Dear GEMS Families,
A yearbook is not merely a record of the last 12 months; it is also, and much more importantly, an opportunity to remember, share, and celebrate all the wonderful stories – big, small, individual, and collective – that together make up the year gone by.
I know for a fact that every academic year in every GEMS school is filled with truly special stories. Special because every milestone in our students’ journeys is significant, formative, and momentous. These are milestones that will, after all, shape each student’s direction and future, helping to define the possibilities of tomorrow and determine just how far they will go and what impact they will have on the world
It therefore gives me immense pleasure to hear about and share in the many stories and achievements of our students as we look back on another incredibly successful school year – one filled with endless discovery, learning, opportunity, perseverance, hard work, triumphs, and joy.
The role of parents in their children’s success can never be overstated. GEMS families provide the foundation for our students to flourish, and I want to thank all parents for their support as they work in partnership with our teachers and school to ensure their children’s progress, wellbeing, and happiness. We do not take your input and collaboration for granted and appreciate and value the trust you have placed in GEMS to serve and care for your children.
To those students and families continuing with us for another year, let me reaffirm GEMS’ commitment to delivering the highest quality education for all. To those that have graduated and moved on to the next stage of their educational journey, I extend my best wishes and hopes for your continued success
Congratulations to the entire school community for a rewarding and fulfilling 2023-24 academic year!
With warmest regards,

What a wonderful year it has been for our ASDAN students in Art and Design!
We began the year by exploring colour and emotions through the movie Inside Out. It was fantastic to see how students connected with the characters and used the film as inspiration to express their own emotions visually They discovered how colour plays a powerful role in art and communication, and confidently applied this understanding to their creative work. As the year progressed, students delved into the styles of Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky, two influential artists known for their bold use of colour, shape, and abstraction. Students reflected on each artist’s unique style and applied a range of technical skills to produce their own expressive and imaginative pieces, demonstrating growth in both creativity and technique.
One of the highlights of the year was our exciting cross-curricular experience in the Food Science room, where students participated in a baking session as part of their ASDAN course. Before stepping into the kitchen, they practised drawing kitchen tools from direct observation, linking their artistic skills with real-world contexts. The joy on their faces as they baked cookies and engaged in hands-on learning was truly memorable! It’s been a joyful and creative journey, and we are so proud of all that the students have achieved in Art and Design this year Well done to Anya, Mansour and Ahmad!

Their expertise and familiarity with the region will allow them to embrace the vibrant culture of Jumeirah College and help us meet the needs of our growing student body.
We look forward to another year of growth, innovation, and achievement in 2025/26.
Mr A. Kinsey, Head of Business and Economics.
Now in its second year, the Keynes Society has continued to thrive as a cornerstone of academic enrichment at Jumeirah College. Founded in honour of the influential economist John Maynard Keynes, the society aims to foster intellectually stimulating discussions and debates on significant national and global issues.
This year, our focus shifted toward examining key developments within the UK during 2024–25. Topics have included:
“What are the economic implications of Labour’s new fiscal policies?”
“Has the Bank of England lost control of inflation?”
“To what extent should the UK government intervene in the housing crisis?”
“Will the 2025 General Election reshape Britain's economic future?”
As with last year, each session begins with a presentation to introduce the topic, followed by open discussion and analysis from multiple viewpoints. Students are then encouraged to formulate their own arguments and participate in structured debates, refining their ability to communicate ideas clearly and respond to counterarguments effectively.
Students from Years 10, 11, and 12 have continued to demonstrate outstanding intellectual engagement, developing greater confidence in public speaking and critical thinking. Their participation has not only enhanced their verbal communication skills but also supported their analytical writing, particularly in subjects including Economics, Politics, and English.
The Keynes Society remains a dynamic space for curious minds to explore complex issues, and we look forward to welcoming new members as we continue to grow in the 2025–26 academic year.

Enrichment Week 2024 was an unforgettable experience for our Year 8 students, who spent the week immersed in the exciting world of entrepreneurship with the Business and Economics department. Working in dynamic teams of 4–6, students took on the challenge of designing a brandnew hotel concept for Dubai - from initial idea through to final pitch. Throughout the week, students were introduced to essential business concepts, including business planning, financial projections such as cash flow forecasting, and marketing strategy. With guidance from our specialist staff, they applied this knowledge to develop innovative hotel ideas, complete with full business plans, promotional materials, and financial modelling
The highlight of the week was a trade stand exhibition hosted at the prestigious Kempinski Hotel in Dubai, where students presented their hotel models and business concepts to a panel of senior hotel management. Judges from key departments including finance, marketing, and customer service, evaluated the projects in four categories: Most Innovative Design, Best Pitch, Best Financial Plan, and Most Viable Hotel.
We are incredibly grateful to the Kempinski team for their support and for providing students with a truly professional platform to showcase their work. Their invaluable feedback and hospitality, including a celebratory lunch for all winning teams, made this a truly memorable experience.
We look forward to continuing this exciting collaboration with the Kempinski Hotel in next year’s Enrichment Week, offering even more students the opportunity to engage in real-world business challenges and professional environments.
This academic year has been a transformative one for the Computer Science, ICT, and Robotics Department at Jumeirah College. With innovation at our core and student progress as our compass, we have continued to build a curriculum and culture that equips learners with the skills, mindset, and experiences necessary for a future shaped by digital technology.

At GCSE and ALevel, our focus on exam technique, past paper mastery, and iterative feedback has resulted in stronger student performance and deeper conceptual understanding.
Our students have represented JC at national platforms with distinction. From delivering solutions at the Global Innovation Challenge to participating in E-Safety debates, coding competitions and competing at the Dubai E-Sports Festival , they have showcased the department’s commitment to real-world application and excellence.
Our senior students have also secured prestigious internships and ambassador roles with organisations like Inspirit AI, reflecting both their capability and the strength of our enrichment pathways.
This year marked a historic milestone as Robotics was officially introduced as a standalone subject at Jumeirah College for the very first time. The newly launched Robotics Lab became a vibrant hub for creativity, exploration, and hands-on innovation. Students embarked on an exciting journey through the fundamentals of robotics and programming, using awesome equipment such as Sphero, CoDrone EDU and LEGO Spike Prime to develop real-world problem-solving skills, engineering thinking, and coding logic.
Under Mr. Ahmad’s dedication and leadership, the Robotics programme has quickly grown into one of the department’s most dynamic offerings. His passion, clarity, and vision have ensured that lessons are not only purposeful but also deeply enriching, empowering students to build, code, and reflect on how robotics can be applied to everyday life.
With its strong foundation now in place, Robotics has firmly established itself as a core pillar of the department's future direction
The department led CPD sessions on “Personalized Feedback”, and “AI in Education” equipping staff across the school with a deeper understanding of how to critically and creatively integrate AI into their practice but also provide purposeful feedback to the students. These sessions have positioned our department as thought leaders within the school’s wider digital transformation journey.
In Summary, this year has marked a bold step forward. From curriculum innovation and personalised assessment and feedback to competition success and thought leadership, the Computer Science, ICT, and Robotics Department continues to be a dynamic force in shaping the digital leaders of tomorrow. The work this year reflects not just academic excellence, but a department committed to meaningful, futureready learning.

