grew up in the heart of Bucktown, back when it was still full of untamed charm and neighborhood magic. She was the kid who brought home every stray, from dogs and cats to bunnies, birds, chameleon, iguana even the occasional gardener snake or crickets. Her childhood was full of love, family and adventure: ice skating, floor hockey, climbing trees, dancing, blasting music, and biking with friends until the streetlights came on. “Our home was the gathering place, open doors, open heart. I’ve always gravitated toward creativity and movement, and that’s followed me throughout my life,” she says.
After college, she immersed herself in both work and wanderlust. “Travel has played a huge role in shaping my perspective. I’ve explored much of the U.S., and internationally, I’ve visited France, Belgium, Amsterdam, Iceland, the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Mexico and Poland. One of her more unexpected adventures? Logging hours toward a private pilot’s license. "I never finished, but flying remains one of the most exhilarating things I’ve done,” Denise says.
Denise is always up for a challenge, saying “I know how to drive stick shift, earned my motorcycle license at top of my class too. Get to know me and I may have some other surprises in the works. Life’s always been about staying curious, saying yes to experiences and what life has to offer.”
She lives in Clarendon Hills with her family, including two incredible children, and is a full-time real estate broker who genuinely loves helping people find or sell a home. She’s a big foodie who loves trying out a new restaurant or dish, Denise even has a small food blog, which she adds to occasionally, and is known to helping people find and enhance their beauty with hair and makeup services occasionally.
Philanthropy is a huge part of her life. she's been actively involved with the Hinsdale Historical Society, Infant Welfare Society, Wellness House, PTO, and has spent the last decade with the Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club (HJWC). “I’ve had the opportunity to chair several HJWC committees, including Networking, Education, Social, Outreach and Juniorettes. This group of high school age women led a food drive that raised nearly 5,000 pounds of donations while winning the Battle of the Boards. This year, I’m proud to chair the Outreach Committee, where we’ll be collecting holiday gifts for families in need.”

Do you have a mantra? Live, Love, & Laugh. Life’s too short not to find joy in the little moments. always find the good in others and give back. And be kind. On your reading stack? Usually whatever my book club is reading—but I’m drawn to anything motivational, uplifting, or full of insight. I love learning new things and challenging my perspective. What organizations do you support? Hinsdale Historical Society, Infant Welfare Society, local PTOs, Wellness House and of course, the Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club, among others. If it involves giving back, chances are I’m already involved- or on my way there. Any daily rituals that keep you grounded? A good walk in nature does wonders for my mind and spirit. I love admiring the architecture and landscaping around town, there’s beauty everywhere if you look for it. Music you love? I’m a true music lover, everything from country, alternative rock to dance, classical, and anything with a powerful piano, cello, or violin. I have a true passion for Music as it motivates me, moves me, and it’s always playing in the background of my life. I just love a good song that you can really feel within. Favorite fall/winter tradition or activity? I’m a big Halloween fan—I throw a spooky dinner and cocktail party every year. I also love fall festivals, outdoor concerts, and city adventures like the Bucktown Arts Fest or Oktoberfest

PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED BY AMANGANI RESORT IN JACKSON HOLE
Wild. Formidable. Majestic. Wyoming’s Teton Range, home to Jackson Hole and the Amangani resort, is not a mountain range that beckons to all. It’s a place for adventurers, bold and restless.
Perched on a promontory, the Amangani captures sweeping views of the plains and peaks undulating across the Snake River Valley. e resort’s walls of windows and breathtaking multi-story ceiling heights evoke a feeling of wonder and power that mirrors the surrounding environment. Abundant redwood throughout the resort coupled with inspiring views out every window truly brings the outdoors in for guests to enjoy from the luxurious interiors. Quite simply, the Amangani which means “peaceful home” in Sanskrit ushers inside a powerful serenity from the encompassing natural world.
Since 1988, when Amanpuri opened in Phuket, ailand, the Aman Resort has established destinations across the globe in Bhutan, France, Indonesia, and more. Opened in 1998 as the Aman Resort’s first North American property, the Amangani is an all-seasons retreat inviting guests to relax and explore in the foothills of the Tetons.
In winter months, guests are easily transported to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and have access to the Amangani Ski Lounge,
ideally located at the mountain’s base. Heli-skiing is also an option for the extreme skiers in the group. In warmer months, guests can enjoy mild to strenuous hikes, kayaking, white-water rafting, and my personal favorite, fly fishing. 80 miles away lies an entrance to the world’s first national park—Yellowstone, and the hotel is happy to arrange a car for guests to explore the 2.2-million-acre geological wonder. e resort’s signature in-house adventure offering is a phenomenal, guided wildlife safari. A personal guide transports guests in a luxury SUV across the flatlands, wetlands, valley, and forests to enjoy nature up close and personal with sightings of moose, bears, coyotes, elk, deer—even wolves and mountain lions—are possible.
A quick two-and-a-half-hour flight from Chicago brought my husband and me to Jackson Hole for a weekend of adventure and relaxation. Our first stop was downtown Jackson Hole, where Old West-style buildings offer the chicest of mercantile. Nestled into
rolling hills everyway you turn, we stopped first at Persephone, quite possibly one of the cutest coffee shops ever. With a steaming cup of coffee and wrapped in one of the blankets thoughtfully left outside, clients keep the chill mountain air at bay. Meandering the streets found us in front of Piper, a boutique contributing “a laid back, playful sense of style” with an array of brands catering to mountain town-living and beyond. My husband added a stop into Stio, a clothing company headquartered in Jackson Hole and built for the outdoor enthusiast. Around the corner was New West KnifeWorks where we discovered a pocketknife with a wooly mammoth tusk handle—a rare gifting item, indeed.
After a full afternoon exploring Jackson Hole’s charming storefronts, we headed back to the resort to explore the property’s offerings. First up, the Wellness Center. Here the four redwoodpaneled treatment rooms, movement and fitness studios and two steam rooms, offer plenty of rejuvenating options. Opting for
a holistic massage, it was truly one of the most relaxing treatments I have ever experienced. e dimmed lighting and cozy redwood-paneled rooms immediately had you feeling like you were wrapped in a warm, calming blanket.
Heading back to town that evening, we dined at King Sushi—a lively, and inventive sushi spot inside a small log cabin. e legendary Million Dollar Cowboy Bar was our next stop— the perfect place to enjoy live music before heading back to the resort to prep for our Saturday adventure.
Saturday started with delicious omelets, coffee, and juices before we hopped into a BMW X7 the resort kindly provided us. We headed off to the trailhead of the Surprise and Amphitheater Lakes Trail, a ten-mile, 3,000-foot elevation gain trail through spectacular scenery. e challenging exertion had us thrilled to later relax back on the abundant terrace off our room, overlooking the mountains and pausing for a moment before dinner. at evening we dined at the resort at e Grill. Following a savory tomato bisque soup, I tried an elk steak for the first time. It was a delicious decision as the steak was immensely flavorful
and cooked to perfection. Freshly baked warm cookies and house-made ice cream were the sweet finale to a wonderful meal and invigorating day.
Sunday dawned with an entire morning dedicated to relaxing on the property with coffees, followed by a mellow hour-long hike from the resort’s front door, and then an afternoon spent at the spectacular pool admiring the 360-degree views.
Our time at the Amangani felt like time suspended—it was a mix of movement, adventure, and relaxation—all soul-fulfilling and truly a vacation of dreams.

