BUILDING AN APPROPRAITE SYNTAX language of architecture is much more than just visual ,it occupies volume,impacts the surroundings and has a third dimension. the plan is a composition of open v/s covered publicspaces and its linkages,the placement of the embassy functions are based on the secrecy/publicness of the function ,it is spread across 4 plinths ,the instances of green spaces is also a indirect derivative of planning of indian forts

site : galle fort,colombo, sri lanka A Public building representing a foreign country portraying the culture and the relationship between the two countries. Hence the programme is an Indian High Commision projecting the Indianness towards the people of Sri Lanka.

LANGUAGE OF PLINTH AND PAVILLIONS REFERING THE INDIAN FORTS

Methodology: the final form of the building is not the result of an extrusion of the plan but reverse, that the plan is the manifestation of an idea of the building.

N ROAD LVL PLAN

LAKE LVL PLAN The existing section of site helped me create a an entrance which hides the secretive functions of the embassy and doesnot look imposive from the street,a concept similar to the typology of indian forts,while the inner section explores the materialistic nature of indian forts where the embassy sits heavy stone base with light glass facade on the upper part. PROGRAMME:1. CHANCERY 2.HIGH COMMISNERS RESIDENCE 3.CULTURAL ANNEXE. STRUCTURE: R.C.C framed structure;brick walls with terracotta clay tiles cladding.
