Newquay, Cornish Ports & Bodmin Jail

Cornwall is a melting pot of holiday must-haves, from shorelines freckled with hide-and-seek coves to soft-sand beaches fringed with Cinderella-blue waters, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Explore one of the many coiffured coastal towns where whitewashed houses are stacked like sugar cubes (here’s looking at you Falmouth and Padstow) or, for those that are fascinated by the myths and legends of wreckers and smugglers, then our Bodmin Jail and Charlestown excursions won’t disappoint. There are plenty of dark secrets, mysteries and haunting tales locked away within Bodmin Jail’s formidable walls. Clutching onto the fringes of Bodmin Moor, this former prison was one of the first in the UK with individual cells, and we have the chance to find out more about its grimy history. We also learn about the punishments and type of inmates, including smugglers, highwaymen, wreckers and more.

Ready to blow away the cobwebs yet? We head towards the gorgeous port town of Padstow which dishes up plenty of culinary culture, fresh seaside air and lovely harbourside views.

Torquay, South Devon & Dartmoor National Park

With its iconic palm trees, continental harbour and golden beaches, Torquay is the perfect location to enjoy a seaside getaway in the heart of the English Riviera. We take a journey back in time to the ancient and picturesque fishing village, Clovelly, where we can venture up and down the cobbled streets, taking in the views across Bideford Bay or have a beverage at the famous 18th-century Red Lion Inn. Clinging to a 400-foot cliff, Clovelly is famous for being completely vehicle-less, with local supplies being delivered by donkey, sledge or on foot. Afterwards we journey to the harbour town of Bideford, where we enjoy free time to discover this town’s delightful sights; it’s the perfect place for a spot of retail therapy and a relaxing time outdoors.

We start the day with a trip into yesteryear by boarding the Bluebell Railway, one of the UK’s best-preserved heritage railways. From Sheffield Park station we journey through the idyllic Sussex countryside towards Grinstead, enjoying the lovely vistas along the way.

Afterwards, we explore the bustling market town of Lewes, surrounded by chalk cliffs in the South Downs. There are many historic buildings to admire including the Norman castle which dominates the townscape.

Bournemouth & the Isle of Wight by Hovercraft

The bustling resort of Bournemouth is home to seven miles of golden sands and a historic pier, offering a traditional and friendly seaside ambience. From our base here, we explore the charming Dorchester Market and the harbourside town of Weymouth. We also discover picturesque Ryde after taking a fabulous journey to the Isle of Wight by hovercraft, and have the chance to visit historic Salisbury to complete a lovely few days away.

Hovercraft to Ryde, Isle of Wight (full day)

We travel by coach to the popular resort of Southsea, where we then take a memorable journey as foot passengers by hovercraft to the Isle of Wight. Easily the fastest Isle of Wight ferry service across the Solent, it takes just ten minutes as we ‘fly’ on a cushion of air!

We disembark in the seaside town of Ryde with its long stretch of golden sand and pretty esplanade. There is plenty of time to take a relaxing stroll along the famous pier (the oldest in the UK), admire the boats moored in the town’s harbour or explore the boutique shops, bars and restaurants before we head back, via hovercraft then coach, to the hotel.

With elegant resort towns, spotless beaches, old-fashioned charm and miles of unspoilt coastline, the Isle of Wight is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing few days away. A firm favourite of Queen Victoria in the 19th century, the island is one of the UK’s most popular destinations and it’s easy to see why. On this fantastic break we enjoy the island’s peace, tranquility and natural beauty as well as a nostalgic journey on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and a visit to fascinating Osborne House.

Osborne House & Cowes (full day)

We have the chance to explore Queen Victoria’s one-time residence on the island, Osborne House. Built as a holiday home and rural retreat in the late 1840s, the Italianate palace reflects Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s tastes and passions, and boasts spectacular views across the Solent. It is no wonder that Victoria herself once said, ‘it’s impossible to imagine a prettier spot.’ Here we take an intimate glimpse of royal family life as we wander through the magnificent Royal Apartments as well as the walled gardens and grounds where we find the charming Swiss Cottage, used by the royal children to learn household management.

We then head to Cowes, a vibrant and sophisticated resort home to the world-famous regatta that swells the local population each August. Enjoy a stroll along the seafront, browse the boutique shops, or admire many of the town’s ornate buildings which date from Queen Victoria’s time, in the style popularised by Prince Albert.

Isle of Wight Steam Railway & Ryde (full day)

We journey back to a bygone era as we board the award-winning Isle of Wight Steam Railway at Havenstreet. Sit back and relax in beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages as we enjoy the rolling views of the glorious Isle of Wight countryside. We pass through quaint rural stations, quiet hamlets and ancient woodland on our journey to the seaside resort of Ryde.