Salt Creek Ballet celebrates 40 years while launching a new home for the next generation of dancers
WORDS
Lauren Kavanaugh can’t remember a time that she didn’t simply adore the beauty of the Salt Creek Ballet School and Company.
“I began dancing with them at the age of 5,” reflects Kavanaugh from her home in Hinsdale. “Salt Creek Ballet was my childhood and a major reason behind who I am today. Ballet training taught me discipline, work ethic, and time management, in addition to giving me lifelong connections and friends.”
Indeed, generations of dancers have essentially created the timeless tradition that is the Salt Creek Ballet –– including Kavanaugh’s very own 7-year old daughter, Claire, who will serve as a Baby Mouse and Angel in this year’s production.
“She is performing in the same Nutcracker production that I performed in as a child,” gushes Kavanaugh, who now serves as President of the Salt Creek Ballet Board of Directors. “It is an organization that impacts multi-generational families like mine.”
Currently celebrating 40 years of artistry and reaching over 10,000 people annually via productions such as e Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and Sleeping Beauty, the Salt Creek Ballet has served as an outlet for some of the area’s most talented dancers, some of which have gone on to share their talents, performing as part of e Royal Ballet to the San Francisco Ballet to the Joff rey Ballet right here in Chicago.
In fact, for many Chicagoland families, attending Salt Creek Ballet performances has become a cherished holiday ritual.
“We hear so many stories about how families have been attending our shows for decades,” explains O.J. Mavon, a lifetime Board Member of 40 years of the leading 501(c)(3) non-profit Chicago-
land ballet school and performance company dedicated to dance education and providing high-level performance opportunities for dancers. “It began with parents bringing their children, which developed into grandparents bringing their grandchildren. It is especially beautiful to see these multi-generational families attend our Nutcracker shows during the holiday season every year.”
However, sustaining an institution such as Salt Creek Ballet comes with its share of challenges. And while the devoted Board of Directors works tirelessly to ensure the organization stays on solid footing in a sometimes chaotic artistic and financial world, and despite the fact that the organization received a rather sizable grant for a new studio in a new location, the financial demands of projects such as this are still many.
“ e building's ownership is changing hands,” states Kavanaugh of Salt Creek Ballet’s current location at 98 East Chicago Avenue in Westmont. “While Salt Creek Ballet looks forward to a brandnew facility in a different location, the grant we were awarded to help fund new studio costs does not cover all of the costs that will be required to build-out its new space. Being an Illinois not-forprofit organization, unlike many of the other dance schools in the area, SCB must fundraise for all construction costs that the grant is not able to cover.”
And sometimes, dreams can be rather expensive.
“It is the intention of the Board of Directors to have the new studio space be an inspiring space for our dancers and families––think light and bright with a flow and layout that supports its various class levels and production rehearsals,” excitedly explains Kavanaugh. “We want it to be a space where our Salt Creek Ballet family wants to spend time ––from the parent lounge to the dining
area to the vast costume room.”
Certainly, the new space will not only house a new generation of dancers but also house a new generation of volunteers. Especially at a time when so many in the world seem to be craving community and connection, the role of the volunteer cannot go understated.
“We rely upon our volunteers to assist with costuming, backstage operations, dressing rooms, green room, boutique and concessions and more,” explains Juhl Patterson, a Hinsdale resident who joined the Board a few years ago. “We welcome all community volunteers with open arms to join us.”
Of course, another way to support Salt Creek Ballet is by making plans to attend their annual gala, Partner With Us: A Nutcracker
Gala, which will take place November 14th at La Grange Country Club. e gala will help fund this year's production of e Nutcracker while also kicking off the Capital Campaign that follows, which shall fund the build-out of the new studio.
“It is our hope that many of those individuals who enjoy the ballet and the idea of letting arts spread into their local community will make a donation, large or small, to bring SCB into the next chapter of its existence,” concludes Kavanaugh.
e Capital Campaign is ongoing. Partner With Us: A Nutcracker Gala is Friday, November 14, 2025, 6:30 p.m. at La Grange Country Club. To donate or purchase tickets, please visit saltcreekballet.org.
Allegrezza Singers raise their voices in support of The Boulevard of Chicago, an organization that provides holistic support and housing services to help the ill and injured.

After surgery or a medical emergency, most people look forward to recuperating at home. e comfort of one’s own bed, plus family and friends to help with medicine and errands often sustains patients through difficult times. For the unhoused, recuperating from a medical procedure is daunting.
at’s where e Boulevard of Chicago comes in to help. irty years ago, the founders witnessed thousands of people with medical injuries entering shelters across Chicago with nowhere else to go. To break the cycle of homelessness, these individuals needed a place to recover and the opportunity to move on to stable housing. e Boulevard was founded in 1994 to answer this critical need.
Today, as a pioneer in medical respite, e Boulevard is one of the original medical respite care facilities in Illinois serving men and women experiencing homelessness with a full range of resources for holistic human healing. Richard Ducatenzeiler, CEO of e Boulevard explains, “Medical respite is a short-term housing intervention for a patient experiencing homelessness. e unhoused don’t have the proper environment to heal. We provide that safe place.”
He goes on to share, “Medical respite works with hospitals and managed care organizations to identify who need services. While with us, each person receives vital recuperative care, plus wraparound services to eventually connect them to stable housing.” rough programs and services, which include the onsite clinic, behavioral health services, and an advocacy team working tirelessly to locate stable housing, the dedicated staff and volunteers help their clients gain the stability they need to restore their health and rebuild their lives. Boulevard residents receive access to programs and medical services they could not obtain at a shelter. To date, more than 12,000 people have done so.
It is a wonderfully successful organization, yet as with all nonprofits, continued success depends on reaching new donors and rallying fresh supporters.
Two longtime members of the Board of Directors are connecting people in the Hinsdale area to e Boulevard through an afternoon of uplifting songs. Nancy is one of the founders of e Boulevard. She served on the original steering committee and the
first Board of Directors; Chairing the Board of Directors from 1998-2002 and completing her Board term in 2004.
Christy is the former Managing Director, Control Officer Executive of Commercial Bank Oversight & Control for JPMorgan Chase in Chicago. She has an active record of Community Service, working as a Mentor for e Fellowship Initiative, and as an Executive Sponsor of WIN, Women's Interactive Network in Chicago.
ese powerhouse philanthropists are friends and fans of Stephen Edwards, the Co-Founder, Artistic and Operational Director of Allegrezza Singers.
e word Allegrezza, which means “joyfulness” in Italian, is the perfect name for this spirit-lifting group of talented musicians.
Since its founding, Allegrezza Singers has lived a mission of joy, community, and giving back. Each concert benefits a charity partner.
On Sunday, October 26, Allegrezza Singers will raise their voices for e Boulevard of Chicago in a concert titled “Ease on Down the Road.” Stephen shares, “ is captivating concert will celebrate the diverse experiences, connections, and stories that shape life's journey. We hope the music will move you, and we’re always honored to help make a difference.”
“We look forward to seeing longtime supporters of e Boulevard, people who love beautiful music, and anyone who is interested in helping people on the road to health and home. All are welcome,” Christy says.
“As winter approaches, everyone’s support is needed and appreciated. It’s our busiest season and as we prepare to welcome clients as they heal from their medical emergencies, we appreciate Christy and Nancy connecting us with this vibrant community in such an uplifting way,” Richard says, adding, “Where we are, on the West Side of Chicago, can feel so close but also far away. I’m grateful for the chance to introduce our work to new people and to hear some great music.”
Ease on Down the Road, a bene t concert for e Boulevard of Chicago featuring Allegrezza Singers is Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 4 – 6 p.m., 137 South Gar eld Avenue, Hinsdale, Purchase tickets or donate at blvd.org/event/bene t-concert

