Modern architecture based on traditional architecture of Gjirokastra known as kullë (fortress), covered with concrete facade through the historic stone walls of the old bazaar, which retains the character of a atelier for an artist dominated by minimal space for work .

Atelier is located inside the old bazzar of Gjiroksatra. Gjirokastra Bazaar is created as a trade-craft complex built between the XVIII ‒ XIX centuries with unique historical, architectural and urban values. It played and still plays an important socioeconomic role for the historical center of Gjirokastra city. Its position in the center of the city, the compositional extensions and architectonic ‒ decorative aspects, give the complex a special significance regarding the types of Bazaars inAlbania. The bazaar is a cultural protected monument and is located in the town of Gjirokastra, which was declared a world cultural heritage by UNESCO in July 2005.

The old bazaar is still the social and commercial center of the Old Town of Gjirokaster. Though the newer sections of the city have attracted many businesses and people, the bazaar and its surrounding homes dating from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries still manage to capture a bit of the bygone era of Gjirokaster life. From the last century, the cobblestones and pavements in the Qafa e Pazarit quarter have undergone continuous changes and modifications. It is a fact that since years 1970-1980 they have not been restored, causing an average deterioration of the stones

The house is located in Gjirokastra old bazaar, a small rural core of traditional character, formed by a set of stone houses and a large number of granaries that once housed, dried and treated the corn plantations. The house is located on a steep plot, originally was composed of two attached volumes, which respond to the traditional scheme of the bazaar. The volumes adapt to the slope, are protected from the winds and almost close to the imposing views of the bazaar, giving rise to a compartmentalized interior, of small and dark spaces.

The stone facades keep their original spaces, while in the new volume there are large windows that open onto the views of the estuary, with oriented positions that reflect the use inside and dialogue with the existing. The intervention is committed to a sincere use of materials, limiting the maintenance of the stone, the introduction of exposed concrete , which unifies the roof. Another decision goes through the creation of four windows of different dimensions that bathe the working space, the living space and the place of the cash register , getting the light to bathe the interior stone walls..

POSITION

Gostivar is a city in North Macedonia, located in the upper Polog valley region. It is one of the largest municipalities in the country Gostivar has road and railway connections with the other cities in the region, such as Tetovo, Skopje, Kičevo, Ohrid, and Debar.

GEOGRAPHY

Gostivar, at an elevation of 535 meters, is situated on the foothills of one of the Šar Mountains. Near to Gostivar is the village of Vrutok, where the Vardar river begins at an altitude of 683 meters (2,241 ft) from the base of the Šar Mountains.

HISTORY

In the late 19th and early 20th century, Gostivar was part of the Kosovo Vilayet of the Ottoman Empire.

From 1929 to 1941, Gostivar was part of the Vardar Banovina of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and then became part of Italian-occupied Albania.

ABOUT Leaving Gostivar on the way to Ohrid, the village Vrutok has the gorge of the biggest river in North Macedonia.. Gostivar is one of the biggest settlements in the Polog valley. The Polog valley can be observed from the high lands of Mavrovo and Galičnik.

the flower pavillion is provided to be located in front of the bridge that separates the city park into two parts. The high platform on which the structure is planned to be placed enables clear and unique monumentality for the pavilion.

The pavilion provides a large and limited space, filled with flowers on all sides in which are placed wooden shelves.

From the east side it can be easily seen that the pavilion has a wooden structure combined with glass in the middle, which creates extraordinary look, enabling views from the interior of the pavilion.

In the wooden structure in the vertical pillars are connected wooden shelves, which enable the flowers to be placed in open space where the sun is present during the day.

Vertical columns prevent direct light from penetrating the pavilion, which poses a risk to flower growth.

structure

A wooden supporting structure forms the framework of the pavilion.They deck out the building in a green robe and provide privacy and cool shadows when it is warm. Rainwater is retained for a long time on the ceiling by a specially made natural rubber lining and a thick layer of earth.

The unique concept of the pavilion is seen in its delicate division, which is presented in the open part, the half-open part and the fully closed part, wich creates an impactable harmony inside and out.

With the presence of green plants on the terrace platform near the fountain, a wonderful and functional harmony is created for the citizens. On each side of the pavilion there are platforms where people can sit and enjoy the wonderful smell of nature.

In Rajko Zinzifov Street is the main entrance of the block that directs the pedestrian path to the other block, this diagonal path connects the street with the other block.

At the entrance, in the middle of the the block there is a diagonal pedestrian path wich allows connection with vehicle roads around the buildings.

There are 3 entrances in the block, in which 2 of them are intended for road and pedestrian paths, while one of these entrances located in Nikola Trimpare Street is intended only for entering the ground floor parking.

From the beginning, the idea was to connect Rajko Zinzifov Street with the neighboring block, which can be seen on the diagonal of the pedestrian path. Initially, the form was presented with low buildings on Rajko Zinzifov and Borka Talevski streets, but later they were changed to taller buildings, from which the building at Nikola Trimpare street has a low height.

In this part there is a parking lot with a height of 1.5 m which is also used as a terrace by the residents. The connection from the ground 0.00 to the terrace is connected to a ramp with a length of 18 meters on both sides.

The path that connects with the main street and the other block has a width of 5 m where there are benches and street lighting on both sides, in this area there is enough greenery. The crossing from Borka Talevski Street to Nikola Trimpare Street is connected with this diagonal.

section 2 Active fronts are located on the busiest streets like Borka Talevski and Rajko Zinzifov. Active fronts are also present in block 5.

There is a ground floor parking on Nikola Trimpare Street, with which we used the space for underground parking in other buildings.

In this part is the border of the block with a vehicle path with 6m wide .At the end of this path there is a tree which is a sign for turning the cars in certain directions

In this part is the entrance to the block from Rajko Zinzifov Street, which also has a ramp for underground parking. There are active fronts on these buildings, where the pedestrian path in front of them is 4m wide and the lane for the tree lines is 1.5, and behind these lanes there are sidewalks with a width of 2m.

This villa breaks with all traditions and forms an unrestrained contrast to the otherwise natural surroundings. Like an artistic installation on a podium made of natural stone, which at the same time forms the underground car park, lies the two-story villa and clearly focuses on the forest as the main point of reference. The shape of the building is based on the idea of an L, which borders the hillside of the plot while providing a sheltered outdoor-space for the terrace.

The shape of the building is based on the idea of an L, which borders the hillside of the plot while providing a sheltered outdoorspace for the terrace.

Above the transparent construction of glass and steel hovers an imposing, twisted concrete body, which ensures a high degree of privacy and protection. A few floor-toceiling window elements in the sleeping areas present targeted views into the forest. Large slats of steel are wrapped around the airspace in the middle of the house and create a connection of the levels. This is the vision of a sculptural, purist and modern villa that abstracts classical rules for an incomparable sense of living in the midst of nature.