Afterwards we spend some time at leisure in Ryde with its long stretch of golden sand, pretty esplanade, marina and beautiful gardens. Take a stroll along the famous 19th-century pier, the oldest in England, or admire the many boats moored in the town’s busy harbour.

Island Highlights Tour – £13pp (full day)

Our fantastic optional Island Highlights tour takes in this unique island’s many famous sights. After Ventnor, a pretty resort built on a series of terraces, we make for Alum Bay. Here we can admire the multi-coloured cliffs and famous chalky outcrop, The Needles. Next is the historic port town of Yarmouth which contains some of the oldest architecture on the island including a 16th-century castle. We continue on to Newport, regarded as the capital of the Isle of Wight, with a historic quayside and selection of specialty shops. We return to the hotel via the pretty inland village of Godshill with its charming thatched-roofed cottages, delightful medieval church, tearooms and gift shops.

Ahoy there, matey! Fancy a five-day maritime adventure? We’ve got a treasure map crammed with some of Kent’s most charming coastal towns and head-turning fortresses. Explore Dover Castle, get stuck into a stick of rock beside the seaside and set sail through the tides of history at Chatham’s famous dockyard. Make sure you’ve got your cameras at the ready for our trip to the White Cliffs of Dover too (good luck getting that tune out of your head)! We even doff our cap to Dickens during our optional excursion to Broadstairs and Whitstable; two of his favourite seaside holiday destinations.

HIGHLIGHTED EXCURSION

Dover Castle & White Cliffs Country (full day) We begin the day at Dover Castle. Standing sentinel over the narrowest part of the English Channel, this fortress has played an important and strategic role over the years. During our morning visit we also find out more about the site’s function during the First and Second World Wars. For our first day out we begin with a trip to Ely, where we have time at leisure to explore England’s second smallest city. The historic cathedral is not to be missed, home to the country’s only museum dedicated to stained glass, while Ely Museum in the city’s old gaol is a fascinating place to discover more about the past. With its range of eateries, peaceful atmosphere and picturesque views, the waterside area is a lovely spot to relax here, or you can also visit the remarkably well-preserved 17th-century home of Oliver Cromwell.

Our next stop is atmospheric Cambridge. This university city is full of beautiful architecture, leafy green meadows and majestic college buildings, including the famous King’s College Chapel on the banks of the River Cam. Why not enjoy a spot of punting on the river or visit the Fitzwilliam Museum, the art and antiquities museum of the University of Cambridge, which contains a vast collection paintings, armour, ceramics, furniture, textiles, sculptures and manuscripts.

Nene Valley Railway & Stamford (full day)

We head to Wansford where we board our train for a picturesque journey on the Nene Valley Railway to Peterborough, meandering through a picturesque landscape of water meadows, arable farmland and a country park. The railway has featured in many films and TV series including the James Bond films Octopussy and Goldeneye!

Next we spend some time in Stamford, one of the finest stone towns in the country, with over 600 beautiful listed buildings, five medieval churches and a range of boutique shops. The Town Trail is a wonderful way to soak up the atmospheric streets, charming passageways and market squares before enjoying a well-earned treat in one of the cosy cafés.

On our optional excursion we discover three of Cambridgeshire’s hidden gems. First we visit St Ives with its lovely riverside setting, olde-worlde charm, delightful streets and ancient buildings, including a Jacobean manor house. There’s plenty of historic architecture to explore in Huntingdon too, the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell, from an 18th-century Town Hall to the old Falcon Inn, used as Cromwell’s headquarters during the Civil War. You can find out more at the museum here or take the chance to enjoy one of the traditional pubs. Our last stop is St Neots, with origins dating back to Saxon times. We step aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, Queen Elizabeth II’s former floating Royal residence, used not only for state visits and official receptions but also for family holidays. Crowned the UK’s best attraction by Which? Magazine in 2020, this magnificent vessel is now berthed in Edinburgh. Highlights of the five different decks include the Bridge, the State Apartments, Royal Bedrooms, Crew’s Quarters and the Engine Room. In the heart of the Irish sea, adventure awaits in a land steeped in Nordic and Celtic influence. An island off the northwest coast of England, where possibilities for discovery are as endless as the scenery is breathtaking, and the history is as ancient and rugged as its coastline. We make our base in the capital Douglas, the perfect location for our exploration of some of the best sights on the Isle of Man where we can delve into its rich past.

COACH ITINERARY

Day 1

From a morning pick up in your local area we catch the ferry from Heysham to Douglas, then onwards to our hotel.