Windows do more than frame the view.
ey define curb appeal, protect against Chicago’s harsh climate, and play a central role in energy efficiency. Replacing outdated or leaky windows can improve a home’s efficiency by up to 30 percent, cutting drafts and preventing mold. at’s where Chicago Window Guys (CWG) comes in.
Founded by Russell Armstrong, the company operates its own manufacturing plant in Chicago and brings decades of experience to every project. Having installed thousands of windows across the city and suburbs, Armstrong and his team know how to match the right product to each home’s needs.
“We offer the best product, with the best installation at the best price — guaranteed,” Armstrong says. “Because we manufacture here, we control costs and timelines, ensuring jobs are done on schedule and at a much lower cost than our competition, without sacrificing quality.”
CWG backs those promises with a price-match guaran-
tee and a lifetime warranty on all parts and labor, including glass breakage — rare in this industry. Armstrong adds: “We don’t play the ‘Buy one, get one free’ sales game. Our prices are straightforward and consistently lower for a better product and installation.”
CWG windows feature Argon/Krypton gas fills, multiple low-E coatings, foam-filled frames, and non-metal spacers to prevent seal failure. Every window is measured and made to order — from bow and bay to garden and projection styles. Installations are handled exclusively by CWG crews, never subcontractors.
Armstrong also makes every sales call himself, eliminating long presentations, commissions, and high-pressure tactics. “Over the years, we’ve built our reputation on happy customers who refer friends and family,” he says.

first crossed paths, they had no idea that their shared love for interior design would soon become the foundation of something far bigger than friendship. But sometimes, creative chemistry is undeniable.
Flaherty, immersed in architecture and trade at the Merchandise Mart, and Milburn, who was flipping homes at the time, turned their fast friendship into a creative partnership, launching North and Madison, an interior design firm dedicated to creating comfortable, joyful living spaces.
“Once we started, it has been a whirlwind since, and now we can gladly say we have renovated hundreds of homes around the Chicago area and across the country,” says Milburn. “We both very much agree that starting the business was one of the best decisions we have ever made.”
North and Madison was named after two major roads in Oak Park and River Forest, where both women were living when they launched their business in 2018. “Jess has since moved to Barrington Hills,” says Flaherty, “so we always joke that we need to create an elaborate story of what the name means.”
Primary Bath
Jokes aside, the name is perfectly fitting as it’s rooted in place, yet open to interpretation. And like their name, their partnership is about balance and shared creativity. “One of the biggest joys in life is getting to work with your best friend,” says Milburn. “We get to
go through all of life’s ups and downs together, while simultaneously building our dream.”
Bringing their creative energies together, Flaherty focuses on big-picture thinking—architecture and the construction side of design—while Milburn hones in on the details, overall visual direction, and creative styling. Together, they craft homes that feel layered, thoughtful, and, most importantly, alive. eir design aesthetic is anything but cookie-cutter. “We love to push our clients slightly outside of their comfort zone,” explains Milburn. “We thrive on bold color, playful, rich textures, and
patterns. No two projects are ever the same, and you’ll never see us repeat a design.”
“ is isn’t a trend for us,” says Flaherty. “It has been part of our philosophy from the very start.” e heart of their work is storytelling through space. Each project begins with listening. “Our inspiration comes from our clients, the architecture of the building, and the surrounding environment,” says Flaherty. “We take those elements and stretch them beyond the expected, encouraging clients to step outside their usual pathways.”
And while their design ethos is playful, their purpose remains sincere. “Our ultimate goal is always to create a home that feels both comfortable and joyful,” says Milburn.
It’s that philosophy that has earned them a devoted clientele and a cult following. “We really do embrace stepping out of people’s predictable choices and have been told countless times, the ‘risks’ our clients took that made them feel scared are always their favorite parts of their home,” says Milburn. “Pattern and color are second nature to

us. Your home should be yours—distinct, personal, yet timeless.”
Now with Milburn residing in Barrington Hills, the area has become a fresh palette of inspiration. “I have flipped many homes and have moved many times as I just keep getting the itch,” says Milburn. “For this home, I wanted to pick a place that would be hard to leave. Enter Barrington Hills, picturesque and feels right out of a postcard.”
where much of their team is still based, they’ve brought North and Madison’s bold, joyful style to homes all over the North Shore, to the city, and western suburbs, and now to Barrington. eir reach even extends to second homes across the country, blending local charm with a nationwide footprint.
Designing in the area has brought in a fresh wave of creative energy and opportunities for the North and Madison team, leading to some seriously dreamy projects. e dynamic duo’s favorite local projects were a labor of love.
“We took over two years to renovate a 100-year-old farmhouse off of Oak Knoll,” says Flaherty. “We wanted to keep its charm, but also with the North and Madison flare, so we incorporated a lot of the history, but brought it up to modern times.”
While their roots are in the Oak Park and River Forest area,
And what’s next on the punch list? A leap into bold product design. “North and Madison just recently launched our introductory product line,” announces Milburn. “We created a line of semicustom bathroom vanities and a line of coordinating wallpapers that are out now. Our goal is to offer products that all coordinate together, so a consumer can easily create their own designer bathroom.”
From flipping houses to designing dream homes, Flaherty and Milburn prove that when creativity meets drive, bold ideas come to life, filling every space with color, joy, and unforgettable style.

ALLYSON RUSSO launched Russo Law O ffices LLC more than a decade ago to revolutionize estate planning and probate with top-tier, personalized representation. She earned a B.A. from Boston College, a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, and an LLM from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law—impressive credentials that set her up for success. With more than 25 years of experience practicing law at elite firms in Boston and Chicago and a boutique estate planning firm, Russo is regarded as a trusted expert. Today, she creates meticulous estate plans, wills, and trusts for clients ranging from individuals to businesses.
What’s a trend you’re embracing—or challenging? A trend I’m embracing is the use of AI to streamline research, drafting, and communication—making my legal practice more efficient and responsive. At the same time, I’m challenging the idea that technology can replace the trust, empathy, and personal connection my clients value most. I believe the future of law combines smart tools with genuine human relationships.
How do you maintain balance between your professional and personal life? I intentionally give myself permission to turn off the business-owner brain, even when it feels unnatural. I’ve learned to meet myself where I am in life—recognizing that balance looks di fferent now than it did when my kids were younger. As they’ve become more independent, it’s created more space for me to recharge and be fully present in both work and home life.
How do you de ne con dence—and how have you built it? I define confidence as the quiet assurance that comes from years of experience, hard work, and continuous learning. It means trusting in my knowledge while also having the humility to recognize when I don’t know something—and the determination to find the right answer. I’ve built my confidence over time by showing up, solving problems, and never being afraid to ask the next question.
What’s one piece of advice you wish you’d received earlier in your career? I wish someone had told me earlier that it’s OK to be imperfect—as long as you’re always striving to grow, improve, and do right by your clients. Building a fulfilling career as a lawyer and business owner isn’t just about technical skill; it’s about investing in relationships, staying curious, and showing up consistently. Over time, I’ve learned that being well-rounded with an interesting life is just as important as being accomplished.