– Jumeirah College’s first-ever student-led play. It was a challenging but rewarding experience that taught us so much about leadership, creativity, and collaboration. Our brilliant cast of GCSE Drama students brought energy and dedication to every rehearsal, and we’re so proud of what we achieved together. Huge thanks to Mr. Burke for his guidance and to our cast for their hard work (even with some last-minute line learning!). We hope this inspires more student-led productions in the future.
– Clara Glenwright & Lily Barnsley (Year 12 Co Captains.)
From the moment I joined Jumeirah College, Drama has been the subject where I felt most alive where each lesson promised creativity, collaboration, and joy. Serving as Drama Captain this year has been both an honour and a deeply fulfilling experience, especially as I continued my personal tradition of cameo appearances in every production. Whether it was Snow White, Grease, or Blood Sisters, every show regardless of scale has left an indelible mark on me. These productions have shaped not just my confidence and creativity, but my sense of belonging. The Drama Department has truly been a home away from home, and its impact will stay with me long after I leave JC.

It’s been another page-turning year in the English department - one bursting at the spine with stories, sonnets, spelling showdowns, and a shelf-full of unforgettable moments. Throughout the year, we’ve welcomed authors whose words jumped off the page and into our hearts. Their visits reminded us why we read, why we write, and why storytelling will forever be part of the human narrative. As we close the cover on another academic year, we’re proud of every student who’s picked up a pen, turned a page, or dared to dream in ink. Here’s to another chapter of creativity, curiosity, and well-versed adventures in the English department next year!
Highlight of the year for us was once more World Book Day in April when staff and students readily transformed into their favourite characters - from Harry Potter to Hamlet, we had enough costumes to fill a library. Our love for language continued to spell success with the ever-competitive Spelling Bee, where our Year 10 students proved they could spell even the trickiest words from their 19th century novels.
One of our ongoing adventures is our visits to Jumeirah Primary School, where our students became literary legends in the eyes of the younger generation, sharing stories and sparking imaginations one book at a time. Our passion for reading also took to extreme heights (and locations!) during the Extreme Reading Competition - because nothing says “dedicated reader” like balancing a novel on a paddleboard or flipping through a chapter while upside-down on monkey bars, or while abseiling down a mountain.
Swastika Issar from Year 10 has been running her own English classes for our support staff this year, sharing her natural linguistic talents and awarding them with certificates for their excellent efforts. We were also poetically proud to reach the semi-finals of the prestigious Emirates NBD Poetry For All competition - proving that when it comes to performance poetry, our students are truly verse-atile. And, in case you thought English couldn't be physical, our Taylor Swift spin classes blended cardio with couplets, leaving us out of breath but in rhyme. Who knew reputation and repetition had so much in common?
Our Year 11 Revision Masterclass Day was another textbook success: Pens poised and minds focused, students powered through sessions designed to plot their course to exam triumph
This year marked an exciting milestone as JC ran practical Food Science lessons for the first time, thanks to the expansion of our specialist facilities. KS3 students have explored key themes across nutrition, health, and sustainability. Year 7 began with the basics of nutrition and body needs, developing practical skills through pasta salad, pinwheels, and cookies. Year 8 built on this with a focus on diet-related diseases and life stages, supported by dishes like curry, coleslaw, pizza, and carrot cake. Year 9 tackled the environmental impact of food production and nutrient chemistry, showcasing their skills with spicy skewers, fajitas, and banana bread. Students have created many pieces of excellent work and great practical dishes!
We also welcomed our first cohort of GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition students in Year 10. They’ve been busy mastering food science theory alongside developing a wide range of technical skills through weekly practicals such as enriched doughs, fresh pasta, sauces, pastry, and meat cookery, while exploring topics like nutrition, provenance, food safety, and sustainability.
Finally, we also saw our Year 13 students take part in the popular “Don’t Starve” sessions ahead of their transition to university life.
This year, our Geography classrooms have been buzzing with energy, enquiry, and exploration. Our lessons have been active and dynamic, giving students regular opportunities to take part in engaging decision-making activities that mirror real-world geographical challenges. In Year 9, students deepened their understanding of global inequalities through the ever-popular Trade Game as part of our Globalisation and Development unit; an eye-opening experience that demonstrated how economically powerful countries can often exploit those rich in natural resources.
Our enthusiastic Year 7s embarked on their first ever decision-making task in geography, weighing up the impacts of flooding and debating the most effective strategies for flood management. These activities have helped develop not only geographical understanding but also critical thinking and teamwork.
Year 8 have explored Hazardous Environments, where they investigated the causes and impacts of tectonic hazards and applied their knowledge practically by designing and testing earthquake-proof buildings; an exciting hands-on task that combined creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Year 8 have also explored a brand-new scheme of work: Economic Activity and Energy, which lays strong foundations for the IGCSE Geography course.
Students particularly enjoyed debating the pros and cons of nuclear energy and investigating the complex environmental and social impacts of Shell’s operations in Nigeria.
Geography continues to be one of the most popular subject choices at IGCSE, and we are delighted to have welcomed another large and enthusiastic Year 10 cohort this year. Our students have risen to the challenge of the next phase of their geographical studies with great maturity and curiosity. They have explored the dynamic world of coastal environments, developing a strong understanding of coastal processes and landforms and evaluating the complex challenges of managing coastal areas in a world facing increasing pressures from both rising sea levels and growing populations.
In addition, students have studied hazardous environments, where they’ve particularly enjoyed building on their Key Stage 3 knowledge to gain a deeper insight into the causes, impacts, and responses to volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and cyclones. Their engagement and interest have been outstanding, and it’s exciting to see them developing into confident, thoughtful geographers.
Our Year 11 cohort have been an absolute pleasure to teach and were a real credit to the department during our residential field trip to Umm Al Quwain; a compulsory and much-anticipated part of the IGCSE course. During the trip, students investigated the effectiveness of coastal management strategies along the UAE’s coastline and explored two contrasting urban areas to analyse how development influences urban character and function. While the fieldwork was rigorous and purposeful, there was plenty of time for fun too!
A highlight for many was the boat tour through the mangroves, complete with a top-deck slide into the (slightly chilly!) water. Students also challenged themselves on the climbing wall and enjoyed a traditional campfire evening with, of course, the all-important s’mores. Back at school, support sessions were very well attended and demonstrated the dedication of our students in preparing for their final exams. A special mention goes to the ever-popular pre-exam breakfast, which provided not only some much-needed fuel but also a boost in morale and team spirit before the big day.
To round off a fantastic year, our year 7 students enjoyed an unforgettable end-of-year enrichment trip to SeaWorld in Abu Dhabi. This experience offered a unique and immersive introduction to our upcoming Year 8 topic Ecosystems. As students explored the different zones of the park, they learned about a wide range of ocean biomes, from the icy polar seas to the vibrant coral reefs and mysterious deep ocean environments. The trip brought to life the complexity and beauty of marine ecosystems and sparked lots of curiosity and questions.
