Types of visual styles in games Photorealistic There are four types of visual styles used in games, starting off with the realistic games, photorealism. This is where games try to mimic real life, maybe not making the graphics completely like as if you was looking at it in real life but it would have the correct proportions at least. Games that show examples of this would be Battlefield and Call of Duty. Battlefield would be the more realistic in its gameplay but the visual style is still the same.

You see from this image the visual effect is very realistic. Everything from the lighting effect and the proportion of the human playing in game. The lighting is very dynamic with the shading and shadows, along with the reflections depending on the object it’s bouncing off.

You can see here in call of duty the aspects of humans and the environment are correct so it is photo realism however it puts less work into making it, life like, such as its lighting is nowhere near as in depth as battlefield and the whole style of the environment is more flat and lower resolution.
