"Harvest of the Heart” is a series of works in encaustic monotype that emerged from a deeply felt connection to the bounty offered by nature. It came out of an experience of drawing in nature, with nature. As my hand followed and traced the contour of an apple, I was reminded of my childhood in France. Growing up in the countryside, harvesting from our garden, orchard, forest gleaning, were part of my life. I cherish those memories. Back in the studio, pools of warm encaustic paint on paper brought them to life again in the likeness of fruit forms. They vary in colors, size and evoke abundance, different stages of ripening. They feel full of life. “Harvest of the Heart” is a harvest of experiences in nature, across continents and time, experiences felt in my heart and expressed through color, gesture and molten wax."