What an extraordinary year it has been for the History and Politics Department at Jumeirah College! From thought-provoking lessons to memorable wholeschool events, our students have demonstrated incredible curiosity, dedication, and creativity throughout the academic year. As ever, History and Politics continue to be more than just subjects on the timetable they are lenses through which our students explore the world, challenge ideas, and develop as thoughtful, informed citizens.
In Key Stage 3, our pupils have truly brought the past to life. Year 7 embarked on an exciting journey of discovery, diving into the medieval world to uncover how people explored, traded, and shared knowledge long before the modern age. Their enthusiasm was infectious, particularly during our special cross-curricular day which brought together History, Robotics, and AI.
Year 8 delved into the history of rights and freedoms, engaging with powerful stories and challenging topics that helped them understand how struggles for justice have shaped the modern world. Their maturity and empathy shone through, especially when exploring civil rights movements and women's suffrage. The Year 8s asked big questions and showed us just how insightful young historians can be.
Year 9 continued this trajectory by tackling the theme of conflict, examining its causes, consequences, and complexities. From the trenches of the First World War to modern-day challenges, they engaged with sources, interpretations, and perspectives in ways that show just how far they have come on their historical journeys. Many are now preparing to take their learning even further at GCSE level, and we couldn’t be prouder of the passion and skill they bring to every lesson
Our GCSE History students have surpassed all expectations this year. Their dedication, resilience, and pursuit of excellence have been truly impressive. Whether grappling with the intricacies of Weimar Germany or analysing political ideologies, they have met every challenge head-on with diligence and curiosity. Results have reflected this commitment, and it has been a joy to see them grow not only as learners but as leaders within the department.
At A Level, our senior students continue to be shining role models for the rest of the school. Their contributions to class discussions, mentoring of younger students, and involvement in wider school life have been nothing short of outstanding.
Beyond the classroom, this year has been packed with enriching opportunities. The Remembrance Assembly was a particular standout a moving tribute crafted with sensitivity and historical depth. Students researched and shared personal family stories of wartime service, bringing home the emotional power of remembrance and reflection. Our celebration of World Book Day highlighted historical fiction and political memoirs, sparking some great discussions across all year groups. We were also proud to host a Women’s History Competition and a book review challenge, both of which received fantastic entries that reflected the diverse interests of our students. Many students have also had the opportunity to publish thought-provoking articles in the History and Politics Journal, showcasing their flair for research and argument. We also hosted a special lesson for visiting Year 4 students from Jumeirah Primary School, helping them explore history through the lens of emerging technologies a unique and inspiring example of cross-phase collaboration.
As we look ahead to 2025–2026, we are excited to welcome our new History and Politics Captains, Pritish and Louise. Their energy, ideas, and commitment to inspiring their peers promise an exciting new chapter for the department We’re already planning new initiatives, events, outreach activities, and publication opportunities that will ensure next year is even more enriching.
Thank you to all of our wonderful students and staff for making this such a memorable year. History and Politics at JC continue to thrive, and we can’t wait to see where the next year takes us.

As part of our enrichment day this year, Year 7 students took part in a cross-curricular project that brought together Spanish and Art through the imaginative world of the famous Catalan artist, Joan Miró. Known for his surrealist style and playful use of colour and shape, Miró’s work provided the perfect inspiration for a day of creativity and language learning. During Spanish lessons, students learned about Miró’s life, explored fun facts about him, and developed key vocabulary to describe his unique artistic style. They studied works such as The Smile of the Flamboyant Wings (1953), Figures and Dog in Front of the Sun (1949), and Constellations (1940), using these to practise describing colours, shapes, and feelings in Spanish.
Students then created their own Miró-inspired artwork using the symbols, abstract forms, and vivid colours seen in his paintings. The results were vibrant and expressive, showing impressive creativity and a clear link to the artist’s surrealist legacy. All pieces were proudly displayed in a class gallery, and prizes were awarded for the most imaginative and visually striking designs.
The project allowed students to apply their language skills in a meaningful and creative context, building cultural knowledge and confidence in selfexpression. It was a wonderful way to show how languages can connect with other areas of learning and to celebrate the talents of our linguists and artists.

It was a fantastic opportunity for participants to enhance their playing, and all students in the master class received insightful and constructive feedback.
Our lovely and talented Competition choir participated in ‘Choirfest’ hosted in Hartland International school. Where our choir went against many schools such as WSO, Hartland and WIS. Our school was appointed the ‘Judges Pick’ showcasing our choir’s flair, singing the song ‘Girl put your records on’. The Competition Choir has made real steps forward this year, participating in more competitions, learning from other choirs and building valuable performance experience.

National Studies at Jumeirah College plays a vital role in shaping the values, identity and global awareness of our students. As part of the compulsory UAE Ministry of Education curriculum, Moral, Social and Cultural Studies (MSC) encourages students to explore their role in society, understand the heritage and values of the UAE, and develop a sense of responsibility as active global citizens. This subject enables both local and international students to deepen their understanding of the diverse and multicultural society in which they live, fostering respect, empathy and critical thinking from Year 7 through Year 13. Throughout the academic year, students have immersed themselves in a wide range of topics that lie at the heart of what it means to be a thoughtful, informed and responsible member of society. In Moral Education, students have reflected on their own physical and mental wellbeing, explored the value of integrity, and learnt how to make ethical decisions in real-life contexts. They have developed the communication and conflict-resolution skills needed to engage respectfully with others and explored what it means to contribute positively to the community, both locally and globally
Social Studies has been equally dynamic, offering students the opportunity to examine key historical events, geographic landscapes, economic systems and sociological themes. Lessons have gone beyond the textbook, incorporating real-world challenges and current affairs to stimulate critical thinking and inquiry. From analysing data and interpreting maps to debating environmental sustainability and innovation, students have become confident, informed thinkers
Across both subjects, students have actively participated in cultural celebrations and community discussions, strengthening their sense of identity and belonging. These experiences not only support their academic development but also deepen their appreciation of the UAE’s rich cultural fabric and its position in a global context.
National Studies continues to inspire learners to become compassionate leaders, ethical decision-makers and respectful members of a diverse and interconnected world.
No more excuses…JC Sport is now in a position to compete again. After a long 18 months of facility enhancement and staffing development, we now have a curriculum that is aligned correctly for our students and a comprehensive ECA sports programme to be proud of, and to build on. JC students have never had such a wide and varied choice of sports, nor as many opportunities to compete as they have had this year. This year we had 64 DASSA entries across over 20 different sports, with multiple teams in various sports allowing even more students the chance to compete. Add in the BSME games and individual competitions, BSAK, World School Games, the 7’s netball and cricket and a UK multi-sports tour and we can see the scale of opportunities that our students now have. ALL of our students now have the chance to be fit and physically active, there is something for everyone. However, we want to compete at national and international level across a range of sports and we need you to want this too. Let’s be dedicated, resilient and work extremely hard in our sport as we do in our academics. We will provide the platform, you deliver the results…
This year’s Aquathon season was packed with energy and achievements, as our students took part in two major DASSA events. The first was hosted by GEMS World Academy, and the exciting finale took place at the Hamdan Sports Complex. Our U13 and U15 boys and girls teams showed incredible determination as they tackled a challenging 1.5km run followed by a 150m swim. We celebrated both team and individual success, with standout efforts and personal bests across the board. A huge congratulations to William Brain, who took gold, and Mateo Jakovljevic, who earned silver in the U13 boys, and to Sabrina Gottschalk Abruzzini for her impressive silver in the U15 girls at the Hamdan Competition. The spirit, resilience, and teamwork displayed made this season unforgettable. Well done to all our Aquathon athletes, you gave it your all and made our school proud!
