Joan Stephenson, our longserving intrepid admin is retiring this summer. We are interviewing replacements and planning training for the chosen candidate.

Bridge Chapters Resume Travel After two long years waiting for safer travel conditions, the summer bridge-building season will once again find students on-site! This smiling team, composed of chapters from the University of Alberta and U of T, arrived this week to work in Quinamara, Bolivia.

On April 24/25 Carlos Augusto and Julie traveled to Houston for meetings with our long-time Rotary supporters. Tom Cooper, former board member and one of our Rotary Champions joined us from Norman. In addition to reporting on the recently concluded irrigation project in Apohoco, several of the discussions centered around starting a new project soon. Our time culminated in a presentation to the Space Center Rotary Club. In a surprise ending Carlos was named a Paul Harris Fellow in appreciation for his contributions to serving others in Rotary’s name. The nomination was made by Tom Cooper.

The Apohoco project was truly a model of how the very complicated Rotary grant process can be successful and we’re looking for ways to capitalize on that for future collaborations. Next steps include assisting with submitting an article to the Rotary International magazine and providing material about this project and EIA to clubs attending the International Convention in June (hosted by Space Center Rotary)

Mer Bear Memorial Clay Shoot EIA will be hosting its first Clay Shoot Fundraising event in memory of EIA Board Member Patrick Malone's daughter, Meredith Malone. The event is set to take place on September 16th, 2022 at Colorado Clays! There are plenty of opportunities for companies to sponsor this event and we need your support in actively seeking out company sponsors.