How do you give back to your community or industry? Being an avid lover of animals has committed me to being involved with animal rescue throughout my life. I support several organizations and strive to educate people about how many great pets need homes. We also foster for Hinsdale Humane Society.
How do you maintain balance between your professional and personal life? Separating work and play—and always making time for play! Having hobbies outside of my profession brings me balance. My friendships with other strong women also give me perspective on being a working mom and business owner.
How do you de ne con dence—and how have you built it? Trusting your instincts and not being afraid to change things. I’m a quick decision maker with good intuition and have learned not to waste time dwelling on the past.

I served as Ways and Means Chair at the Hinsdale Community Preschool and as Fundraising Chair at Madison School and Hinsdale Middle School. What’s one piece of advice you wish you’d received earlier in your career? Take the risk. Especially when you are early in your career, do the thing that may be hard to replicate again. Being comfortable is nice, but taking the risk and pushing outside of your comfort is where the magic happens.
I hope my kids say I was a good mom who provided love, opportunity and support to them as they chase their own dreams and that I am remembered as a good wife, partner, and friend. Community, family, and friendships give us the space, confidence, and energy to take risks in business.

R azny Jewelers has been the leading family-owned and operated source for loose diamonds, bespoke jewelry, and Swiss timepieces in the greater Chicago area for more than 70 years. Today, INGRID RAZNY and CHRISTINE RAZNY-PORTER —along with Ingrid’s husband, Stan, and their sons, Michael and Eric—continue that proud family legacy.
What excites you most about the future of your jewelry industry? Razny is expanding its collections to accommodate every budget, while offering customization options that allow each piece to reflect the wearer’s personality and style. Jewelry marks life’s milestones, from engagements to anniversaries, as well as the moments in between, becoming an integral part of one’s story. Many of these pieces are passed on as heirlooms, connecting generations through beauty and history.
What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table? Why natural diamonds matter and clearing up misconceptions about lab-grown diamonds. Beyond their brilliance, natural diamonds carry a story of rarity, exclusivity, and responsible sourcing. For example, we work directly with trusted partners in Africa—utilizing alluvial mining, a sustainable method that supports local communities and minimizes heavy excavation. Lab-grown production relies on non-renewable energy sources, and can damage the environment. Every Razny diamond is hand-selected for its proportions and brilliance, not just its carat weight, ensuring lasting beauty and value.
What’s a trend you’re embracing—or challenging? We’re redefining luxury service by giving our clients more than they expect, exceeding their expectations and creating moments that surprise and delight. We’re focused on thoughtful details, personalized touches, and unexpected gestures. We view every interaction as an opportunity to transform an ordinary visit into an extraordinary one, deepening relationships and continually raising the standard of service at Razny Jewelers.

I want to normalize conversations about financial empowerment, emotional safety, and strategic planning during a time that feels anything but stable. at means having honest conversations about the importance of legal and financial literacy, how to protect your future during a major life shift, and how to move forward with clarity and strength. R. NADINE ELISE BOLGER saw patients in a traditional OB/GYN practice for 18 years before she decided to branch out into something new—and necessary. “While I have cherished my time in obstetrics, as both my patients and I are aging, I am realizing the overwhelming complexity of optimizing women’s health in midlife and beyond,” explains Dr. Bolger, who holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University and an M.D. from University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Medicine. “I was increasingly frustrated with the limited time I was able to spend with my patients. Issues become more complex for women as we age, and a 15 or even 30-minute visit was never enough time to adequately counsel patients on their treatment options.” In 2024, Dr. Bolger opened Nouvelle Women’s Health—a new option for women who seek a trusting relationship with and better access to their doctor. Women now have a safe and informative sanctuary where they can obtain personalized and focused care. Dr. Bolger and her husband live in Clarendon Hills with their 15-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter.
What excites you most about the future of your industry? I am so happy that women are beginning to embrace the notion of hormone therapy again, as there are many benefits. What’s one leadership lesson you’ve learned the hard way? I have been very fortunate to have had a healthy life. I wasn’t really ever a “patient” until my husband and I struggled with infertility. at process, and the complications we endured, taught me so much about being a better provider to my own patients. ough I’m fortunate to have maintained fairly good health since, the situations in which I’ve unexpectedly been a patient, have consistently given me great insight into caring for others in similar situations.

DR. JOYCE ASHAMALLA is proud of how much Hinsdale Animal Hospital has grown in the 17 years she’s been at the helm. Her transformation of the long-standing veterinary practice includes moving it to a new state-of-the-art facility that offers many amenities— including doggie day care, boarding, and grooming services. A graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana, Dr. Ashamalla’s dedication and vision continue to elevate the standard of pet care.
What excites you most about the future of your industry? ere is so much to be excited about in the future of veterinary medicine! ere are so many innovative options of treatments out there that use new technology to help a myriad of conditions. ey are coming up with ways to use immunotherapy to treat so many common issues such as allergies and arthritis. And, on a bigger scale, topics such as cancer treatments, gut microbiome, weight loss, anxiety management, and more have gained so much traction that they are applying our advances to the human side of medicine.
What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table? Preventive health. I really want to focus on the benefits of keeping your pet at a healthy weight. Pet obesity is a major contributor to a lot of the problems we’re having to treat every day. Often, pet owners simply don’t even realize that their pet is at an unhealthy weight. I encourage evaluating your pet’s body condition score to get ahead of long-term conditions. Other preventive care measures include making sure your pets are on both heartworm and flea/tick prevention. ese are such easy things to do and can prevent life threatening illnesses. And we’ve come far in prevention as well. We even have options that can prevent parasites for a whole year without having to give monthly chews. No need to “remember” anything! ey are always innovating and trying to make owner’s lives easier while providing safe, effective care for pets.
What do you do to recharge? Recharging is very important! Especially in an industry that su ffers from compassion fatigue. Personally, traveling is my favorite way to unwind. Whether it’s a family vacation with our three kids, a trip with my husband, a family/friends reunion, or a ladies outing—this is what makes my heart happy.