Athletics: A Season of Strength, Spirit, and Success
This year has been nothing short of remarkable for our JC athletics team. With a packed calendar of events, our athletes have had the chance to grow, compete, and shine both locally and internationally. From track to field, every opportunity brought out the very best in them and they rose to the challenge with pride and determination.
One of the season’s highlights was the Athletics Festival at GEMS World Academy, where our students demonstrated their versatility and passion for sport. Their efforts continued in the DASSA athletics league, where they competed in a highly competitive division alongside six other schools. After an intense season of grit and perseverance, the JC team proudly secured 3rd place a fantastic achievement against strong opposition.
But the competition didn’t stop there. Our athletes went on to represent the school at the World School Games and BSME, testing their skills on the international stage. At the World School Games, JC athletes competed with teams from around the globe, delivering some truly unforgettable performances Special congratulations go to those of our athletes who earned well-deserved medals for their outstanding efforts and both Yixuan Li and Wiliam Brain, who not only achieved 1st place but also broke a World School Games Records in their respective events.
Athletics is more than just a sport it’s a journey of personal growth. It builds core strength, mental resilience, discipline, coordination, and a sense of camaraderie that transcends the finish line. Our students embraced these challenges with enthusiasm, pushing their limits and learning to thrive in multidimensional events.
As the season closes, we celebrate the commitment and spirit of our athletes. Their achievements this year are a testament to their hard work and dedication. We can’t wait to see even more students step up, represent our school, and make their mark in the year ahead.
Here’s to another season of striving, thriving, and going the distance!
With our brand new 6 badminton court sports hall, we have seen a huge growth in the number of students playing badminton both recreationally and competitively. In the U15 DASSA Badminton competition we saw JC achieve 2nd place, missing out by 2 points to DIA to take the team championship. Our very own UAE international Tanirika in Y10 unsurprisingly won the individual gold medal in the girls singles. We also won the gold in the girls doubles and silver in the boys doubles. In the U13 competition, we again saw gold in the boys double competition and finished 5th overall. The competition for places is always extremely high for the school badminton team and we do have the Dubai School Games event still to come.

We were pleased to announce a brand new partnership this year with Tommy Fleetwood Academy (based at Jumeirah Golf Estates), who kindly presented us with the DP World Tour container for over 2 weeks, located in the palace car park. This allowed all of our students access to practice their swing and take tips from PGA professional coaches. There were some serious inter-class competitions, trying to out hit each other using the trackman technology to see how far they could hit their drives. Furthermore, we ran 3 different sessions at the TFA academy as an ECA, as a chance for some young budding golfers to improve their game.
This year, the JC Gymnastics squad has leapt, flipped, and tumbled their way through a fantastic season! With a growing number of passionate students taking part in the Gymnastics ECA, the team has trained hard and shown incredible commitment to mastering both floor and vault routines. A highlight of the season was the DASSA Individual Gymnastics Competition, hosted by NAS Dubai, where 12 of our talented gymnasts from Year 7 to Year 11 proudly represented the College. Competing with skill and composure, every athlete gave it their all, and their efforts paid off in spectacular fashion! The squad returned with an impressive haul of 20 medals, a true testament to their hard work, dedication, and love for the sport. Congratulations to our incredible gymnasts on a season of strength, style, and success!
The netball season this year has been amazing! Over 200 girls have taken part in netball from September to April in both morning training and after school fixtures, as well as weekend and mid-week tournaments such as BSME, Dubai School Games and Wellington Cluster Games. The girl’s attitude to training and games has been exemplary, with all making measured progress in their fitness and skill development and finishing in a variety of high positions in the DASSA leagues. Some excellent performances across the season has meant increased teamwork, communication and tactical skills between our teams, with even more year groups having A, B and C teams to increase participation in competitive sport.
As one of the biggest growing sports in the region, padel tennis is now incorporated into the PE curriculum and the ECA programme We have had multiple events happening throughout the year including the parent/student competition hosted at JC by our friends at Padel Pro. We then saw the first ever DASSA Padel Tennis tournaments organised by Mr Dooling at U13,U15 and U19 for all DASSA schools to compete. We saw further success at the DSG padel with both male and female winners at the U12 age category. This is just the beginning of the Padel boom!
We have a number of international representatives amongst our JC athletes, who represent their country along with their school and club. Competing all over the world, has its sacrifices and can impact on student’s academic and personal lives if not looked after delicately. Therefore, we have created a JC Performance athlete’s pathway which gives athletes the time needed to enhance their own performance within the school day. This year we took what they needed and devised a programme to try to develop them even further through a range of sessions and foci, including nutrition, sports psychology sessions, dealing with pressure, strength and conditioning and goal setting to name a few. The programme will continue to evolve in line with athlete’s needs and continue to try to cover all bases in relation to not just their performance within their sports, but also along with academic pressures and support.
This year’s Rounders season kicked off with a strong performance from our U19s, who dominated the DASSA tournament and secured a well-earned third place at NAS. Term 3 brought incredible participation, with over 100 girls attending weekly training sessions and representing JC in U13 and U15 fixtures. The U13s showed fantastic improvement in their throwing and catching skills, while the U15s began to apply tactical fielding strategies to effectively challenge their opponents. With such strong engagement and development across all age groups, we’re excited to build on this momentum and grow our teams even further next year!
Always the biggest and most inclusive inter-house competition is sports day held again at ISD, Sports City. A fantastic opportunity for forms to compete with each other and seek points for their houses. This year we made it even more inclusive by offering ‘Captain’s ball’, for those students who didn’t want to complete in the traditional athletic events, ran by our fantastic Y12 BTEC student leaders as part of their course.
On the track and field, we again had multiple records broken and even more races than ever before, with our increasing cohort. Sports Day is not always about finishing 1st, but finishing as high as you can possibly can, in order to gain as many points for your house as possible. An important life lesson, that no matter the task - we should always do our best!
Jumeirah College entered the U13 WSG & BSME games in January for the first time in recent history. The competitions both took place over 3 days and gave the team the chance to compete with schools from across the MENA and from across the world. The WSG events include swimming, athletics and football for both boys and girls and was held across Dubai. The BSME games in Bahrain incorporated netball, football and athletics for girls and volleyball, football and athletics for the boys. These events were tiring and the effort levels shown from the 24 person squad was incredibly admirable, both competitions resulting in Jumeirah College finishing in 5th place overall. A fantastic way of improving the college’s international reputation and plans are already in place for the BSME U13 games and WSG U15’s both in Qatar in January 2026.