Day 2 – House of Manannan Museum & Peel

Today we are set for a Viking adventure fit for a legendary sea god, as we head to Peel to visit the House of Manannan, a museum that explores the Island’s vibrant Celtic and Viking past. See various exhibitions and life-sized reconstructions of Viking ships, such as Odin’s Raven, a recreation of a Viking longboat in two-thirds scale and also a life-sized reconstruction of a Celtic house. Afterwards, we spend time in Peel, the island’s mini fishing port where we can explore this ‘rose red city’, well known for its red sandstone castle and buildings. On the way back to our hotel, we stop at famous landmark, Tynwald Hill, for a photo opportunity. The sight marks the Isle of Man’s independence with its distinctive four-tiered hill. The area is also famous for ancient Viking graves, and a temple dedicated to the Norse god Thor, found near the site of St. John’s Church.

Day 3 – Isle of Man Steam Railway & Castle Rushen

We take a trip on the iconic Isle of Man Steam Railway on the longest narrow gauge steam line in Britain. We journey to Port Erin and enjoy the stunning countryside views and scenery, all while sitting back and relaxing in the original carriages. We disembark at Port Erin for some free time to discover this picturesque seaside village.

Next, we continue our exploration of the island and head south to Castle Rushen in the historic capital of the Isle of Man, Castletown. Called ‘one of the best-preserved medieval castles in the world,’ the castle dominates Castletown. Originally built for a Norse king, the castle has been a fortress, royal residence, a prison and even execution grounds. Afterwards, we spend some time in Castletown where we can explore its grey limestone buildings and harbour before making our way back to the hotel.

Day 4 – Optional Excursion to Cregnesh, The Sound & Port St. Mary (£18pp)

For our optional excursion, we start the day with a visit to Cregnesh, a village on an upland plateau which overlooks the Calf of Man, a tiny Island off the southwest coast of the Isle of Man. Cregnesh was one of the last settlements of the Manx – their native culture has significant Norse, Gaelic, and English influences. Here we can explore the crofting way of life and step inside Manx cottages to see how the crafters lived. You might even catch a sight of a four-horned sheep and traditional farming practices in action.

Next, we make our way five miles south of Castletown to the Sound, at the island’s most southern tip. Here we alight for a photo opportunity of the Calf of Man before heading back to Port St Mary where we spend the rest of the day. Spend time watching the busy yacht harbour or taking in the views of the pretty, sandy beach.

Day 5 – Manx Electric Tram & Laxey Wheel

Today we discover the joys of the award-winning Manx electric railway with a charming trip along the east coast on the vintage line from Douglas to Ramsey. Prepare yourself for fantastic views at a steady speed and enjoy the excellent service and friendly staff on this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Afterwards, we have time for lunch in Ramsey, the island’s second largest town in the north, whose name is derived from the Old Norse, hrams-á, meaning ‘wild garlic river,’ due to the settlements nearby where wild garlic grows in abundance. Don’t miss Ramsey’s beautiful harbour, still in daily use, and be certain to discover the busy shopping street in the main town.

Our last stop takes us to the impressive water-powered wheel – Laxey Wheel, also known as Lady Isabella. Did you know that you’ll also find the Laxey Wheel on the reverse side of £20 notes issued by the Isle of Man Government? Something to look out for!

Day 6

We catch the morning ferry back to Heysham and continue our journey home.

Day 3

– Manx Electric Railway, Laxey Wheel & Snaefell Mountain Railway

We take a trip on the historic Manx Electric Railway, which still uses its original Victorian and Edwardian rolling stock. From Douglas, we journey along the scenic east coast with views of the beautiful Manx countryside on one side and far-reaching views out to the stunning coastline on the other. We disembark in Laxey to visit the Laxey Wheel, the largest working waterwheel in the world and known colloquially as the Lady Isabella. Admire this feat of Victorian engineering as we watch the mighty wheel turn, and can even climb to the top for panoramic vistas across Glen Mooar Valley.

From here we join the Snaefell Mountain Railway, the only electric mountain railway in the British Isles. Dating from 1895, electric-powered trains take passengers over 2,000ft up to the summit of Snaefell, the highest point of the Isle of Man. Here we enjoy spectacular views, and if it’s a clear day, can even catch a glimpse of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales!

Day 4 – Douglas Bay Horse Tramway Ramsey & Peel

This morning we step back in time and enjoy a ride on the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway along Douglas Promenade. The horse trams have been in existence since 1876 on the Isle of Man and have carried plenty of royal visitors, including Queen Elizabeth II, The Queen Mother and Princess Margaret.