KELLY KIRCHHEIMER is a leading luxury real estate advisor in Chicago’s Western Suburbs, representing REAL Brokerage as its first Illinois luxury agent. With an MBA and more than a decade of real estate experience—including a successful career in corporate sales leadership—Kirchheimer brings strategy, market expertise, and an unmatched commitment to her clients. Known for her discretion, responsiveness, and deep local knowledge, she has become the trusted resource for families navigating life’s biggest transitions, from relocation to right-sizing to moving to be near family.
What excites you most about the future of your industry? I’m really excited about the wave we’re on with generative AI and the way technology can actually elevate human connection. Residential real estate is highly personal and very high touch when we are doing it right. By letting technology streamline the background tasks, we’re freed up to be more present with our clients to deliver even better service and focus on the people which is what really matters.
What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table? While I have all kinds of passions, I really do love talking about the real estate market and especially how di fferent the Western Suburbs can look compared to the national headlines. Even from nearby, zip code to zip code, we see micro-trends that shift quickly and can look very di fferent just a few blocks away. Right now, our hyperlocal market shows tremendous resilience for home sellers which is a nice place to be.
How do you de ne con dence—and how have you built it? Confidence comes for me when I am prepared and consistent. I find that staying curious and asking questions, whether it’s about a client’s specific needs or understanding market trends, helps me go deeper with whatever we’re working on. I don’t think it is ever about having the “right” answer but knowing that I can find an answer, adapt, and guide others through uncertainty.
What legacy do you hope to leave behind? For me, it’s more about the small choices ... showing up when people need you, doing what’s right even when it is harder, and really caring about the people around you. If I have any legacy, I hope it’s that I lived with integrity and that the people closest to me, my friends, family, and clients, felt supported and understood. And I hope they say I was a good mom.

What excites you most about the future of your industry? e increased focus on craftsmanship and longevity. ere's a shift happening where clients are embracing more intentional design—spaces that are not only beautiful but built to last and reflect personal stories.
What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table? ere’s still a lot of mystique around what goes on behind the scenes with the business of design, and I think sharing insights—especially with upand-coming designers—can help elevate the entire industry.
How do you give back to your community or industry? I recently contributed to the Lake Forest Showhouse benefiting the Infant Welfare Society. I’m always honored to use my work in ways that give back to the broader community.
What’s a trend you’re embracing—or challenging? I’m embracing the power of restraint—neutral palettes, thoughtful materials, and subtle details that create quiet luxury and timeless elegance.
How do you de ne con dence—and how have you built it? Confidence, to me, is trusting your instincts even when the path isn’t certain. I’ve built it over time by embracing challenges, learning from mistakes, and leaning into opportunities that push me outside my comfort zone. It’s a muscle that grows stronger the more you use it.
What legacy do you hope to leave behind? I hope to be remembered for designing spaces that felt like home in the truest sense—and for building a business with heart, vision, and authenticity.

LYSSA D. QUINLAN is CEO of Freeman's | Hindman, overseeing strategy and day-to-day operations, as well as the firm’s ongoing expansion in locations, services, and expertise. She has 25 years of diversified business experience, with leadership experience in private banking and wealth management in addition to fine art auction and appraisal services. Since returning to Hindman in 2019 as Chief Business Development O fficer, Quinlan has renewed her commitment to auctioneering—a skill she first learned from her mentor Leslie Hindman. As a sought-after charity auctioneer, she has helped to raise funds for e Salvation Army and Rush University Woman’s Board, among many others. She is an active member of Chief, the professional network for women executive leaders, as well as YPO, and supports arts and cultural organizations in her hometown of Chicago, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Luminarts Cultural Foundation, and the Women’s Board of Ravinia.
What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table? I’m passionate about conversations at the intersection of art and finance. Whether it’s estate planning, charitable giving, or using art as collateral, I enjoy helping clients navigate where financial goals and cultural assets meet.
What’s a trend you’re embracing—or challenging? I’m mindful of the growing trend toward commoditizing communication. While texts and emails are convenient, a phone call or face-to-face meeting creates a deeper connection and often gets things done more quickly. To me, those real conversations build the trust and understanding that matter most.
What excites you most about the future of your industry? While fine art will always be in demand, I’m excited by the growing interest in categories like antiquities, luxury handbags, signed jewelry, and rare books and manuscripts. is broader curiosity is driving strong results—despite a softer art market overall, Freeman’s | Hindman saw nearly 9 percent growth in the first half of 2025. It’s an exciting moment to see how collecting is evolving.
How do you give back to your community or industry? One of the most meaningful ways I give back is through charity auctioneering. Many nonprofits rely on a single annual event to raise a significant portion of their funding, so the stakes are high. It’s exhilarating for me to step on stage and help drive that support.

What excites you most about the future of your industry? One thing that is for certain is change and the real estate industry is no exception to this fact. We speak to clients that would like to move in less than a month as well as clients that hope to move next summer. Strategy development for every scenario is our goal.
What’s one piece of advice you wish you’d received earlier in your career? I was always great at math as I grew up, so I studied finance in college and had corporate finance roles after university. However, deep down I really loved working with people. It took me several years to figure out that I needed a career that would connect me with people and help make a meaningful di fference in their life. When I changed careers and went into real estate it was scary, but just what I needed. e special part of my business now is the deep relationships I make with my clients through the home purchase or sale process. Bottom line - Don’t be afraid of change if it might put you just where you need to be.

What excites you most about the future of your industry? e merging of intuition and innovation. I’m inspired by the integration of emerging technologies to elevate our creative process. At the same time, there’s a return to craftsmanship and to soul, such as hand-forged hardware. at duality, the future meeting the handmade, is where I feel the most creatively alive. is is a time to be authentic, bold, and multi-faceted.
How do you give back to your community or industry? I’m grateful to my mentors who shaped my path, and I make it a priority to mentor emerging talent within my firm and the wider design community. is year, I’m honored to speak on panels at Chicago Build Expo, High Point Furniture Market in North Carolina, and universities across the country from e School of the Art Institute of Chicago to Hawaii—platforms where we can share insights and stories with the next generation of creators.

DR. CARA VANWORMER-HARTMAN (DC, DABCI, DABCN, IFMCP) is a functional medicine and chiropractic physician who brings more than 17 years of experience to the Hinsdale community. She is on a mission to fill what’s missing in medicine. “Patients aren’t getting the answers they need with conventional medicine and I will always be here as a sounding board to bring the functional world of root cause answers to them,” says Dr. VanWormer-Hartman, who graduated magna cum laude from the National University of Health Sciences with a doctorate in chiropractic medicine. At erapeutic Health, she succeeds in addressing the physical, metabolic, and emotional components of health down to the cellular level. is Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner has a reputation and pedigree that cannot be surpassed.
What’s a trend you’re embracing—or challenging? e GLPs are trending heavily right now. In the functional space, if GLPs are entertained, it is as a bridge to healing, in conjunction with medical nutrition and prioritizing ways of eating. We determine the foods that are clinically relevant to the patient using their blood work as a guide. My role is providing clarity and facts to patients obtaining these peptides with no clinical guidance; I find it important to restore one’s knowledge of how GLPs work and empower them to begin proper eating strategies, restoring hormonal imbalance, and addressing their cortisol trends. Cortisol is the No. 1 hormone associated with weight gain or the inability to lose. We also use peptides to help with skin tone, muscle gain, and use biometric scans to monitor and confirm their weight loss is coming from fat and not muscle. Patients trust our knowledge and doing things the right way—this is most important to me.
What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table? All things perimenopause and menopause. My specialty. We also have a specialty department serving men’s health as well.
How do you give back to your community or industry? I am a member of the Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club and love supporting local charities like the Clarendon Hills Infant Welfare. I love giving back, supporting, and being an active part of our community.