The DASSA table tennis competition is traditionally one of the last competitions of term 3 and always highly competitive We saw that standard at the Al Wasl club back in October, taking an U13, U15 and U19 boys team to the event. The highlight coming from our UAE ranked Y12 student Advait, losing to his UAE peer in the final and receiving the silver medal. The standard of play was simply ridiculous! The Thursday lunchtime elite session has promoted a culture of high level competition amongst some of more advanced players and the DASSA trials recently took place during a friendly match with DIA Al Barsha, where JC were the winners.
The JC Tennis team excelled again this year by winning the Dubai School Games competition, after the success in the DASSA competitions which saw 4 players reach the ¼ final stage (a year young). We have an array of talent in all of our racket sports and the competition for places is highly sought after. The development of our elite tennis players is an area of focus for next year, giving them time in the gym and on the court in order to further enhance their performance levels.
Science at JC is a dynamic and inspiring experience where curiosity leads the way. Our lessons are interactive and hands-on, with students regularly engaged in practical work that brings science to life. We make full use of our Virtual Reality suite to model abstract concepts from atomic structure to space exploration, making complex ideas accessible and memorable, especially for our younger students.
This year, students explored beyond the classroom with an international science trip to Finland, where they witnessed the stunning Northern Lights and explored Arctic ecosystems. We also hosted a visiting astronaut, whose talk inspired the next generation of space explorers. Our ongoing connection with NASA-linked programmes continues to spark excitement and broaden students’ understanding of science on a global scale
Whether through VR, lab experiments, or encounters with real scientists, Science at JC is about nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of the world, and beyond
Studying Psychology since Year 10 has been one of the most rewarding parts of my time at school. I’ve always been drawn to understanding how people think and behave, and Psychology gave me the tools to explore that in depth. The shift from GCSE to A-Level Psychology was challenging but exciting. It moved from learning the basics to really analysing and understanding the deeper complexities of human behavior. Topics like memory, social influence, and psychopathology stood out to me the most; they felt real and meaningful. I especially enjoyed learning how theory connects to everyday experiences and how much our behavior is shaped by unseen processes. The subject challenged me in the best way and helped me develop a more thoughtful and empathetic perspective. Psychology has shaped how I understand others and myself, and I know it will stay with me beyond the classroom.
Raya Rayan Year 12
My favourite memories this year have undoubtedly been from Psychology and Sociology. These two social sciences have always interested me with their concepts and theories. The first year of A-level Psychology has definitely been one of my favourite and most interesting subjects that I have taken, with fascinating topics. From learning how memory works to social influence, Psychology has changed the way I have perceived the world and has helped me further understand the human mind. Furthermore, Sociology never fails to interest me with the debates between the many theories, alongside learning about social inequalities and issues, helping me to gain a better insight into society and understand the world better. Not only is the subject intriguing the teachers make the process of learning it all the more interesting. I am looking forward to my second year of both of these subjects to help broaden and expand my knowledge.
Charles Stocks Year 12
Psychology and Sociology are subjects which spark my fascination daily. Learning about human behaviour in Psychology as well as the functioning of the human mind truly captivates and intrigues me. Understanding how society operates in Sociology has introduced me to a vast variety of perspectives of our world and developed my knowledge on how individuals and groups interact within complex social structures. With the support of my incredible teachers and the engaging resources provided, learning these subjects this year has confirmed my decision to pursue these subjects further.
Skye Beattie Y12
This year, psychology gave me a new way of seeing the world and understanding the people in it. In Psychopathology, I found it especially meaningful to explore the real-life challenges people face with mental health disorders and the various explanations for them. The diversity of perspectives makes learning exciting; without a fixed paradigm, there’s always something new to consider, encouraging us to develop our own opinions and stances. Refining my learning through practicals, documentaries and group work, psychology has been one of my favourite subjects this year, and I am eager to start A-level psychology!
Ilham Ibraheem Alabi Year 12
Over the past year, students from Jumeirah College have proudly participated in a variety of Unified Games events, embracing the values of inclusion, teamwork, and friendship through sport. These events, held at schools across Dubai, gave students the opportunity to compete in athletics, rugby, volleyball, netball, rock climbing and even real-life Quidditch!
Unified Sports, a Special Olympics initiative, unites individuals with and without disabilities on the same teams, promoting social inclusion through sporting events and competitions. Through these meaningful experiences, our students discovered how playing together fosters mutual respect and lasting friendships. They also embodied the spirit of the Special Olympics motto: “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
During Neurodiversity Week, our Inclusion Committee and Charity Committee joined forces for a fantastic initiative. Together, they organised a fidget toy sale to both raise awareness about neurodiversity and support a worthy cause.
The response was incredible they raised over 1,000 dirhams for Dubai Cares, making a meaningful impact both within our school community and beyond.
This collaboration not only promoted inclusion but also showed the power of student-led action and compassion. A huge well done to everyone involved!
I am incredibly proud of our Inclusion Committee members who recently stood up in front of assemblies at both JPS and JC, speaking to audiences of 200-300 students.
They bravely shared their personal stories and neurodivergent journeys, helping to normalise differences and champion the values of inclusion.
Their honesty, courage, and commitment are truly inspiring By being open and vulnerable, they have taken powerful steps toward creating a school environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
This year, our BTEC Sport students demonstrated outstanding leadership and inclusivity by organising and hosting an ASDAN in Action day. The event brought together students of determination from various schools who are on alternative educational pathways, offering them a joyful and engaging morning filled with diverse and inclusive activities.
Students were welcomed into Jumeirah College where they took part in a range of interactive sessions, including sports challenges, gym workouts, drama games, and creative art. Each activity was designed to encourage participation, boost confidence, and promote new friendships in a fun and inclusive setting.
The event not only celebrated the strengths and talents of all participants but also gave our BTEC students a valuable opportunity to put their planning, communication, and leadership skills into practice that they have been working on as part of one of their modules. It was a powerful reminder of the impact inclusive initiatives can have in fostering understanding, empathy, and the JC community spirit.
The ASDAN alternative pathway proves that learning doesn't stop at the classroom door. Our students engage in meaningful, hands-on experiences that build essential life skills from reading and writing to understanding road safety signs and navigating real-world situations. Whether it’s through community visits, creative tasks, or practical challenges, every activity is designed to make learning relevant, engaging, and fun. With ASDAN, education becomes a journey of independence, confidence, and everyday achievement.
At the core of the Support for Learning (SFL) department is a strong belief that caring for one another is just as important as caring for our students. This year, we’ve made team wellbeing a priority by organising regular shared breakfasts and lunches; simple yet powerful moments that bring us closer together.
These gatherings aren’t just about food, they’re about connection, conversation, and taking the time to pause amidst the busyness of school life. Whether it’s a croissant and coffee to start the day or a lunch table filled with laughter and shared stories, these events have become a valued part of our team culture.
Because in SFL, we know that when we look after each other, we create a stronger, happier, and more supportive environment for ourselves and for every student we support
To welcome our newest students from JPS and beyond, the Inclusion Department hosted Boardgames & Biscuits a warm and friendly event designed to help students meet the Support for Learning team in a relaxed, joyful setting. With laughter over games and plenty of biscuits to go around, it was the perfect recipe for building confidence, connections, and a sense of belonging. Because in our department, no one says no to games, and biscuits are definitely a way of life!
