Blaton Aubert
Founded in 1865, the Blaton-Aubert firm began as a construction company specializing in manufacturing decorative elements in reinforced cement, with a focus on creating elaborate decorations and sculptures for parks and gardens.
The company’s establishment on Rue du Pavillon is documented from 1876, and plans from that year already indicate the presence of the main buildings on the site, possibly constructed initially for a brewery in the early 1870s.
Since the 1870s, Brussels has seen considerable transformation. Schaerbeek, once a wealthy neighborhood, has seen a shift in its socio-economic status, becoming an area with a rich tapestry of languages, cultures, and nationalities, as it welcomed waves of newcomers to the city. This district has evolved in tandem with Belgian culture, becoming a microcosm of multicultural integration.
Blaton Aubert - Axonometric Drawing
The Site
Over the decades, this building complex has experienced numerous changes in usage. Various attempts to adapt the structure to contemporary needs have met with mixed success, leaving us with a site that retains significant architectural heritage in the heart of a vibrant Brussels neighborhood.
Intention
Existing Buildings - Axonometric Drawings
In short, the point of this research should be to redensify the area and reconnect the building with the neighborhood, engaging with the community and promoting better relashionship between the area and the rest of Brussels.
Confluence contradicts traditional integration ideology, advocating for symbiotic relationships where diverse cultures evolve together. It promotes mutual growth and understanding, blending distinct cultural elements into a cohesive, harmonious whole, rather than assimilating them into a singular, dominant culture. This fosters a dynamic, inclusive society enriched by its varied contributions.
The project will blend diverse architectural styles to symbolize cultural convergence, creating a dynamic and harmonious environment. The hub will offer flexible spaces for various activities, from art exhibitions to community meetings, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all.
The project will blend diverse architectural styles to symbolize cultural convergence, creating a dynamic and harmonious environment. The hub will offer flexible spaces for various activities, from art exhibitions to community meetings, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all.
The Blaton Social Cultural Confluence Center merges historical and contemporary styles, creating a space that embodies cultural confluence. This hybrid architecture honors the building’s industrial heritage while incorporating modern design features.
The center fosters inclusivity and shared cultural expression, serving as a community hub for diverse activities and events. By blending old and new, the Blaton Center promotes a confluential community where traditions and innovation coexist.
Ultimately, this Project aims to create a landmark that embodies the dynamic, diverse spirit of Brussels. By fostering cultural exchange and community engagement, the hub will enhance the urban landscape and contribute to the city’s social and cultural vitality, ensuring that Brussels remains a place where shared experiences and common goals come to life.

Implantation Strategy
Deca.y consists of three units: two Villa units, one for each brother and a Shared unit.
The land is located in Bikfaya, in the Naas area, Lebanon, in the heart of a century-old pine forest. It benefits from a single access road and stunning views towards the sea.
The project consists of the individual dwelling of two brothers who decide to settle on the same plot to be able to take advantage of the environment which surrounds them.
the first Brother is a down to earth person, the second is a daring and risk taking person.
The Site Design Approach
The site is in a forest of ancient pines, which makes it almost impossible to build anything pristine.
Over time, the project intends to take the qualities of its environment and further explore the concept which suggests that it is possible for architecture to become something discoverable.
The project consists of two villas interconnected by a common space, the first emerges from the ground in a Mural effect on the other hand the second is aerial and cuts the natural landscape aggressively.
The Villa units are positioned differently, the first implanted into the ground, the second disconnected from the ground .
The shared spaces connects the entrance to the yard, while connecting the two units with a terrace benefeting from the view.
The Lanscape around the Villa is treated with minimal softsacping, leaving the enviroment of the terrain's old pines dominant to the atmosphere.
dedicated for Privacy consisting of bedrooms, Family living area with minimum shared area between the two units.
balance between privacy and sharing consisting of a living area for each unit and a shared terrace with a guest house.
completly shared by the two brother, consisting of technical rooms, services, entertainement and open to a backyard.
the project is an opportunity to explore the architectural relationship with its bucolic natural environment by exaggerating the site with decaying masonry which intends to merge with its natural surroundings.
further exploring the concept of object-oriented ontology which suggests that it is possible for architecture to become something discoverable.

