JLSP ATTENDS SPAC SUMMER CONFERENCE

On behalf of the Junior League of St Petersburg, State Public Affairs Committee (SPAC) member, Shannon Love, attended the Junior Leagues of Florida SPAC Summer Conference, hosted by the Junior League of Lakeland in July
Attendees participated in a training program on public service, feeding the hungry, and efforts to support human trafficking survivors Several esteemed guest speakers presented during the conference, including the Florida Legislature, Central Florida Health Care, Children’s Home Society of Florida, kidsPACK, Moffitt Cancer Center, and One More Child The conference concluded with a Legislative Reception
In January, the Junior Leagues of Florida SPAC will reconvene in Tallahassee to advocate for important legislation related to children's health and nutrition and human trafficking
WHAT IS SPAC? WHAT DO THEY DO?
The Junior Leagues of Florida SPAC is a non-political coalition of Leagues formed to educate and take action on public policy relevant to our Mission For over 40 years, they’ve advocated to improve the lives of Florida women, children, and families
Florida Leagues that participate in the advocacy process will send delegates to meetings throughout the year to research and debate issues, and then:
Advocate for specific legislation at the state & national levels that is relevant to our key issue areas
Educate the Florida member Leagues about advocacy and public policy Exchange info about community-based League projects to policymakers