The Robotics Lab hit full capacity for a Q&A parent and student session with Sarah Hales from the University of Cambridge.
Students had the valuable opportunity to connect with institutions offering exceptional programmes and distinctive pathways.
We had the pleasure of hosting University of Kent, Ulster University, UCLAN, Swansea University and Liverpool John Moores University at Jumeirah College.
Jumeirah College hosted an enjoyable and productive information session for Dubai students interested in applying to Oxford. Delivered by Dr Samina Khan, Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach from the University of Oxford, the session covered course choice and other aspects of student life at Oxford.

This Year 10 programme offers students the opportunity to develop their portfolio of skills ahead of choosing A Level courses and starting the university process.
In early May, JC welcomed parents to participate in Unifrog Parent Training sessions. These sessions provided a valuable opportunity to introduce parents to one of the most widely used careers resources among our students. During the training, parents were able to create their own accounts, complete psychometric tests, and explore the extensive range of career and further education tools available on the platform equipping them to better support their child’s future planning.
The highlight of the Jumeirah College Higher Education Week is the rich, diverse schedule and this year was no exception. We kicked off the day with an inspirational keynote by Milli Midwood, Editorial Director at Cosmopolitan Middle East & Grazia Middle East ITP Media Group, and proud JC alumna. Her journey and insights set the tone for a powerful day of exploration and growth. Students took part in a range of experiences centered around four key themes: 1. Preparing for the world of work, 2. Engagement with the changing landscape, 3. Becoming informed decision makers for future pathways, and 4. Self-management through wellbeing and personal development.
Following on from feedback last year, we integrated a Lecture Series, and this proved to be a wonderful addition! Highlights included: The University of Kent’s Sport Science and Sports Therapy lecture, with students praising the clear overview of opportunities in the field; IE University’s Behaviour and Social Science lecture which included information about diverse career paths and The University of York’s Law Lecture, with students highlighting the engaging and interactive nature of the session.
At Jumeirah College, the Medical Team plays a crucial role in monitoring and improving the health status of the students. In addition to providing first aid throughout the school year and Sports day, we also offer health education, vaccination programs, medical examinations by school doctor and vision screening and scoliosis examination from third party for Year 8, 11 and new students; and yearly BMI checks to all students. Furthermore, we also prioritize developing specialized care plans for high-risk students with medical conditions and supporting students with mental health needs. By the end of the school year, statistical reports are submitted to the DHA School Health Section Team.
Health education initiatives:
Our health education initiatives have been consistently strengthened, with focus on recurring topics such as Healthy Eating Habits, Breast Cancer Awareness and Mental Health Awareness, Puberty along with educational sessions from external providers. We conduct informative sessions for our students and staff regularly on ongoing topics and update school boards with relevant health-related information. Additionally, we ensure that the teaching staff stays up to date about the medical conditions of the students and provide them with first aid training.
Vaccination campaign:
The Medical Team in collaboration with the Dubai Health Authority-National Immunization Program conducts multiple vaccination sessions for all years throughout the school academic year Students who are overdue with their booster vaccines are encouraged to get essential vaccines like Tdap, MMR, Varicella and MEN- ACWY in our school clinic along with their parental consent.

Student wellbeing remains the top priority at Jumeirah College. We proudly celebrated Anti-Bullying Week, UK Mental Health Week, and World Mental Health Day this year. These events encouraged open conversations and reinforced the importance of mental health and kindness. Our students have also taken part in incredible house competitions, ECAs, musical performances, and drama productions. These opportunities help foster creativity, teamwork, and a strong sense of belonging. Every day, students promote the JC values, building a culture of respect and positive relationships through positive relationships and interactions. Together, alongside parental support, we ensure that every student is flourishing in a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment.
This academic year has been a landmark for our Eco-Committee, with numerous sustainability initiatives driven by our dedicated team under the leadership of Shivani and Aiden. Their vision and teamwork galvanised students across the school to actively participate in creating a more environmentally conscious community.
A standout moment was our participation in the EEG KS3 student workshop on the theme “Reevaluating Reality: Discovering Our Sustainable City”. This immersive session invited students to reimagine urban life through a sustainability lens. Interactive discussions, city-mapping activities, and problem-solving challenges inspired younger students to visualise and design greener, smarter cities rooted in local solutions. We hosted a successful Clothes Swap event, promoting circular fashion and encouraging students to rethink fast fashion habits. The event not only minimised textile waste but also fostered a culture of reuse and sharing.
Our Recycling Initiatives expanded significantly. The school participated in a national ewaste drive, safely disposing of unused electronics and raising awareness about digital waste. Additionally, our plastic pen recycling program saw hundreds of used pens diverted from landfills
Finally, our team had the honor of representing the school at the GEMS Sustainability Public Speaking Competition. Our three speakers, Ali Abbas Bhojani, Juliette Pereira and Saiprisha Ravi delivered compelling speeches on sustainable innovation and the vital role of youth leadership in shaping a greener future. A special congratulations to our talented Year 9 student, Saiprisha Ravi, who was named the Overall Competition Winner. A remarkable achievement that made the entire school community proud!
The year has set a strong foundation for future eco-action and we look forward to building on this momentum in the next academic year.
This year, the Innovation Team at Jumeirah College continued to flourish under the guidance of two exceptional student leaders, Nader and Aryan, who served as Heads of Innovation. Together, they embodied the core values of the JC Innovation Team, a student-led initiative to empower young minds to explore emerging technologies, tackle real-world challenges, and lead transformative projects that shape the future of learning at Jumeirah College
Aryan brought a thoughtful and strategic mindset to the role. He had the rare ability to see both the big picture and the finer details, often offering alternative perspectives that enriched team discussions and decisions.
Aryan played a pivotal role in the transition and appointment of the next generation of student leaders, ensuring the continuity and sustainability of the Innovation Team. His calm, measured approach provided a perfect complement to Nader’s dynamic leadership, creating a well-balanced and effective leadership duo.
Nader exemplified what it means to lead with purpose. His positivity, resilience, and dedication to excellence ensured that projects moved forward with clarity and momentum. Under his leadership, the team successfully implemented several high-impact initiatives, including AIfocused workshops, tech solution prototypes, and entrepreneurial challenges. Nader’s ability to respond to challenges with practical solutions and to inspire those around him left a lasting and meaningful legacy on the Innovation Team.
This year, Innovation Week at JC was a true celebration of creativity, technology, and forward-thinking. From high-energy coding competitions and immersive problem-solving challenges to the launch of our very own Crypto Marketplace, students were given exciting opportunities to apply their skills in dynamic and meaningful ways. Beyond internal events, we also hosted a series of thought-provoking external talks by industry professionals in innovation, computer science, and artificial intelligence. A standout moment was an inspiring session led by JC alumnus Ahmed Abd El Bary, founder of an AI startup developing cutting-edge tools that are shaping the future of technology. Our innovation spirit extended globally as well, with Kyra A and Ishaan P representing Jumeirah College for the seniors category and Anya A for the juniors at the prestigious GEMS Global Innovation Challenge. Their outstanding pitch and confident delivery impressed a panel of industry experts and showcased the talent and potential nurtured within our Innovation Team.
