The adv an t a g es The joint offer in an international bid by which IBM + Kanteron Systems were awarded the biggest and most ambitious digital medical imaging outsourcing project in Latin America worth around $12 million (of which Kanteron Systems’ software and services meant $3.9 million).

The system consists of a series of IBM servers (Power7+Linux+DB2), with a storage capacity of 45TB (22.5x2), freely expandable, located at IBM’s data center in Lima.

The open-source software installed, Kanteron PACS, retrieves, stores and manages the digital medical images produced by modalities in EsSalud hospitals that have been configured and connected to the system, which is not limited by connexions, users, etc, so the whole EsSalud network can use it, and make it grow, without restriction.

Kanteron Systems’ engineers (working from Peru and Spain) have integrated the digital medical imaging system with EsSalud’s own GESS Hospital Information System, so those images are now part of their Electronic Medical Record and the National Patient ID System.