Design Approach
As a continuation of the initial design, the intention of this Interior Design is to create a timeless monumental habitat with a natural mood using earth tones focusing on sensoriality of the materials and as well connecting the Dreamer to the Heideggerian concept of being, being in the world.
Palette
As a continuation of the project initial design approach, the interior elements were created with experimental spacial artefact devices that are placed to create a toppography of complex form and spacial sequences.
the following process started by designing a formal chimney and a chair using the exteriors formal devices and amalgaming it resulting in the intention of creating a contemporary non conventianal monumental atmosphere.
in the intent of creating a Phenomenological atmosphere, the project focuses on the Experience and situatedness of the human subject in history, According could be achieved by building spaces on the basis of the following notions:
magic of reality, The body of architecture, Material compatibility, the sound of space, The temperature of a space, Surrounding objects, Composition and Seduction, Tension between inside and outside, Levels of intimacy, The light of things.
the following composition consists of sensoriality experimentation using different materials and textures evoking a mood board of feelings, sound, sent, colors and tempurature.
The main event of the house is around the fireplace, a monolithic sculptural chimney, around which everything happens, the latter separates and connects all the different spaces of the habitat while creating a warm atmosphere and providing comfort.
the materiality and form of the project is treated compatibly resulting with a monumental feel to the house while keeping an earth tones and forest feel mood, and thus creating a timeless space providing the dreamer comfort and a space to dream.
The furniture of the house is part of formal experimentation while remaining functional.
the lighting is part of the language, linear recesseced into the low surfaces, and suspended linear tracks, in medium tempreture.

The Site
With the idea of matching the public square to the architecture and landscape of Beirut; this project consists of a multifunctional place; an urban market, a place of theatrical broadcast, a cultural exhibition space.
Design Approach
The Project resuscitates the lost harmony between nature and culture, the feeling of community and reciprocity in a city; reinvents the way urban spaces should be inhabited and explored in the future; reinvents the way people should see themselves in mixed reality. Vision of an augmented urban space Towards a humannature spatial-linguistic language... in order to maintain human existence, technological singularity must be accompanied by cultural singularity.
Analog Sketches
The design is inspired from organic biotic forms amalgamed resulting in a digital spacial language. The experimentaion was processed throught analog mind maps sketches inspired from biotic and marine forms, its purpose is to transform an imaginary idea in its primitive form into a digitally programmed architectural space.
Implantation Strategy
A two floors parking including technical spaces is implanted underground with an access connected to the Road Charles el Helou.
The main program elements are placed on the corners of the terrain creating accesses to the project and thus, connecting to the city
The Accesses to the project are served by different event scenarios and programs creating spatial sequences all around the project.
the organic form is served by a spatial experience with natural lighting created by organic openings on the volume and thus, resulting with a new spacial language creating a biotic atmosphere to the project.
The Parking is placed underground on two levels following a conventianal grid structural system, however the organic forms above, are fabricated digitally with a light structural system placed on the top slab of the parking.
Scenario 1 : Bio Market
The First scenario is a Bio Market consisting of a number of small to medium market quiosks.
Scenario 2 : Free Space
The second scenario is a free and festival space consisting of a bleacher on an open exterior space.
Scenario 3 : Exposition Space
The third scenario is a closed space defined by the organic roof and consists of an art exposition space.

Digram 1
As part of the southern maritime border negotiations and to maintain stability; The idea is to design a military barracks for the Lebanese army near the unicef blueline.
The Site
Deir Mimas is a town 88 km south of Beirut in Lebanon. Located 2.5 km North the Blueline (the Lebanese Israeli Border), and the village is a strategic point on a mount summit overlooking plain agricultural terrains all over the border.
The Selected terrain is a sloppy terrain located on the peak of the Mountain surrounded by a village and agricultural terrains.
Design Approach
The idea of the project is to combine traditional military strategies with futurist technology therefore augmenting the existing territory that is manipulated strategically with fortified mechanical prosthesis and thus comes the notion of prosthetic base with transformative qualities. This mechanical repertoire is then programmed and combined with itself thus creating a new mechanical transformative entity.

the first step into creating new spatial-linguistic architectonics is by sampling undesirable mechanical objects from a junkyard and creating a new repertoire of Object-Oriented Ontology [OOO]
Project's purpuse
The Project explores the notions of cybernetics, object-oriented ontology [OOO] and as well in the notion of aesthetics which describes our relation to the world with atmospheres. this experimental/speculative approach is to explore the boundaries of architecture and representation and the role of drawing within the discourse of visionary space and exploring the a new architectural spacial language.
Implantation Strategy
Manipulating the existing landscape strategically into three different platforms on three different levels offereing control from any direction.
Introducing the main fortified mechanical buildings, placed into the terrain according to the programs, Topography and surrounding.
Interconnecting the Buildings with fortified Tunnels that are merged into the terrain Interconnecting different spaces.