Her Signature Homes team at Compass has even adopted a dynamic, business-savvy approach with its agents. I am also Co-Chairing the Clarendon Hills WalkerFest, the annual fundraiser for Walker Elementary School, and am helping organize, run, and emcee this year’s National Association of Realtors 30 Under 30 Mastermind in Chicago.
How do you maintain balance between your professional and personal life? Knowing when to put my phone down and be present with my family has been something I’ve had to learn to do, but the outcome is so rewarding. It is something I have made a priority. I make sure to put up some boundaries between work and personal life, which I have found make me a better mother, wife, and Realtor.
How do you de ne con dence—and how have you built it? Confidence comes from within and when a person has it, the world sees it. e longer I am in my career, the more confident I become. But I am always researching and learning, as you can never be too educated in any topic.
What’s one piece of advice you wish you’d received earlier in your career? Don’t spend time focusing on the negative; keep your chin up and surround yourself with people who lift you up.
What legacy do you hope to leave behind? I just want my kids to be proud of me. At the end of the day, despite all the awards and accolades, that is truly the most important thing.

ANET BOYLE, Founder and Principal of Family Law Solutions, says that after decades of representing clients through everything from domestic violence to million-dollar custody fights, she realizes that for most people, divorce is just a blip on the radar of their lives. In the end, her goal is to help them move on to their next chapter. A former Assistant Cook County Public Defender, she’s built a specialty in family law with a special expertise in tax issues, harnessing her graduate degree in taxation during cases that involve complex asset division. rough it all, she’s with each of her clients during pivotal moments in their lives, strategically guiding them with empathy.
How do you de ne con dence? Confidence is achieved the day you wake up and finally realize that yes, I do belong in this profession as a leader and as a member of this community. When you no longer fear the reaction others may have to your performance or your statements or your actions, you know viscerally that you belong.
What is one leadership lesson you've learned? To truly listen to others and not always be determined to have things my way. Listen not only to words but to the intent. Never presume that what you want is the same as what others want. Never presume your dream is the same as the people you are working with—professionally or in any organization you may be a part of.
What do you do to give back to your community? I was active in professional and community organizations throughout my career, participating on many committees. What piece of advice do you wish you received earlier in your career? at there is no such thing as rejection. It is a self-imposed emotion. If someone says “no” to what you want, nothing in your life changes. You are where you were before you asked. So don’t be afraid to ask. Once I began to ask for what I wanted, I was amazed at how often people said “yes.” e fear of asking was misplaced.

With a distinguished background as a former corporate attorney and a passion for real estate, MELISSA LIVELY brings a unique blend of legal acumen and marketing expertise to the Hinsdale real estate market. A Certified Expert Listing Agent with @properties Christie’s Internation Real Estate’s Hinsdale office, she provides a thorough and insightful approach to real estate transactions, ensuring each detail is managed with precision and care. With the collaboration of her team of experts, Lively is committed to delivering exceptional end-to-end service experiences and achieving optimal outcomes for her clients.
What excites you most about the future of your industry? Listing agents across the U.S. are increasingly pushing back against one-size-fits-all marketing of consumer-facing real estate platforms. In today’s evolving market, customized marketing is essential. As inventory rises and buyer behavior shifts, one-size-fits-all strategies just don’t cut it—especially when homes are sitting longer on the market. What appeals to a luxury buyer in Hinsdale is totally di fferent from what attracts a first-time buyer in the city. Marketing must reflect location, price point, lifestyle, and buyer expectations. Every seller has a unique need, and the market is constantly changing. As a listing agent, I am an advocate for my client and will market their home to maximize their return on investment, not to drive up clicks on a real estate website.
What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table? Zillow doesn’t know the improvements you have made to your home. Redfin doesn’t have the opportunity to walk into your home and feel the vibe. I do. Your home isn’t just square footage. It has a story. Let’s tell it in a way that makes buyers fall in love.
What’s a trend you’re embracing—or challenging? One of the most interesting dynamics of the 2025 real estate market is the luxury market continues to outperform and set new records, while the non-luxury market has quickly become a buyer’s market. We will continue to see this trend in the spring of 2026 where luxury markets will continue to have low inventory and upward pressure on pricing, while the non-luxury market pricing will continue to decrease with increasing inventory.

Since 1953, Hinsdale Humane Society (HHS) facilities have provided a safe haven for pets to stay while they wait to be adopted into their forever homes. Continuing that vision is what brings HHS President JODIE ARQUILLA together with new Chair of the HHS Board of Directors and owner of Lane Veterinary DR. SARAH BAKER (DVM, MPH). “From a very young age, my personal passion has been my love of animals,” says Arquilla, who attended Hinsdale South High School and studied Communications at Western Illinois University. “My childhood home always had one or more family dogs, and instead of Show-Biz Pizza or the playground, my favorite outing with my dad was to see the newly hatched baby swans at the pond in his office complex.” Dr. Baker shares that passion for animals and loves getting to know people and their pets— bringing together both interests in her career as a veterinarian. “More recently I’ve also taken a larger role at the Hinsdale Humane Society,” explains Dr. Baker, who holds a B.S. in zoology, and an MPH and DVM from e Ohio State University. Her practice, Lane Veterinary, opened two years ago and already added a second location. “It’s wonderful to see the di fference they make for animals in our community.” For Arquilla, taking the helm at HHS was a dream come true. “I feel immensely lucky, because not many people get the chance to truly do what they love,” she says.
What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table?
Arquilla: Shelter pets aren’t broken! You can find any breed of dog and cat—purebred or mixed—that need a second chance. At Hinsdale Humane Society, we offer training in behavior and manners for our dogs, extensive enrichment for our cats, and we go the extra mile to ensure they’re medically healthy. We also offer postadoption support to ensure a pet’s smooth transition to their new home.
What excites you most about the future of your industry?
Dr. Baker: I am hopeful about small businesses taking back a part of our market in the future. In recent years there were many sales to private equity in the veterinary community. I would love to see the pendulum swing back into the direction of small businesses. It means a lot to me as a woman business owner to be so supported by the Hinsdale community, and I hope to continue to grow in the Western Suburbs.

As a result, the firm is now No. 1 Mega Team in Illinois, southwest Florida, and Park City, Utah.
What excites you most about the future of your industry?
Walz: I’m most excited about AI’s potential to transform the way we work. I have started to dabble with it and can already see how it will allow us to spend more time doing what we do best—building relationships and making meaningful connections with clients. at’s where the real impact will happen, and where our expertise will truly shine.
What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table?
McKenna: I’m passionate about helping younger generations reframe how they view their home—not just as a place to live, but as an asset class and part of a wealth-building strategy. Real estate is unique among investments as it offers a wide range of exit strategies, from selling and refinancing to renting or leveraging equity. And unlike stocks or bonds, you can actually enjoy it while you own it. It’s both a lifestyle and a long-term wealth-building tool. I love sparking conversations that help people see its full potential.
How do you de ne con dence—and how have you built it?
Mckenna: Confidence is the front-facing display of behind-the-scenes preparation. It’s about taking an honest look at yourself, recognizing areas for growth, and consistently working to improve. It also means having the humility to admit when you’re wrong and the courage to make changes. Confidence is built through experience and after 22 years and more than $6 billion in sales, I’m deeply confident in the services and advice the DMG offers. at confidence comes not only from helping clients, but also from buying and selling my own properties over the years. It’s a foundation built on practice, perspective, and a genuine passion for real estate.

