Clare & Cleland capture Player of the Year...Again! As we move into a new golf season, we want to applaud those players who wrapped up last year’s golf tournaments at the top of the leader board for SDGA (Syracuse District Golf Association and the SWDGA (Syracuse Women’s District Golf Association). SDGA Winners for 2016 included: Men’s Player Of The Year (for the third time), John Clare; Men’s Golfer Of The Year (Service To The Game ), Frank Plata; Senior Men’s Player Of The Year, Michael Naton; Junior Player Of The Year, Jeremy Sisson; and Boy’s Player Of The Year, Shawn Colella. For the ladies SWDGA Bellevue Country Club’s Teresa “Te” Cleland was named Player of the Year for the second straight year while Anne Miller won the Louise Suggs Award. (See other winners on page 3)

Miles Blundell, Director of Golf Operations at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, was named Central New York PGA's Golf Professional of the Year for 2016. Blundell also received the National PGA Merchandiser of the Year Award for Resort Facilities in 2015. Blundell's busy 2016 season included playing host to the national PGA Professional Championship in June and helping to manage the extensive redesign of the Shenendoah Golf Course. Blundell is a PGA Master Professional, one of only five in the CNY PGA Section. He recently joined the Club Managers Association of America and is close to completing his Master's (Read more on page 9)
Vesper Hill’s new island green opens By Perry Noun The Vesper Hills Golf Club in Tully has had a complete makeover from tee to green. I can say that because I played the course five years ago before Mark Drumm bought it and decided to improve everything: tees, fairways, rough, bunkers and greens as well as the clubhouse. It was a big investment in a lakeview scenic course that was begging for an update. In addition to the obvious areas that needed a lot of TLC, Mark decided to create something really special to attract golfers from all over up-state NY.