Next stop is Peel, a charming fishing port with a history spanning hundreds of years. Located on the west coast, Peel is renowned for its narrow lanes crammed with fishermen’s cottages, the striking red sandstone used to build its castle and the views of the Mountains of Mourne. Day 5 – Day at leisure in Douglas Day 6 – Castletown, Port Erin, Cregneash & Isle of Man Steam Railway

After some free time in Castletown, the original capital of the island, we journey to Port Erin, a peaceful town with pretty gardens and a sandy beach that was first favoured by Victorian holidaymakers. Next is a brief photo stop at The Sound at the island’s southern tip, a hotspot for local wildlife, from sunbathing seals on the rocks to basking sharks and dolphins in the blue waters below. Continuing with more Isle of Man highlights, we discover the fascinating living museum of Cregneash Folk Village, where residents continue to use horsepower and speak the old local dialect. These locals play an important part in keeping the past alive, as village life continues as it has for hundreds of years.

We end the day with a scenic trip from Port St Mary, a beautiful small harbour, back to Douglas on the well-preserved, narrow-gauge Isle of Man Steam Railway. As the island’s oldest Victorian rail system, this journey offers a mesmerising glimpse into the golden age of steam in restored vintage carriages, travelling through glorious countryside, sparkling shorelines, past quaint towns and charming fishing ports.

We catch the morning ferry back to Heysham and continue our journey home.

This morning we have some more time at leisure in St Mary’s before catching an afternoon ferry back to Penzance. We then return to the County Arms where we stay overnight.

Day 3 – Coach tour of St Mary’s

This morning we enjoy a short coach tour which introduces us to the beautiful island of St Mary’s and helps us get our bearings. Sit back and relax whilst we step back in time and explore the largest island with its own beautiful beach, nature reserve and Old Town Church along with shops, bars and cafés.

Day 4

– Day at leisure

Today we enjoy time at leisure in St Mary’s. Hugh Town is the central hub of the island with shops, cafés, galleries, restaurants and pubs as well as a wonderful museum. There are also three lovely beaches close by, or how about taking a boat to one of the beautiful neighbouring islands?

Every summer, the enchanting Channel Island of Jersey stages a fabulous floral extravaganza, the Battle of Flowers. One of the highlights on Jersey’s calendar, the spectacle of flower-festooned floats, musicians, dancers and street entertainers creates a tremendous carnival atmosphere which involves the whole island and attracts thousands of visitors each year. First staged in 1902 in celebration of the Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, Jersey’s Battle of Flowers is one of the largest floral carnivals in Europe and the island’s oldest event.

We take our places in the Grandstand to watch the afternoon spectacle as flower-festooned floats parade around the arena accompanied by musicians, dancers and bands, all creating a wonderful carnival atmosphere and a veritable feast for the eyes.

Day 1

We catch the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin where our tour manager joins us. We continue onwards to our overnight hotel in Mullingar.

Day 2 – Brigit’s Garden & Galway

Leaving Mullingar, we head to the magical, award-winning Brigit’s Garden, set within 11 acres of native woodland and wildflower meadows. The series of four gardens takes us on a journey through the Celtic heritage, mythology and the cycle of the seasons, with each garden representing one of the Celtic festivals of Samhain, Imbolc, Bealtaine and Lughnasa. We continue on to Galway, which was named as the European Capital of Culture in 2020, and enjoy a guided tour of this thriving, cosmopolitan city with our tour manager. Galway has the added bonus of a seaside setting with beautiful beaches and a promenade. Later, we check in to our hotel in Ennis, where we stay for the next three nights.

Day 3 – Limerick & Bunratty Folk Park

Our day starts in Limerick where we enjoy a guided tour with our tour manager. With a lively atmosphere and a rejuvenated waterfront with a stylish boardwalk, Limerick combines Irish tradition and modernity. Built on the River Shannon, the city is overlooked by the majestic 13th-century King John’s Castle and is also home to St John’s Cathedral which boasts the tallest spire in Ireland. We continue to the charming village of Bunratty where we take a step back in time at Bunratty Folk Park to experience village life in 19th-century Ireland. Set on 26 acres, rural farmhouses, village shops and streets have been recreated as they would have appeared at that time while costumed characters portray the traditions and lifestyle of a bygone age.

Day 4 – Lisdoonvarna & Cliffs of Moher

After some time at leisure in the wonderful spa town of Lisdoonvarna, we continue to the magnificent Cliffs of Moher including the fascinating visitor centre, which brings the different aspects of the cliffs to life. Stretching for eight miles along County Clare’s Atlantic Coast and 214m at their highest, the cliffs offer stunning views towards the Aran Islands and Galway Bay from three different viewing platforms. They are also home to one of the major colonies of cliff nesting seabirds in Ireland.

We then continue on to the Westlodge Hotel in the charming coastal town of Bantry, our base for the next three nights.

