SPIRITUAL WHOLENESS MEDITATE
Search for a feelings chart online. Think about your day and what emotions you experienced. Grow in emotional awareness. This will help you process uncomfortable emotions rather than coping in unhealthy ways with them.
READ SCRIPTURE Read the bible or a devotional based on it. Think about the reading and how it applies to your life. Listen to what God might be communicating to you and engage with him.
Have you ever wondered what leads to a healthy and satisfying life? A life of spiritual, emotional, relational, and physical wholeness? Or maybe you’re just trying to find freedom from hurt, anxiety, or an unwanted behavior like looking at porn. Either way, a better life is possible here and now. The way we experience healing and freedom is actually by taking steps to thrive each day!
1
Breath deeply and slowly. Close your eyes. Remind yourself of truth and visualize God being with you. Experience his love, truth, and presence. This reduces the activity of your limbic system (emotional brain)1, slows down your heart rate, and helps you develop new healthy core beliefs.
READ Read an article or a few pages of a book. Consider the implications of the reading on your life. This increases blood flow and oxygen in your brain, improving daily functioning2
Based on biblical truth, brain science, psychology, and our combined decades of research, this daily guide will help you experience a thriving life. These daily rhythms are not intended to be binding, but rather to help you take steps to experience healing, freedom, and wholeness in your daily life. If these practices are new to you, you may consider beginning by trying two to three of these steps every day for a week.
STAY HYDRATED Drink plenty of water to help your body stay energized and flush out toxins. Being properly hydrated also allows for proper cognitive functioning as 75% of brain mass is composed of water.
GET MOVING Implement physical activity into your daily life. Walk, jog, lift weights, take a class, or play a sport. Find something that works for you. Exercise improves your mood, reduces stress, increases heart, lung, and muscle strength, and boosts your overall health.
GET ENOUGH SLEEP Studies show that adequate sleep leads to improved daily functioning and health5. Sleep will allow you to have the proper energy to engage in other areas of wholeness on a daily basis.
PHYSICAL WHOLENESS EAT HEALTHY Find a balanced diet that works for you and stick to it. Figure out what foods help you feel energized and not sluggish. This will provide your body and brain the needed energy to live into spiritual, emotional, and relational wholeness. We don’t have a body, we are a body, which is eternal. God created us to be good stewards of our life, including our body.
CONNECT Talk, laugh, and spend time with a friend, family member, or co-worker. This releases dopamine and oxytocin in your brain leading to happiness, satisfaction, and a sense of connection4
2
RELATIONAL WHOLENESS MEANINGFUL CONNECTION Share with a safe person how you’re really doing. Talk about emotions, fears, and stressors. Experience being known and understood. God created us to experience healthy relationships with others and to be fully known and fully loved. According to a 75+ year study by Harvard, it’s good relationships that lead to the greatest health and happiness3. God’s word affirms this.

Knowing and owning who God says we are is crucial to living a thriving life. When we see ourselves the way God sees us, we begin to walk confidently in who we are, Who’s we are, and the good works God has prepared for us to walk in. Research shows that positive affirmations decrease stress, help individuals become less defensive, and lead to a more optimistic outlook on life6. Below are ten key truths about who you are, from God, based on his word. We encourage you to stand up straight, look at yourself in the mirror, and quote these truths to yourself every day.

(1 CORINTHIANS 1:30, PSALM 139:13-14, 2 PETER 1:3) I AM GOD’S MASTERPIECE, MADE NEW IN CHRIST, TO DO GOOD (EPHESIANSTHINGS.2:10)