the Landscape is treated with Hardscaping fortifying the structure of the base and dividing the landscape into platforms strategically.
Mechanical Tunnels with fortified walls that connects different parts of the program.
The Program elements are distributed on the site independantly offering control over surrounding. a thick periferical mechanical wall surrounds and closes the terrain for maximum defence and control.
the independent programatic elemets are merged into he side and connected with mechanical fortified tunnels.
the adjoining terrains serves as a training ground and in an attack scenario, the terrain serves to strategize a strong resistance.
Spatial Language
The Project explores the idea of a military barracks by reacting instead of being, its location produces and reacts to its environment by itself.
In this case resulting in a new synthetic machine which itself produces new synthetic strategies by collecting data from its surroundings
Prosthetic Base gives great importance to Military and technological esthetics because In Military, aesthetics is a sign of efficiency.
Beauty participates in the transformation of the citizen into a warrior, in particular by giving an awareness of the deeper meaning of military commitment. The military ceremony, with its specific aesthetic.
A unique Mechanical Missile Battery is introduced to the Program as a Weapon Gadget to the Landscape. This military unit includes three Howitzers and four Rocket Launchers.
Interconnected Spaces
The prosthetic base consists of a terrain manipulated strategically into three platforms on three different levels and the augmented by different programmed mechanical parts and interconnected with fortified mechanical tunnels.
Self-Defended Spaces
Different zones are conceived for different programs and thus fortified by thick walls placed strategically inside the base territory and also around it, with Some openings that can be used for shooting range.
Spatial Organisation
Open spaces are managed strategically with its surrounding program for different practical military uses; including a training zone, bunker zone, ceremonial zone, missile zone and a helipad.
Access Control
The Base is accessible by two different accesses, a main one on the east side and a secondary one on the southwest side
The Project consists of modifying the existing landscape strategically with traditional military strategies and then augmented with mechanical technological prosthetics. and thus combining traditional with technological resulting into a new architectural spacial-language. This speculative architectural language was a result of a variety of experimentations with mechanical repertoires resulting a virtual sci-fi architecture.

In the desolate heart of the derelict Detritus Landscape, an eerie ontology of existence unfolds. The remnants of a oncethriving antropocentric era now stand as silent witnesses to the passage of time, bearing the scars of desolation and decay. The very essence of this place seems to be entangled in a paradoxical web of presence and absence, where the ghosts of antropogeny still linger amidst the hollow echoes of debris long silenced.
The atmosphere within is thick with an otherworldly blend of melancholy and uncertainty. Shafts of feeble daylight filter through space, rendering it neither in or out space, casting long shadows that dance upon the rusted remnants of Objects and the discarded human debris. It’s an atmosphere where time seems to have suspended itself, creating a liminal space where past, present, and future converge.
The tectonic qualities jusxtepose the organic and the mechanical elements creating a vast language of unrecognised objects with qualities contradicting it’s spatial agency. The spcial landscape’s integrity has given way to the relentless forces of nature, becomes an interplay of textures and forms that speak of an ongoing struggle between the human influence and the nature world blur.
Amidst this amalgamation of the detritus and natural reclamation, a new spacial-linguistic architecture emerges. Transanding human-centric notions, a testament to the relentless adaptability of the environment its inhabiting. Among this transformation become a canvas for a hybrid where the lines of man-made and decaying elements blur.

The workshop will aim to place the multidisciplinarity of the students’ know-how in a specific context which is the scale emerging body in architecture: “Body Architecture”. It will explore the potential of linking parallel disciplines “Fashion + Architecture” in a digital studio, in which students will use computer technologies and advanced manufacturing tools crossed with the methods of thinking and making sewing to achieve 1:1 scale clothing prototypes.
Thematic
The year 2020 was an example of an extreme atmosphere during which the body faced several challenges, such as health, social and economic crises until the big explosion at the port of Beirut. We propose to consider the current framework as a starting point towards improbable life scenarios. Students will deal with the subject of the body. human without taboos and will free their creative imaginations to project and design the scenarios of its mutation, its robotization or its deterioration. They will base their approach on the body of work of a fashion designer, a architect or artist of your choice.
