FOURTEENTH ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENT
SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2024
On behalf of our Salt 'n Light Youth Ministry team, I want to thank you for participating in our thirteenth annual Celebrate the Light Fundraising Event. Your attendance tonight is deeply appreciated, and it is a joy to celebrate alongside of you what God is doing at Salt 'n Light!
It's been a privilege to witness lives changed as a result of God moving through Salt 'n Light Youth Ministry. From my college years as an intern on the team, to my role as a local youth pastor bringing students to Salt 'n Light events, to later joining the core staff, I can proudly say that God moves in mighty ways here. Students, leaders, and parents across Pennsylvania and beyond have been impacted by Salt 'n Light's creativity on and off stage, powerful worship, meaningful ministry experiences, and connection building. "Youth reaching youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ" has been our vision for over 25 years, and it is lived out every time the Salt 'n Light Youth Ministry team is on the move.
We hope tonight excites you about the future of Salt 'n Light! As you meet our team and learn more about what's been happening and what is ahead, we know you will feel inspired and encouraged. God has been at work at Salt 'n Light and is preparing the way for more thrilling adventures in youth ministry... and that is something worth celebrating. We're grateful for your prayers, support, and enthusiasm for this ministry. Thank you for joining us!

I first started attending Salt’n Light events with my older brother when I was in fourth grade. However, my first real experience occurred when I was in sixth grade and Nate Hopkins came to our youth group’s fall retreat at Wesley Forest to lead worship. The Saturday morning of the retreat, Nate had led early morning worship around the lake. That was the first time that I really felt the presence of God. Shortly after that, COVID hit and the church we were attending went through a tough transitional period. Me and my family were left searching for a new church home. Even though that was really hard, Salt’N Light remained a constant in my faith journey. Since then, I have attended many Salt’n Light events and I always feel the power of the Holy Spirit refreshing and renewing me. This summer, my brother Owen was a SNL intern and this allowed me to build relationships with other SNL staff.
Taiah counts down the days until the next time she can be with the Salt 'n Light Team! This vibrant, life-giving ministry has helped her learn how to better express her rich love for Jesus in an atmosphere of authentic and deep worship. The affirmation she receives during the trainings and events has helped her tremendously in becoming more bold and comfortable proclaiming Christ in front of others. Being with people of like and precious faith who love sharing their hearts for Jesus in the arts has provided her with a community in which she can thrive and we thank God for Salt 'n light!
Steph Secrist Salt ‘n Light Parent
For the past 8 years, my daughters and I (as a youth group chaperone) have been attending Salt 'n Light events. One of the greatest blessings of participating with my daughters was our ability to continue the conversations at home, which allowed us to grow together in our faith. As my girls attended more events, they formed friendships with many team members, getting to know them personally. The SnL team served as role models for how young adults, ones close to their own age, could live a life for Christ, enjoying life, balancing work, family, and fun. The team members have been incredible Christian examples, arguably even more so than their “old” parents. Both of my daughters are thriving in their walks with Jesus, and I am confident that Salt 'n Light Youth Ministry played a significant role in that.
Rachel Sechrist Intern 2024-Present
I've been going to Salt 'n Light events since I was a little 6th grader. I was immediately pulled into the dramas and the dances and how easy it was to encounter the Lord there. I would look into my calendar, waiting in anticipation for the next event. Going to Impacts and Zeteos and worship nights were the lights in my stressful life for so many years. Now, I have the amazing opportunity to serve on the team, and I can safely say, none of the awe has left for me. I am so blessed to be able to see God working so tangibly in this ministry. Salt 'n Light's mission of "youth reaching youth" gives me the amazing opportunity to connect with people my own age who are constantly seeking to be more like Jesus. There is truly nothing like it, and I know this ministry will continue to impact students for years and years to come.