Day 4

This morning we board the small ferry boat which takes us to Garnish Island, a tranquil island garden located in the sheltered harbour of Glengarriff in Bantry Bay. The world renowned gardens contain an incredible range of exotic species that flourish in the unique micro climate.

Afterwards we head out on a scenic drive of the wildly beautiful Beara Peninsula which stretches out into the Atlantic Ocean. The breathtaking rural scenery includes mountains and valleys rich in archaeological sites such as mysterious stone circles, picturesque villages and towns and a spectacularly rugged coastline.

Back at our hotel in the evening, we enjoy an Irish coffee-making demonstration.

Day 1

We catch the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin where we meet our tour manager. We continue onwards to our hotel in Belfast, our base for the next two nights.

Day 2 – Guided city tour of Belfast & Titanic Belfast

Today our tour manager takes us on a guided tour of Belfast, Northern Ireland’s most famous city, and now a thriving, modern metropolis with a colourful history – as a key player in the Industrial Revolution; it was the centre for the Irish linen and tobacco industries. We take in the city’s highlights before visiting Titanic Belfast, a fantastic exhibition located on the site of the original shipyard in which the famous liner was built. The exhibition brings the maiden voyage of the Titanic to life in the city where it all began.

Day 3 – Giant’s Causeway, Derry~Londonderry & Donegal

We make our way to the Giant’s Causeway, named for the enormous volcanic columns that make this National Trust-owned site such an incredible place to visit. From here we head to Derry~Londonderry – the only completely walled city in Ireland. We enjoy a guided walking tour with our tour manager where highlights include the gleaming Peace Bridge across the River Foyle and St Columb’s cathedral. Later, we check in to our Donegal hotel where we spend the night.

Day

4 – Sligo & Galway

Leaving Donegal, we travel to the pretty coastal town of Sligo. Surrounded by rugged landscapes, the peaceful town boasts a castle, medieval abbey, traditional pubs and a myriad of shopping opportunities.

Next stop is Galway where we enjoy a guided city tour with our tour manager. This thriving, cosmopolitan city was named European Capital of Culture in 2020. It may be the fastest growing city in Ireland but it has managed to retain its friendly atmosphere. We continue on to our hotel where we stay overnight.

Day 5 – Limerick & Tralee

We head for Limerick where we enjoy a guided city tour with our tour manager. Set on the River Shannon, the city is overlooked by the 13th-century King John’s Castle and has a rich history, which we learn about on our tour. From here we travel to our hotel in Tralee, the county town of County Kerry, where we spend the next two nights.

Day 6 – The Ring of Kerry & Killarney

Our tour manager takes us on a scenic guided tour of the Ring of Kerry, journeying through an untouched landscape of tranquil lakes and rolling hills, passing through charming towns such as Killorglin, Waterville and Kenmare. COACH ITINERARY

Day 1

We catch the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin where our tour manager joins us. We continue onwards to our overnight hotel in the Dublin area.

Day 2 – Guided city tour of Dublin

We start the morning with a city tour of Dublin led by a local guide. This pint-sized city is crammed full of character and personality, and we discover layers of history within the streets; a patchwork of medieval castles and cathedrals. Highlights of our tour include St Stephen’s Green, Trinity College and many iconic landmarks in between. Cameras at the ready for the Molly Malone statue, before we enjoy some time at leisure – while humming cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh – as we explore the city at our own pace.

This afternoon we leave Dublin and make our way to the Ramada by Wyndham Hotel in Belfast city centre, our base for the next three nights.

Day 3 – Guided city tour of Belfast & Titanic Belfast

This morning provides the chance to explore the lively city of Belfast during a tour led by a local guide. Northern Ireland’s best-known city has undergone a striking transformation, and we learn all about its fascinating history as an industrial dynamo with fingers in all sorts of pies; from tobacco, linen and, of course, ship building.

A day out in Belfast would not be complete without a visit to Titanic Belfast, this state-of-the-art multimedia exhibition is easily the city’s most visited attraction. Located at the original shipyard, we walk in the footsteps of the men who built RMS Titanic; the world’s most famous ship.

Day 4 – Giant’s Causeway & ColeraineDerry~Londonderry Train

Today we head to the incredible Giant’s Causeway; the grand rock formation on everyone’s bucket list. Like a huge game of Jenga that got out of hand, these hexagonal volcanic columns are guarded by the foaming ocean and dramatic cliffs.

From here we head to catch the Coleraine to Derry~Londonderry train, described by Michael Palin as “one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world”. We sit back, relax and soak up the stunning views of lush green countryside, golden sands, rolling waves and striking cliffs before we disembark in Derry~Londonderry. With some free time to explore the compact streets within the only completely walled city on the island of Ireland, the striking Peace Bridge arching over the River Foyle is well worth a photo-stop.

