COGGINS’ COACHING CAREER

Tasha Dickey joined K-State head coach Deb Patterson’s staff in 2012 as a graduate assistant and in the 2013-14 season she has moved up the ranks to serve as the team’s director of video operations. Dickey, who earned her graduate degree from K-State college student development, finished her playing career by helping KState to a second round appearance in the 2012 NCAA Tournament which was her only appearance in the postseason as a player. The product of Sandy, Utah, registered career-highs in numerous statistical categories including: points (9.9 ppg), rebounds (4.1 rpg), steals (53), three-point field goals made and attempted (43-of-151), free throws made and attempted (42-of58), games played (34), games started (34) and minutes played (901). Dickey played four seasons at Arizona (2007-11) and graduated with a degree in religious studies and a minor in African American studies. While playing in Tucson, Dickey was named a 2008 Pac 10 All-Freshman honorable mention selection. Dickey is the daughter of Charlie and Lisa Dickey. Her father is the offensive line coach for the Kansas State football team.

Kristin Waller is in her 11th year in the K-State athletics department and her fourth as the Academic Counselor and Director of Life Skills. Waller’s primary sports are women’s basketball and volleyball. She also serves as an advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is the director of the Powercat Choice Awards during the last three years. Prior to her move to Student-Athlete Academic Services, Waller was an assistant director of compliance for five years. She also spent a year as an assistant operations director for K-State women’s basketball. In addition to her responsibilities within the Kansas State athletic department, Waller also serves as a color analyst on the KState Sports Network during women’s basketball games. She also is a member of NACWAA. Waller earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing in May of 2002 from Kansas State and received her master’s in journalism/mass communications in December of 2008 from K-State. During her playing career at K-State under coach Patterson, Waller was a four-time Academic All-Big 12 first team recipient. During her time in Manhattan, Waller averaged 9.1 points and 3.3 rebounds for her career. She currently ranks as the school record holder for career three-point field goal percentage (.436), third in school history for career three-point field goals made (266) and ranks 10th in school history for career assists (294). A native of Corning, Kan., she and her husband, Brad, reside in Manhattan with their daughter, Taryn, and are expecting their second child in late October.

Claire Coggins is in her second year with K-State and her first as the team’s director of basketball operations. In 2012-13, Coggins served as K-State’s director of video operations. Prior to returning to Manhattan, Coggins served three seasons as an assistant coach at Oklahoma City University and Connors State. In her only season with Oklahoma City, Coggins aided head coach Rob Edmisson in guiding the Stars to a 35-1 record and the sixth NAIA Division I title in the program’s history. At Connors State, Coggins helped the Cowgirls to a 27-5 record in 2010-11. The Cowgirls captured the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference title and an appearance in the NJCAA Region II championship game. Coggins helped develop three 2011 All-NJCAA Region II performers in Sierra Cornwell, Katie Fleming and Shakayla Love. Coggins also coached Magen Roth, a 2010 NJCAA All-American, as a first-year assistant at Connors State. During her playing career at K-State, she was a two-time AllBig 12 Second Team selection, the most valuable player of the 2006 Postseason WNIT and was a member of the 2004 Big 12 regular season championship team. She finished her career with 1,236 points, the 32nd Wildcat to pass the 1,000-point mark, and ranks 19th on the K-State career points list. She also tallied 213 assists and ranks 23rd in the program’s history. After her time in Manhattan, Coggins spent the 2007 season with the WNBA's Chicago Sky and then played the 2008 season with Panathanaikos in Athens, Greece. Coggins, a native of Lee’s Summit, Mo., earned her degree in electronic journalism from K-State in 2007.