With dedicated divisions including Tech Solutions (who helped develop the Sports Day Scoring system - Ali & Musa), Artificial Intelligence (Exploring AI tools), Entrepreneurship (Building on skills that are transferable in any industry), and The Innovation Journal (Celebrating JC innovation alongside global advancements in tech and education - Myla), the team has evolved into a leading example of how 21st-century skills can be nurtured through collaboration, creativity, and student leadership.
Last year, Jumeirah College hosted its largest Model United Nations conference so far, JCMUN 2024, welcoming over 350 student delegates from various schools across Dubai. The event provided a platform for students to enhance their debate and research skills, engage in complex discussions on diplomacy, and forge new connections.
JCMUN 2024 featured diverse committees, where delegates tackled pressing global issues such as the integration of AI in warfare, allocation of resources during conflict, and nuclear weapons, reflecting the conference's theme of confronting modern challenges with innovative solutions.
The conference emphasized realistic simulations of international relations, encouraging delegates to navigate unexpected scenarios and crises. This approach fostered a deeper understanding of global governance and diplomatic challenges.. Throughout the weekend, students honed their public speaking, negotiation, and critical thinking abilities. The event culminated in the presentation of traditional committee awards and the prestigious Jumeirah Diplomacy Award, recognizing outstanding contributions to the conference.
Following JCMUN's success, many students continued their MUN journey by attending other prestigious conferences, including events at Gems World Academy where former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon delivered keynote addresses, as well as conferences at Dubai International Academy.
MUN not only provided a platform for academic growth but also fostered a sense of community among participants, leaving a lasting impact on all involved.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award continues to flourish at Jumeirah College, with an impressive number of students embracing the challenge across all levels. This year, 160 Year 10 students participated in the Bronze Award, 35 Year 11 students in the Silver, and 25 Year 12 students took on the challenge of the prestigious Gold Award marking a record level of participation and enthusiasm within Jumeirah College.
Under the stewardship of Mr Noor and Mrs Orr, participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award at Jumeirah College not only fosters physical endurance and practical skills but also instills a profound sense of cultural appreciation and personal growth. As participation continues to rise, the program remains a cornerstone of the school's commitment to holistic education and student development.
Beginning their journey in Years 10 or 11, students have cultivated essential skills in navigation, teamwork, and expedition planning. Their training expeditions took them through the rugged wadis and rural landscapes of Ras Al Khaimah, where they practiced self-reliance and resilience. Evenings were spent around campfires, sharing stories and roasting marshmallows, reflecting on the day's challenges of trekking with fully loaded rucksacks.
The Gold Award participants embarked on an unforgettable expedition in Nepal’s Kathmandu Valley. Trekking through tea plantations, terraced farmlands, dense forests, and vibrant local villages; they fully immersed themselves in Nepalese culture and traditions. Navigating the bustling streets of Kathmandu to gather supplies and enduring the crisp mountain nights under canvas, these students demonstrated remarkable adaptability and determination.
House Fihri has had an incredible year, students have shown energy, determination, and unity in all activities. From sports to quizzes, creative challenges, through to representing the school in individual or team competitions, they performed with pride and consistency, earning praise and valuable points. Their sportsmanship, leadership, and team spirit have set a great example and brought real pride to the whole school community. Well done to every Fihri student.
It was great starting the year knowing Gibran had won the House Cup the year before and there was a fantastic buzz from Year 7 at their first assembly, knowing that they had joined the victorious house! At the end of the first term, due to the fantastic participation of Gibran students in house events, Gibran were coming first in the overall JC inter-house competition! Special mention to William Yep 7G2 who won the Extreme Reading photo competition. Gibran also won the Year 8 and 9 Art competitions, as well as house fitness, swimming and volleyball and had the best attendance and behaviour in Term 1! As if that wasn’t enough, they also won the interhouse netball, football and Speed Stacking – what a great term! In Term 2, Gibran came second in Sports Day after winning the track events and ‘spirit of sports day’ (Gibran certainly knows how to cheer!) but losing out to Sina in the Captain’s Ball and field events – valiant efforts from everyone! Gibran also won the interhouse rounders and had the best behavior in Term 2 but, unfortunately Sina proved just too strong and beat us in other events so we finished Term 2 second overall.
Majid House has had an incredible year, full of energy, teamwork, and memorable victories. Hot off the heels of our latest win in the Float Your Boat competition, it’s clear that the spirit of Majid is alive and thriving especially with Year 7 leading the charge and taking home the gold. Their creativity and collaboration were a perfect reflection of what makes this house so special. Our success hasn’t stopped there. We were proud winners of the Bottle Top Challenge, showcasing our commitment to sustainability and unity. Sports Day was another proud moment, with some exceptional athletes putting in brilliant performances and representing Majid with determination and pride. Although we placed third in the Green Fashion Show, the unwavering support from the entire house was a clear display of our strong community spirit and belief in one another. Our lion-hearted efforts were further recognised with a major triumph in the Interhouse Debating competition an achievement that highlights the passion and intelligence of our yellow-blooded students.
And who could forget JC’s Got Talent? The show was stolen by Majid’s very own Ruhann, whose winning act wowed the judges and audience alike. What a year it has been for Majid House—bold, brilliant, and unstoppable!
Being Sina’s house captains has genuinely been one of the best parts of my school journey. I have loved every moment from planning various events to getting to know all the incredible students, especially the year 7s & 8s who brought so much energy and enthusiasm to every event. Watching everyone support one another has made me so proud to have received the opportunity to lead Sina. The highlights of the year was winning Sports Day seeing everyone in red, working their hardest as a team has proven we have come so far as a house. A huge thank you to every student, form tutor, and our amazing Head of House, Ms Aziz, for making this year so unforgettable. I am looking forward to seeing the new house captains step into the role and bring their ideas to Sina. Being part of this house has meant so much to me, and I will always carry the Sina spirit with me. Go Sina!
What an incredible journey this year has been for our Year 7 students. From the very first day they walked through the gates of Jumeirah College, full of nerves, excitement, and curiosity, they have shown us just how capable, determined, and resilient they truly are. It has been an absolute privilege to guide them through their first year of secondary school, and I could not be more proud of the young people they are becoming
Throughout the year, they have embraced every opportunity with open hearts and adventurous spirits. Whether they were laughing their way down the slides at Wild Wadi, challenging themselves on the rope courses at Aventura, dancing at the Year 7 Disco, or bonding with friends at Aquaventure, these students have thrown themselves into every experience with joy, energy, and a willingness to grow.
Year 7 has been about more than just the fun, though there has been plenty of that! It's been a year of building friendships both old and new, of learning to navigate new routines, subjects, and expectations, and of discovering new passions and interests. From their enthusiastic participation in our crosscurricular day to their day-to-day effort in the classroom, they have consistently impressed us with their curiosity, creativity, and commitment. Most of all, this has been a year of transformation. We’ve watched as these young people have matured before our eyes - becoming more independent, more reflective, and more confident in themselves. They’ve adapted to the challenges of secondary school life with grace and grit, supporting one another and showing kindness in moments that mattered most.