Day 5 – Dublin & Guinness Storehouse Brewery

Checking out of our hotel, we travel to Dublin where we enjoy a self-guided tour of the Guinness Storehouse Brewery. Every great afternoon in Dublin starts with a pint of the ‘black stuff’ and today is no different as we explore seven fascinating floors all dedicated to the tale of Ireland’s most iconic beer. We make our way through a series of audio-visual experiences exploring the history, brewing process and advertising successes of the beverage, before we enjoy a picture-perfect pint in the rooftop Gravity Bar.

After our tour, we enjoy some free time at leisure. Temple Bar, the cobbled district where merriment meets live music is a must-see before we head off to our overnight hotel in the Dublin area.

Day 6

We check out of our hotel very early to catch the ferry back to Holyhead; therefore a voucher will be provided to enjoy breakfast on board. On arrival in Holyhead, we continue our journey home.

Day 1

We catch the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin where we meet our tour manager. We continue onwards to our hotel in Dundalk or Carrickmacross, our base for the next four nights.

Day 2 – Mountains of

Mourne

We enjoy a drive through the spectacular Mountains of Mourne, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stopping to explore some of the region’s towns along the way. Hillsborough is a delightful town that is home to a beautiful castle and scenic wooded parkland and lakes. The popular seaside resort of Newcastle is the picturesque gateway to the Kingdom of Mourne where Slieve Donard, Northern Ireland’s highest mountain, sweeps down to the sea, while Downpatrick’s cathedral is said to be the burial place of St Patrick.

Day 3 – Giant’s Causeway & Derry~Londonderry

Our day begins at the Giant’s Causeway, named for the enormous volcanic columns that make this National Trust-owned site such an incredible place to visit. From here we head to Derry~Londonderry – the only completely walled city on the island of Ireland. Our tour manager takes us on a guided walking tour where highlights include the gleaming Peace Bridge across the River Foyle, St Columb’s cathedral and the beautiful Guildhall.

Day 4 – Guided city tour of Belfast & Titanic Belfast

We take a guided tour of the vibrant city of Belfast with our tour manager. Belfast is now a thriving, modern metropolis with a colourful history – as a key player in the Industrial Revolution; it was the centre for the Irish linen and tobacco industries. We also pay a visit to Titanic Belfast, a fantastic exhibition located on the site of the original shipyard in which the famous liner was built, that brings the maiden voyage of the Titanic to life.

Day 2 – Waterford & Suir Valley Railway & House of Waterford Crystal

We start the day with a scenic heritage train journey on the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway, taking in the panoramic views as we travel along the picturesque banks of the River Suir and the beautiful Suir Valley.

We continue on to the thriving maritime city of Waterford, where we visit the House of Waterford Crystal. Our guided tour takes us through the home of the world-famous Waterford Crystal’s manufacturing facility where we learn how the stunning crystal is made, including demonstrations from the Master craftsmen using the traditional methods of mouth blowing, hand finishing, sculpting and engraving.

Day 3 – Wicklow Mountains National Park & Powerscourt Gardens

We head into the Wicklow Mountains National Park which covers 20,000 hectares of stunning mountain scenery, with vast sweeps of heather-clad moorland, hills, bogland, deep glacial valleys and lakes. The mountains are also home to a variety of wildlife habitats.

Afterwards, we continue on to the beautiful Powerscourt Gardens, set against the backdrop of the breathtaking Sugarloaf Mountain and boasting a wonderful blend of striking terraces, fine statuary, ornamental lakes and a wide variety of trees. Designed from 1731 onwards and stretching over 47 acres, the estate includes formal walled gardens, distinctive Italian and Japanese gardens and the Pepperpot Tower, modelled on a pepper pot from Lord Powerscourt’s dining table!

Day 4 – Kilkenny & Rock of Cashel

This morning we make our way to the charming town of Kilkenny to spend some time at leisure to explore its network of medieval lanes which meander in the shadows of the 13th-century St Canice’s Cathedral and historic castle. The riverside walks and traditional pubs are not to be missed. Later, we head west to visit the iconic Rock of Cashel, one of Ireland’s most spectacular archaeological sites, set on a rocky outcrop. The prominent hill is dotted with ancient fortifications, including a 12th-century round tower, 13th-century Gothic cathedral and 15th-century castle.

Day 5 – Dublin (with optional guided tour £14pp)

Checking out of our hotel, we travel to Dublin where we spend an afternoon at leisure. There are plenty of historic sites and monuments to see from the oldest, Dublin Castle, to one of the newest, the Spire of Dublin. We also have the option to join a locally guided tour of the city before spending the night in our hotel in the Dublin area.