DEB LUND is the founder and Principal Designer of Deborah Lund Interiors, a Chicago-based design studio recognized for refined, sophisticated interiors. With more than 30 years of experience, Lund is known for creating timeless, bespoke spaces that reflect her clients’ lifestyles with elegance and purpose. Formally trained at the Harrington College of Design, she is a member of ASID and the Architectural Digest PRO Directory, a ffi rming her standing in the design industry. Her ability to balance classical influences with modern sensibilities—all while honoring budget and vision—has earned her a loyal clientele and widespread respect. What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table? I’m passionate about the conversations that explore what makes a truly great design. For me, successful design balances historical knowledge, artistic expression, and refined execution. My work is informed by continuous learning, global travel, and a deep appreciation for art. Design should be beautiful, artful, and comfortable. Color is central. I use modified shades in unexpected ways to evoke emotion and personality. True taste in design goes beyond preference; it requires a trained eye, thoughtful discernment, and respect for craftsmanship.
What’s a trend you’re embracing or challenging? While I appreciate trends, I challenge those that become overly saturated—like scallops. When overused, they lose their elegance. I prefer unexpected impact—a neon pink glass dining table in Miami or a sculptural work of art that’s crafted from carved stone as a pu ffer jacket and hung in an Aspen residence. Great design is about the daring interplay of material, form, and imagination.
What legacy do you hope to leave behind? I hope my legacy lives in the homes I design—chic, timeless, and inimitable. I create dream spaces that blend beauty, comfort, and individuality. My goal is always to design a home that is the best version of how my clients aspire to live. A successful home sits at the intersection of a client’s vision and my ability to translate it into something truly bespoke, functional, and gorgeous. at is the enduring power of design.

What’s one leadership lesson you’ve learned the hard way? Trying to do everything yourself is not leadership. In the early stages, it felt easier to just take things on rather than explain or delegate. But over time, I realized that growth, both mine and the team’s, depends on trust. Learning to let go, to give people space to step up and bring their strengths, has made everything stronger. True leadership is not about control. It is about building a culture where people feel empowered and responsible. at shift changed everything for me.

Most rewarding part of what you do? I get to make people’s dreams come true. I don’t take that task lightly. I am grateful people trust me with this process.
How should women support other women? It feels counterproductive to not support others. I learned early on that if I didn’t train someone to take my current position, I would never move up or grow myself. It may be that I train people away from me sometimes, but I know that the women I have trained have all gone on to be successful in their own careers. at is more satisfying to me than anything else.
How do you inspire others? As the quote I chose states, I have been through fire in my life—fire that most people don’t survive. However, instead of being a victim, I choose to show up every day as an example of how not to let the things that have happened define me. If I inspire just one person by being like this, then I’ve done my job.
Best piece of advice for anyone starting out? Don’t ever stop. Ever.

Raised in Hinsdale by a real estate developer father, LISA READ grew up learning deal structures and cash flow models on Excel the way other kids were read bedtime stories or taught to ride a bike. She spent years absorbing the nuances of real estate finance, not realizing that one day, real estate would find her. Her path led from Hinsdale Central to Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, then to an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. She worked in investment banking and financial markets before taking on the most demanding, and meaningful, job of all—raising three boys. About a decade into motherhood, Read took a side step and got her real estate license, and something clicked. Real estate was not only familiar; it was her calling. She finds it captivating, complex, and creative, relationship-driven and deeply human. It requires problem-solving, intuition, strategic thinking, and heart. It’s about bringing people home—not just to a house, but to a life that fits. As a real estate broker with @properties Christie’s International Real Estate, Read loves working in the community that shaped her. A proud graduate of Hinsdale Central, she has raised her own family here—Tucker, a Junior at TCU is studying military strategy and communication in Army ROTC; William, a Sophomore at the University of Iowa is studying business; and her youngest son Brit just starting at Hinsdale Central this fall and a proud Red Devil football player. Shaped by this town, Read finds joy in helping shape it back—one family, one home, one connection at a time.
What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table? I’m passionate about increasing awareness around real estate finance—and finance more broadly—especially among women and young people.
How do you de ne con dence—and how have you built it? Confidence is seeking your own approval first, trusting yourself, and liking who you are. Honestly, I built it by failing, by losing a lot, and digging deep to cultivate my own strength. It’s a process, but every step has taught me to rely on myself more.
What legacy do you hope to leave behind? Ultimately, I want to do work I love that creates real value and leaves people in a stronger, more secure place.

ETH GUERIN was a busy mother working full-time when she started the Mama League in Hinsdale in 2022. “After a 15-year career in finance, I recently decided to focus exclusively on the Mama League and it has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life,” says Guerin, who recently expanded her business to Northbrook. “ e ‘fourth trimester’ support and community the Mama League fosters is what I wished I had when my boys were born. It’s been incredibly meaningful to help provide that experience for other moms while also creating the flexibility to spend more time with my own boys as they grow.” e Mama League’s mission is to provide a nurturing community where moms can learn from experts—and lean on each other.
What excites you most about the future of your industry? ere’s been a growing shift towards providing more resources for moms. During pregnancy, women typically have 10 to 15 doctor appointments. After birth, a baby will usually have around seven well visits in the first year, and yet moms are often scheduled for only one postpartum checkup. Fortunately, there’s increasing recognition that this isn’t enough. From doulas to sleep and feeding specialists, pelvic floor physical therapists, and maternal mental health resources, there’s a growing sentiment that moms shouldn’t have to just survive, but with the right resources, can truly thrive. I’m grateful to be part of an industry actively working towards improving the “fourth trimester” experience for moms.
How do you maintain balance between your professional and personal life? If you find a mom that has mastered this, please introduce me, I’d love to learn her secrets. We’re all juggling so many responsibilities, trying to keep all the balls in the air. I’m constantly evaluating which tasks I want to take ownership of, which ones I’m comfortable delegating, and which can go unattended/incomplete for the moment.
What’s one piece of advice you wish you’d received earlier in your career? It’s OK to make mistakes. e fear of making an error or not having an immediate answer to a question used to literally keep me up at night. Years into my career, someone told me that it’s OK to say, “Let me think about that and get back to you.” It sounds so simple, but at the time it was life changing.

As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), DARLENE BINGHAM says she is proud to be a part of the most dynamic, respected, and evolving field in health care. “ e future for CRNAs is not just promising—it’s electrifying, with expanding roles, groundbreaking technology, and a growing recognition of just how vital CRNAs are to the future of anesthesia care,” says Bingham, who has been a practicing CRNA for 20 years, providing care in a wide variety of settings. “As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, I’m incredibly excited about what the future holds, not just for our profession, but for the patients and communities we serve.” Bingham earned a B.S. in nursing from Boston College, playing on the Women’s Division 1 Soccer team, before continuing to receive a M.S. in Nurse
Anesthesiology from Rush University. She devotes her free time to giving back locally and globally, including a recent medical mission with Kenya Relief. “We treated 268 patients and performed 77 life-changing surgeries in Migori, Kenya,” adds Bingham.
“What deeply inspires me is the global reach of this profession. Many CRNAs serve on international medical missions or in military and humanitarian efforts, providing life-saving anesthesia in some of the most resource-limited environments in the world. e ability to bring comfort, safety, and healing to patients in those situations is not just rewarding; it’s life changing.”
How do you give back to your community or industry? In addition to my work in health care and global missions, I’m deeply committed to supporting those in my own community—especially individuals and families a ffected by cancer. I proudly serve on the Board of Directors at Wellness House in Hinsdale, an organization that provides free programs, support, and resources for anyone facing cancer. For me, this work is deeply personal. It’s about surrounding people with care during some of their most di fficult days and reminding them they are not alone. Giving back locally means investing in the strength, resilience, and wellness of the very community I call home—Hinsdale!
What legacy do you hope to leave behind?
e legacy I hope to leave behind isn’t just about the title I held or the credentials after my name, it’s about how I used those gifts to serve others. I want my four children, and others in the community, to see that living a meaningful life means showing up with skill, compassion, and a willingness to give back.

