of Kiwi hop, Nelson Sauvin is named after the town of Nelson, the epicentre of New Zealand’s hop–growing region as well as the Sauvignon Blanc grape, the primary wine variety grown there.

It is aromatic and fruity, imparting a distinctive cool-climate white wine character, with notes of peach, honeydew, gooseberry and apricot. A luscious mouthfeel, from the inclusion of oats, carries the hop flavour across the palate before easing out with a dry and moreish minerally finish.

SUPERFRESH

SuperFresh is a 4.6% clean and thirstquenching Helles lager.

A love letter to Bavaria with a local and modern twist. SuperFresh is brewed in small batches with locally-grown Pilsner and Munich malts, and gently hopped with a modern hop from Germany’s traditional Hallertau region.

Clean, crisp, refreshing and exceedingly drinkable, it pours pale gold with a soft white head that throws a delicate sweet grainy aroma and a gentle floral and spicy hop character. Well balanced, this Munich-style lager is - much like its German cousins - all about sessionability and good times, invoking memories of Munich beer gardens.

Method

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Pour in the spiced rum, Campari, spiced orange ginger ale.

MAKAI MAI TAI

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Slowly pour the dark rum over top so that it creates a floating layer.

A unique blend of pot and columndistilled rums, Makai Spiced Rum delivers flavours of rich, dark molasses elevated by five spices synonymous with the region: Vanilla, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and clove.

15ml of Pistachio Orgeat

22ml of Whisky

Grated Candied Pistachio

Method

Add the 5 Walla Chai Cream Liqueur to a cocktail shaker

Then pour in the pistachio orgeat and the whisky

Shake vigorously to combine

Pour this mixture into an iced glass

Garnish with some grated candied pistachio

20ml of Coffee Liqueur

20ml of Triple Sec

Pour the mixture into the glass over the crushed ice

Garnish with some cardamom powder

Pour the coffee liqueur into a shot glass

Slowly layer the 5 Walla on top of the coffee liqueur and the triple sec on top of the 5 Walla liqueur