Day 2 – Donegal Waterbus Cruise

We head to Donegal where we start with a leisurely cruise on Donegal Bay. Here we can spot the seal colony on Seal Island and admire the beauty of the Bluestack Mountains. Complete with a full commentary about the history, environment and wildlife of the area, this is a lovely way to take in the stunning natural beauty of Donegal Bay. The rest of the day is free to discover Donegal at your leisure. There is plenty to explore in this photogenic town, from the restored 15th-century castle to the ruined Franciscan Priory, or you may like to browse the traditional Donegal tweed in Magee’s, the town’s historic department store. Later we check in to our hotel in Donegal, our base for the next three nights.

Day 3 – Glencolmcille Folk Village, Slieve League Cliffs & Killybegs

We start with a visit to Glencolmcille Folk Village. This living history ‘museum’ is a replica of a rural village offering a glimpse into life as it was for our ancestors.

We then head to the Slieve League Cliffs, one of Ireland’s best kept secrets. Rising almost 2,000 feet from the Atlantic, they are among the highest sea cliffs in Europe and offer outstanding panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Sligo Mountains and Donegal Bay.

Finally we call at Killybegs, Ireland’s largest fishing port with a scenic harbour and also famous for its tapestries and carpets.

Day 4 –

Glenveagh Castle & National Park

This morning we enjoy a scenic drive through County Donegal, passing the imposing Mount Errigal and Bloodyforeland, named after the intense red hue of the rocks during sunset. We travel to the Glenveagh National Park, a designated Special Area of Conservation and one of six national parks in Ireland. Located in the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains, the park is a remote and beautiful sanctuary of peaceful lakes, peat bogs and rugged mountains. After visiting the park and exploring the striking Glenveagh Castle, we continue our picturesque journey with a coastal drive along the Wild Atlantic Way to the lovely village of Dunfanaghy.

Day 5 – Dublin (with optional guided tour £14pp)

Checking out of our hotel, we travel to Dublin where we spend an afternoon at leisure. There are plenty of historic sites, architectural splendours and iconic monuments to see from the oldest, Dublin Castle, to one of the newest, the Spire of Dublin. Or you may like to experience one of Dublin’s traditional pubs – there are 1,000 lining the city’s cobbled streets! We also have the option to join a locally guided tour of the city before spending the night in our hotel in the Dublin area.

Day 2 – Guided city tour of Galway & Castlebar

Leaving our hotel, we head across to Galway, a thriving, cosmopolitan city with the added bonus of a seaside setting. We enjoy a guided city tour with our tour manager, followed by free time to explore the city, which was named as the European Capital of Culture for 2020! Later we continue to Castlebar where we check in to our hotel for the next three nights.

Day 3 – Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Garden & Connemara National Park

We start the day at Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Garden. We visit the restored rooms of the beautiful Gothic Abbey, home to a monastic community of nuns since 1920, and explore the six-acre Victorian Walled Garden where only flower and vegetable varieties from that era are grown. This was one of the last walled gardens built in Ireland during the Victorian period, and its magnificence at the time was compared to London’s Kew Gardens.

Finally we explore the scenic mountains, bogs, heaths, grasslands and woodlands that make up the Connemara National Park. Covering around 3,000 hectares of scenic countryside, the park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna including the famous Connemara ponies.

Why do I have to pay a single supplement?

It is standard practice in the hotel trade to charge for single occupancy of a room as the cost of providing heating, lighting and cleaning etc, is the same regardless of the number of people occupying it.

Will my pickup point change?

All available pickup points are shown for each tour. Please note however, that pickup points are dependent on Just Go! Holidays receiving minimum bookings from those locations. On occasions it may be necessary to move your requested pickup point after booking to ensure that your holiday can still operate. You will be notified of any change to your pickup with your final confirmation.

What time will my pickup be?

We will inform you of the exact pickup time from your town approximately one to two weeks before departure. As a general rule on UK holidays we depart early morning and arrive home late afternoon/early evening although some exceptions may apply.

Can I take my car?

Yes, on certain UK mainland tours. We will give you a discount of £25 per person and a seat will still be reserved for you on the coach for the excursions. Please note that the £25pp make your own way discount has been applied to the prices for dates where no coach pickup is available in your region.

Who is responsible for my luggage during my journey?

It is your responsibility to ensure your suitcase is on board the coach. Please make sure you see the driver place your luggage into the coach and, on the way home, carefully check you collect the correct luggage from the driver at your drop off point. We cannot accept responsibility for damaged or misplaced luggage or any personal items and, whilst we will assist you with the recovery of any lost suitcase, this will be upon receipt of the courier costs.

How much luggage can I take with me?