“In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take.”

For nearly 15 years, DR. MARYAM GOLSHANI (DDS) has brought expertise, compassion, and leadership to the field of general dentistry. A proud native of Chicago’s Western Suburbs, she has owned and led Hinsdale Dental Care for more than three years, delivering high-quality care with a personal touch that keeps patients coming back and referring others. Her thriving practice reflects her core values—integrity, innovation, and a deep commitment to community wellbeing. At home, she shares her life with her husband, a physician at Elmhurst Hospital, and their two young daughters, ages 5 and 7. Balancing a thriving practice with motherhood, Dr. Golshani leads by example, showing her daughters—and countless others— that you don’t have to choose between ambition and family, strength and compassion, or success and service.
What’s one piece of advice you wish you’d received earlier in your career? Take the leap, even if it feels uncertain. Too often, we talk ourselves out of our biggest goals because we fear failure. But it’s in embracing risk and uncertainty that true growth and success happen.
How do you maintain balance between your professional and personal life? Balance, for me, comes down to being fully present in whatever role I’m in at the moment. As a dentist and practice owner, and a mom to two young daughters, I’ve made choices that reflect what matters most to me. It’s not always simple, but being present both at home and in the office keeps me grounded. I’ve rearranged my office hours so I can take my girls to school every morning. at time together is something I truly value. In my practice, I stay fully committed to my patients and even share my personal number so they can reach me directly if needed. Over time, my patients have truly become an extension of my own family, which makes balancing both roles less challenging and more seamless.
What legacy do you hope to leave behind? I hope to inspire my daughters to lead, thrive in their careers, and balance family life. For my patients, I aim to create a welcoming, judgment-free environment where confident, healthy smiles are nurtured with compassion—encouraging lifelong trust and care.

One of my goals, as a physician, is to educate my patients and their families about managing their health care. is includes a strong focus on prevention and empowering patients by education.
Being treated by a top doc or well-known specialist for a condition or an acute problem makes sense, especially when we are searching for cutting edge treatments and rare conditions or situations.
However, my job as a primary care physician is to really focus on our patients’ preventive care, and hopefully they won’t develop major medical problems. We do this with frequent visits and communication with our patients. Empowering our patients to take charge of their health, has been vital in keeping them healthier and leading a more independent lifestyle.
Some of the more common health care preventive measures include mammograms, colonoscopy, Prostate enzyme levels, vaccinations, cardiac screening, blood work, exercise programs, and diet modification. Most primary care physicians are managing these points with their patients. If not brought up by your doctor,
be proactive and ask and expect a plan to address these preventive measures.
When dealing with a chronic condition like high blood pressure, chronic pain, or diabetes, ask for all treatment options, as no two patient cases are alike, and having tailored medical care provides better focused outcomes. Sometimes getting a second opinion or a specialist involved can be helpful in providing another fresh perspective.
ere is a lot of information on the internet about medical diseases and conditions. Be careful on where you are getting the information. I always encourage patients to research, but to identify accredited websites that discuss evidence-based medical care. ere are great sites on holistic approaches to treat conditions as well but should be discussed with your physician prior to starting any kind of over-the-counter supplement or treatment. Avoid getting false hope by reading one person’s experience or cure and assuming that will automatically work for you. ere is also no exact way to verify that their story is even true.
With rising health care cost and insurance issues like prior authorizations, prevention has become even more important. To sum up, work closely with your trusted primary care physician who should be able to navigate and assist you. Remember that preventing a health-related problem will most often have a better outcome then waiting for something adverse to occur and then trying to treat afterwards.

For 25 years, Bella Cosa Jewelers has set the standard in brilliance.

Some love stories are told with words. Others are crafted with sparkle. For Amy and Joseph Molfese, theirs began with both. Newly married and full of ambition, the pair—dare we say a perfect, brilliant diamond-shaped pear—co-founded Bella Cosa Jewelers in 2000.
Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, Bella Cosa looks back on silver beginnings that have grown into golden success.
What started with Amy, Joseph, and Joseph’s mother Maria, has now blossomed into two thriving locations, dozens of dedicated employees, and a reputation that shines far beyond the greater Chicago area.
e original Willowbrook shop moved in 2007 to the bustling Willowbrook Town Center, and in 2018, a second location opened in Wilmette— each offering complete whiteglove service.
“Each location has gemologists and goldsmiths supporting a complete jewelry-services approach,” says Amy. “We have an extensive collection of rare gemstones, fine jewelry, and watches, offering a unique luxury jewelry experience.”
But what truly sets Bella Cosa apart? For starters, Joseph isn’t just a jeweler—he’s a gemologist, bench jeweler, and watch expert, with deep knowledge that filters through to the entire sta ff
“It’s a tremendous advantage over our competition,” Joseph notes. “We excel in all areas of bridal and fine jewelry sales, with a specialty and a deep understanding of luxury fine jewelry.”
Much like a good marriage— and a well-cut diamond—Bella Cosa’s sta ff have stayed brilliantly bonded to Amy and Joseph for 10 to 20 years.
“ ey are the best co-workers who are fun, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable,” says Amy. “ ey all care deeply about the work they do every day and are the
secret to our business’s success.”
Each store brims with rare gemstones, fine jewelry, and watches, delivering a luxury experience that feels as personal as it does opulent.
“Our mission is to give each client a luxury experience,” says Joseph.
e real gems aren’t just in the cases, either—they’re in the moments when customers place their trust in Bella Cosa.
And memorable moments abound. One recent customer called 11 jewelry stores before speaking to a Bella Cosa consultant. Impressed, he drove an hour and a half to visit in person. After making his purchase, he said simply, “I trust you”—words Joseph calls the ultimate compliment.
Beyond the display cases, Bella Cosa is woven into the fabric of the community. ey support dozens of local charities, sponsor events year-round, and serve in local organizations. Joseph is a past board member and current advisor to the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce, while Amy is active in the Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club and the Hinsdale Infant Welfare Society.
With thousands of five-star reviews and plans to open more locations in the future, Bella Cosa remains steadfast in its mission: to give each client a luxury experience rooted in trust, knowledge, and care.
More than anything, Bella Cosa Jewelers isn’t just where you buy jewelry—it’s where you find something extraordinary, guided by people who treat you like family. After all, that’s exactly how it began.
Bella Cosa Jewelers is located in Wilmette at 1149 Wilmette Avenue, 847-251-5000 and in Willowbrook at 7163 South Kingery Highway, 630-455-1234, bellacosajewelers. com.
