started the nonprofit group, Operation Troop Appreciation in 2004 for soldiers to create a wish list online and have their requests granted. In September 2008, she was honored for her efforts by President George W. Bush on the White House lawn. This is the second time she and her volunteers have been recognized by the President.

Juniata
was named publisher of the Journal Tribune in Biddeford, Maine, one of only seven daily newspapers in the state. Along with managing the operations of the only daily in York County, Drew was elected as president for 2009 of both of Maine’s newspaper associations: the Maine Daily Newspaper Publishers’ Association and the Maine Press Association. He is the first person to hold both presidencies in recent times. As a member of the Maine Press Association, Drew was instrumental in lobbying the Maine Legislature to enact a shield law for journalists, the state’s first, and block the removal of legal notices from print sources. He resides in Saco, Maine with wife Zsofia (Varadi) ’98.

is the new volleyball coach at Illinois State University. She spent the past six seasons as head coach at Division II California University of Pennsylvania where she had an overall record of 161-49. She had the most wins as volleyball coach in the school’s history in 2006, as she led the Vulcans to three straight seasons of 30 or more wins. Eric M. Nissley

Her professional career began at Penn State University where she was primarily responsible for the design and management of university assessment. She also contributed significantly to the office’s institutional research, strategic planning, and accreditation efforts.

was named director of the annual fund at Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. She directs fundraising efforts in eight divisions, develops the annual giving plan, and manages the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of annual fund and leadership gift prospects. Kirsten was also the recipient of the George M. Martin Award, which is presented annually to a member of the college’s advancement staff whose initiative, creativity, and teamwork bring distinction to the college. Matthew G. Shaffer
has accepted the position of coordinator of judicial and residential education at Clarion University in Clarion, Pa. He is responsible for the adjudication of cases involving students who are charged with violations of the university code of conduct and is also involved in training residence life staff and in residence hall programming. Matt earned his master’s degree in student affairs in higher education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2003.

was promoted to a senior audit specialist position with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in May 2008. In June, he was awarded the Certified Fraud Examiner designation from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