Salt ’n Light was a game changer for me! I was introduced by a former intern who was looking for his replacement on the worship team. Little did I know it was much more than just a worship team. After COVID, I was finally able to intern during the summer and be able to worship the Lord. I was able to be a part of a team and set up these cool events that we would be able to do art for our God. The creative arts team was amazing and able to deliver beautiful messages to the people we ministered to. The one thing that I’ll never forget is being able to do LOCAL MISSIONS here in Harrisburg. Missions is what we are all called to do as outlined in Matthew 26:16, the Great Commision, and I was able to help the campers spread the Gospel that week.

Salt ‘n Light has been a tremendous blessing for our youth group. Over the years, I have seen our students grow especially in their expression of worship and willingness to openly share with others – and I know that is in large part due to the ministry of Salt ‘n Light events. I greatly appreciate Salt ‘n Light’s approach to creative communication of the love of Jesus through and for students. Their authentic worship, deep discipleship opportunities, and simple willingness to build relationships inspires our students to share that same faith expression with others. And we have fun at Salt ‘n Light events, too! I’m also incredibly grateful for the opportunities that Salt ‘n Light has provided youth leaders to connect with others and experience rest and joy in Jesus. I have grown as a leader because of the relationships that I have built through Salt ‘n Light.
Salt ‘n Light was born out of a movement happening in the Central PA United Methodist church in the mid- 1990’s called “The Bishop’s Flock.” Students across the region had a passion for sharing their faith with peers, and leaders were appointed to help give them a platform to do so. Starting with weekend retreat events, numerous other outreaches quickly developed to help students share the gospel and embolden other youth in their faith.
Currently, Salt ‘n Light provides year-round programming through events, resources, retreats, and more. Utilizing powerful worship, and self-developed drama and dance ministry, Salt ‘n Light’s programming has been enriched and expanded to provide continuous ministry opportunities through all its events.
As the ministry continues to grow, it is Salt ‘n Light’s hope to share the gospel with as many people as possible. This includes plans to develop new community youth events and partnerships, expand online resources for youth ministers, produce more creative arts and film content, and connect with people and churches outside the current Salt ‘n Light network. With exciting new opportunities on the horizon, the leadership team at Salt ‘n Light is committed to being ministry-focused and relational in everything the organization does both now and in the future.
A weekend conference focusing on the creative arts, worship and teaching. Experience an engaging multisession story, designed to integrate the weekend’s theme, worship, and gospel centered message altogether.
An outdoor music and arts festival centered on making memories within youth groups through worship, teaching, and campfire conversation.
A week of empowering the next generation through teaching the arts as a vessel for communicating the gospel.
An evening aimed at bringing local communities together for empowering worship, challenging messages, and the sharing of testimonies through words and art.
Innovative and gospel-centered stories told through feature length films.
An outreach event where students can invite their peers to play in a dodgeball-style tournament, connect over friendly competition, and then come together in the evening for a night of worship.
A chance to partner with local ministries and churches to host events where youth have a safe space to come together and connect about their lives and their faith.

You were the Word at the beginning
One with God the Lord Most High
Your hidden glory in creation Now, revealed in You our Christ
What a beautiful Name it is, what a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ, my King
What a beautiful Name it is, nothing compares to this
What a beautiful Name it is, the Name of Jesus
You didn't want Heaven without us
So Jesus, You brought Heaven down
My sin was great, Your love was greater What could separate us now?
What a wonderful Name it is, what a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ, my King
What a wonderful Name it is, nothing compares to this
What a wonderful Name it is, the Name of Jesus
What a wonderful Name it is, the Name of Jesus
Death could not hold You, the veil tore before You
You silenced the boast of sin and grave
The Heavens are roaring, the praise of Your glory
For You are raised to life again
You have no rival, You have no equal
Now and forever, God, You reign
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the Glory
Yours is the Name above all names
What a powerful Name it is, what a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ, my King
What a powerful Name it is, nothing can stand against
What a powerful Name it is, the Name of Jesus
You have no rival, You have no equal
Now and forever, God, You reign
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the Glory
Yours is the Name above all names
What a powerful Name it is, what a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ, my King
What a powerful Name it is, nothing can stand against
What a powerful Name it is, the Name of Jesus
What a powerful Name it is, the Name of Jesus
What a powerful Name it is, the Name of Jesus