Year 8 has had an outstanding year, marked by enthusiasm, involvement, and personal growth. Students have embraced every opportunity to get involved, from exploring Challenging Adventure Trip in Ras Al Khaimah, competing in a wide range of inter-house competitions, to an impressive commitment to extracurricular clubs. Their energy and positivity have been evident throughout the year.
Many Year 8 students have taken on leadership roles, demonstrating maturity and initiative across the school community. Whether supporting peers, helping to organise events, or representing their houses, they have stepped up with confidence and enthusiasm.
This year has also seen a fantastic level of sporting achievement. A number of Year 8 students have proudly represented the school in sports teams across football, netball, athletics, swimming, and more. Their dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship have made them excellent ambassadors for the school, and their efforts have contributed to a strong year of competition and success.
Creativity shone through during World Book Day, with imaginative costumes and activities that highlighted the students’ love of reading. Another standout moment was the Go to Work with a Parent Day, which gave students an insightful and eye-opening glimpse into the working world. This experience helped them make valuable connections between school and future careers
Overall, this has been a memorable and impressive year for Year 8. Their passion, commitment, and willingness to take on new challenges have set a fantastic example for the rest of the school.
What an incredible year it’s been for Year 9! From the high-energy celebrations of the Year 9 Disco to the thrills of Aquaventure, our students have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and spirit. One of the standout moments was our unforgettable two-night camping residential in Ras Al Khaimah. It was amazing to see students push themselves beyond their comfort zones whether it was hiking, on the via ferrata course, team-building, or simply living a little closer to nature, they rose to every challenge with resilience and positivity. This year also marked a significant academic milestone: choosing GCSE options. Over six months, students engaged in careful reflection, guidance sessions, and assemblies to ensure well-informed and confident choices for the journey ahead. Their maturity and thoughtfulness throughout this process have been truly impressive.
As we look ahead to our upcoming expedition to Borneo in June, excitement is building It promises to be a life-changing experience full of personal growth, cultural exchange, and unforgettable memories. I am incredibly proud of everything Year 9 has achieved this year and can’t wait to see how they continue to develop into the inspiring young adults we know they are becoming
What a fantastic first year of GCSEs it has been for our Year 10 students! From academic achievements to outstanding participation in extracurricular activities, the year has been packed with memorable moments and great accomplishments. On the academic front, students have risen to the challenge of their GCSE courses with determination and enthusiasm. They've shown maturity in their approach to learning and a willingness to push themselves further, whether in the classroom or through enrichment opportunities. It’s clear that Year 10 have embraced every opportunity, whether in sport, performance, volunteering, or academics. They’ve set a brilliant foundation for Year 11 and are on track for excellent GCSE results. Most importantly, they’ve demonstrated the values of kindness, perseverance, and community spirit.
Outside the classroom, Year 10 have truly shone. Many took part in the Sports Tour to England, delivering impressive performances in netball, basketball, and football, showing great teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship. Others completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, developing valuable skills in leadership, organisation, and self-discipline.
Students have also made their mark in the community and creative arts. A number of them volunteered at the Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament, representing the school with pride and professionalism. In the arts, the Year 10 production of Blood Sisters was a highlight, showcasing incredible talent and dedication. Music and drama showcases throughout the year further underlined the vibrant creativity of this year group.
Year 11 has been a milestone year for this remarkable cohort, marked by determination, growth, and unforgettable memories. From the very beginning, students embraced the challenges of GCSEs with focus and resilience, dedicating countless hours to revision and classwork as they prepared for their summer examinations. Their efforts are something they should be incredibly proud of.
Beyond the classroom, Year 11 truly shone in every aspect of college life. Many completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, showing commitment, teamwork, and perseverance. They threw themselves into ECAs with enthusiasm, from sports and debating to music and leadership roles, consistently showcasing their talents and school spirit. Their energy and passion were also on full display during the interhouse competitions, where they proudly represented their houses in a variety of events including Sports Day.
A particular highlight for many was the Year 11 Geography residential trip to Umm Al Quwain; an experience that combined adventure with hands-on learning and strengthened friendships outside the classroom
The year concluded with the heartfelt Year 11 Leavers Assembly, where students came together to reflect, laugh, and celebrate the journey they have shared. It was a fitting way to wrap up a successful year and mark the end of this chapter. Year 11, you have done yourselves proud. Well done!

It came as a surprise to reach the end of the road so soon; it's hard to accept that, for some of us after 7 heartfelt years, our time at Jumeirah College has come to an end. As a collective, it's been a struggle to come up with a final parting message, because to us, it's only our first day at school. From humbly progressing through the younger years to now leading the student body, the unforgettable experiences and memories we leave with will be cherished to the very end. Given the opportunity to work alongside our teachers and share the stage with our peers, we are extremely lucky and grateful to have been a part of our cohort’s great adventure. To our friends that we may call family: we hope you continue to strive for success, make friends anew and live life to the fullest, but do remember that we’ll always have a place in Jumeirah College to call home. Witnessing our peers’ outstanding successes has been nothing short of brilliant, and we hope to celebrate our future endeavours together. To our teachers that we’ve come to know as friends: we are eternally grateful for all that you’ve done for us, helping us through thick and thin, and never giving up on a generation that is now forever in your debt.
But at the end of the era, through this bittersweet and mournful time, there is light at the end of the tunnel: our bright futures await us, and the soon to be distant memories and values of our second home in Jumeirah College now serve as a reminder to live our best lives; as we now know that all good things must come to an end. We leave you with some last words of encouragement, to keep moving, striving to be the best versions of yourselves and making the school a better place each day. It's been an absolute honour and privilege to have joined you all on this exciting journey, and we can only hope that whatever the future has in store for us, it will be as beautiful as what we have had here
Hugh, Salma, Zahra and Zack - Student Executive 2023-2024
It has been a genuine pleasure to watch each of you grow and mature during your first year of Sixth Form. You've faced new challenges with determination, developed greater independence, and shown impressive commitment to both your studies and wider school life. I’ve been proud to see how you've supported one another and embraced the opportunities that have come your way. To those who participated in the leadership application process, your dedication, thoughtfulness, and enthusiasm were truly inspiring and reflected the strength of character we value so highly in our sixth form community.
As you now prepare to enter Year 13, I look forward to continuing this journey with you, guiding and supporting you through this final and important stage. Together, we’ll make sure you finish your Sixth Form experience with pride, confidence, and readiness for the exciting path ahead.
Megan Brady - Head of Year 12
It has been a real pleasure to serve as your Head of Year over the past two years You’ve grown into such a remarkable group of students; hardworking, kind, and full of spirit. This year alone you’ve created memories that will last a lifetime and achieved so much both individually and as a year group. I’m incredibly proud of everything you’ve accomplished and excited to see what the future holds for each of you. Wishing you every success on your next adventure wherever it may take you. Thank you for being such a fantastic year group!
Cahalane - Head of Year 12
