Open Day

By Johanet Janse van Rensburg

During the first semester NWU hosted an open day on the Potchefstroom campus. This gave prospective students and their families a glimpse into the unique character of our student life. With our stall designed to resemble a castle, the day embodied the spirit of Kasteel, a e van Rensburghome built on tradition, pride, and camaraderie.

Most people began their adventure at our eye-catching stall where enthusiastic ladies waited. Dressed to impress, armed with brochures and photo displays, they engaged potential residents and invited them to visit the residence for the full experience.

At the residence, visitors were warmly welcomed and treated to guided tours. The "guides" showcased our committees, highlighted opportunities for involvement, and shared insights into the traditions that make our residence truly special. Adding a personal touch, residents prepared freshly made "Pannekoek", creating a homely atmosphere that set everyone at ease. Families enjoyed their treats as they strolled through the garden. This was where our residents modeled our stylish residence clothing, adding some je ne sais quoi to their day.

Under a tent, another team operated a lively photo booth. Visitors captured fun memories of the day while enjoying a refreshing beverage. A special highlight was the presence of our very own Miss Kasteel, De'Niel Storm. She greeted guests with elegance, making every visitor feel valued and welcomed.

Inside our recreational hall, our HC presented tables showcasing their portfolios, offering insights into the leadership roles and opportunities that make our residence a place of growth and belonging.

The open day was a true reflection of the heart of Kasteel.

Ons huis

Ons hart

Ons land.

We’re proud of the effort and creativity that went into making the event such a success. We also hope it left a lasting impression on every visitor.

We can’t wait to welcome the next generation of residents into our family!