For holidays by coach, your luggage must be restricted to one medium-sized suitcase weighing no more than 18 kilograms (40 pounds); we cannot carry any additional luggage items. Also, we cannot accept responsibility at any time for your own personal hand luggage. For any holidays by air, the luggage allowance will vary between airlines and will be advised at the time of booking.

I have mobility issues – can I bring a walking aid?

You must advise us if anyone in your party has mobility issues – the minimum requirements are that you are able to climb the steps onto a coach unaided. Please read the tour itinerary carefully to make sure it is appropriate for your mobility level. Due to space limitations we can only accommodate a maximum of two walking aids on to each coach, either wheelchairs or walking frames so long as they are collapsible, therefore you must pre-book a space when you book your holiday and confirmation of this will be on our correspondence to you. Unfortunately we have to reserve the right not to carry any walking aids that are not pre-booked. We regret we cannot accept mobility scooters or motorised wheelchairs.

What do I do if I have special dietary needs?

Passengers are requested to inform us of any food allergies/requests at the time of booking and we will attempt to accommodate them, however special arrangements cannot be guaranteed. Passengers who are coeliac or follow a gluten-free diet are advised to contact the hotel before arrival to check if the diet is catered for. Some customers take their own bread for breakfasts.

Customers with severe food allergies or dietary requirements are advised to make appropriate arrangements with the hotel prior to commencing their tour and speak to the hotel staff on arrival.

Why do I need insurance?

At Just Go! Holidays we are committed to ensuring you are taken care of every step of the way, from the day you book, through to the last day of your holiday. Occasionally passengers fall ill or have an accident whilst on holiday preventing them from travelling home with the coach or on the return flight or requiring medical care when on tour in the UK, Channel Islands or Ireland. This may impact you financially.

When do I need to pay the balance of my holiday?

The balance due dates (the period before the departure date on which your full balance normally becomes due) are: 8 weeks before departure for all UK mainland holidays, Events and Themed breaks by coach or 10 weeks before departure for all Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands holidays by coach. For UK, Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands holidays by air, the balance is due with us no later than 10 weeks prior to travel. For bookings made after the balance due date; full payment is due at the time of booking. You can also make interim payments anytime between paying the deposit and the balance due date.

Railway excursions

Please note that journeys on certain railways may not always be steam hauled, even when pictured in this brochure as being so. Diesel locomotive trains are sometimes in use on certain journeys over which, regrettably, we have no control.

What do I do if I have a special request?

If you have any special requests, we will do our best to help but we cannot guarantee that they will be fulfilled, they are just a request. If your request is imperative to the enjoyment of your holiday, please inform one of the members of our reservations staff at the time of booking however, we cannot accept a booking on the basis of a request being guaranteed. General confirmation that a special request has been noted or passed on to our supplier is not confirmation that your request will be met. All special requests are subject to availability unless and until they are specifically confirmed by us in writing.

Will there be a toilet on the coach?

Yes, all the holidays featured in our main 2023 brochure will be operated by a modern executive standard coach including a wc onboard. Regular comfort breaks will also be taken.

Will it always be the tour coach that collects me from my chosen pickup point?

Not always, sometimes we utilise smaller transfer vehicles to operate some pickups; these vehicles will transfer you to join the main tour coach. We do this in order to offer a wide range of pickup points and to keep overall journey times for the tour coach to a minimum. Are the excursions guaranteed to run on the day specified in this brochure?

Our brochures and itineraries are put together sometimes over a year in advance therefore, unfortunately, things may change before the tour takes place and some excursions may be swapped from one day to another.

Do I need a passport?

All our Ireland and Channel Islands holidays are sold on the basis that you are a British Passport holder. It is your responsibility to ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of the tour return. On holidays by air within the UK you will also need a form of photo identification. You need to advise us if you are not travelling on a British passport for port security checks. In addition, any visa requirements are your responsibility.

What do I do if I’m not completely happy?

It is imperative that if you are unhappy about any aspect of your holiday, you raise the matter IMMEDIATELY with the coach driver, tour manager or accommodation provider. If you fail to do this and deny us the opportunity to rectify the matter at the time, we shall not accept any responsibility retrospectively. If the matter cannot be resolved immediately, it is a condition that you write to us, quoting your booking reference, with the details of your complaint so that we may commence an investigation.

All prices are correct at the time of this brochure going to print (December 2022). We reserve the right to change our prices from time to time. This could mean that when you book your chosen holiday, the actual price quoted in the brochure may have gone up or down. The correct price will always be confirmed to you at the time of booking. Some of the details within this brochure may have changed since going to print. When you book your holiday we will inform you of any change to any of the relevant details which have occurred prior to you making your booking.
