This can be daunting sometimes if you are unaware of how things are done here locally. Having local knowledge is must if you want to save your precious time and money. You may require to upgrade your visa or sponsor a spouse visa or may be selected for designation upgrade, and for all these things document attestation is required. Attesting documents from the native country is easy, however, when it comes to attesting documents from a foreign country, this whole procedure can be tiresome. The detailed procedure for Indian document attestation from Dubai is as follows: The process of Indian document attestation starts from delivering all the concerned documents to India since a document can only be attested from the issuing country. Once all the documents reached India, then only this process will start. 1. State Authentication Initially, all the presented documents will be verified by the state authority. The Human Resource Development (HRD), Home Department, and the Chamber of Commerce are the respective departments for validating educational, personal, and commercial documents. Personal documents include marriage certificate, birth certificate etc. Educational documents include Transfer Certificate, Degree Certificate, and Diploma Certificate. Commercial documents include invoice, packaging list, health certificate, etc. 2. MEA Attestation Secondly, after being authenticated, the documents will be presented before the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for attestation. The MEA does not charge any fee for attesting documents and MEA generally returns the documents in half day. 3. UAE Embassy Attestation Thirdly, the documents will be attested by the UAE Embassy in New Delhi. The Embassy checks the documents thoroughly for attestation and later attest them. After UAE Embassy, the documents will be sent back to Dubai for the last step. 4. MOFA Attestation The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) is a government department taking care of immigration and emigration related issues. The MOFA will attest the Indian documents eventually for completing this whole procedure. Also, no document will be legally accepted in the UAE until they bear a stamp or seal from the MOFA.