1. I AM A BELOVED CHILD OF GOD. (JOHN 1:12)
STEP 1 What primary lie do you believe about yourself and why? Think about events from ages 0-18 that may have influenced this. Perhaps you were teased as a child or teenager for something about you such as your body, personality, or interests. Maybe you experienced physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. Or, perhaps a parent or sibling was often disinterested, disengaged, or said hurtful words to you. All of these experiences and more can lead us to believe lies like “I’m bad”, “I’m worthless”, “I’m weird”, “I’m a failure”, & more.
KEY LIE & TRUTH ABOUT YOURSELF
STEP 3 What experience in life communicated this truth to you from God? Said another way, was there a time in life God was showing his deep love for you and communicating how much you are valuable to him? Perhaps you were listening to a worship song or at a church service and began to tear up or even weep as you encountered God’s love and presence. Maybe in a time of pain or need, God reminded you how much you matter by a friend or loved one showing up and showing care.
When lies come up again, redirect your thinking to the truth you identified in Step 2. Close your eyes and visualize the experience in Step 3 as you repeat the truth to yourself. Doing this helps the truth from your head sink into your heart. It also engages the same parts of your brain that stored the negative experiences that led to the lies. It begins to counter the negative experiences and lies and re-routes them with the positive experiences associated with what is really true about you.
Most of our battles begin and end in our minds. In fact, the bible expresses that the primary spiritual battle we are in is one that takes place in our minds (See 2 Corinthians 10:3-5). It is one of truth over lies. Many of us have knowingly or unknowingly come to not just believe lies about ourselves, God, and others but to live from those lies each day. Lies influence how we think, how we interact in this life, and the behaviors we engage in each day. Take time to identify the primary lie you believe about yourself, God, and others. More often than not, these lies develop from negative experiences in life. They become deeply held conscious or subconscious beliefs, even though they are not true. And yet we can struggle to overcome them no matter how hard we try. On the following pages, you’ll discover a life-changing solution, one that engages your brain and soul on a deeply transformative level, that we’ve witnessed God use in thousands of people’s lives to set them free. be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

STEP 2 What primary truth, rooted in God’s word, counters this lie? For example, if you believe the lie that you are worthless, perhaps the truth “I have infinite worth, God gave everything at the cross for me” resonates. This truth is rooted in 1 Peter 1:18-19, which says “For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.”
STEP 4
STEP 4 When lies come up again, redirect your thinking to the truth you identified in Step 2.
STEP 3 What experience in life communicated this truth to you from God? Said another way, was there a time in life God was showing his deep love and goodness to you? Perhaps God provided financially when you needed it most. Maybe you came across a bible verse or a song and God spoke to you through it. Perhaps something seemingly impossible happened and God provided healing in your life.

KEY LIE & TRUTH ABOUT GOD
STEP 1 What primary lie do you believe about God and why? Think through experiences from ages 0-18 that may have influenced this. Perhaps you lost someone close to you or went through something extremely painful. Maybe you have asked God over and over to heal you or someone you care about and that hasn’t happened. Perhaps you had negative experiences with authority figures. All of these situations can lead us to believe lies like “God is not good”, “He’s not loving”, “He can’t be trusted”, “He is angry and distant”, and more.
STEP 2 What primary truth, rooted in God’s word, counters this lie? For example, if you believe the lie that God isn’t good, perhaps the truth “God is loving and good” resonates. This truth is rooted in Psalm 86:15, which says “But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.”
STEP 4 When lies come up again, redirect your thinking to the truth you identified in Step 2.
STEP 2 What primary truth, rooted in God’s word, counters this lie? For example, if you believe the lie that you’re all alone and don’t need people, perhaps the truth that “people care and I need them” resonates. This truth is rooted in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, which says “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.”
11
KEY LIE & TRUTH ABOUT OTHERS
STEP 1 What primary lie do you believe about others and why? Think about events from ages 0-18 that may have influenced this. Perhaps you felt rejected or were bullied. Maybe someone important didn’t take interest in your world, including your hobbies, interests, and opinions. Or, perhaps you faced public embarrassment. All of these experiences and more can lead us to believe lies like “People don’t care”, “I’m all alone”, “People aren’t safe”, “I will be rejected”, and more.
STEP 3 What experience in life communicated this truth to you from God? Said another way, was there a time in life God was showing you that you need people and that they care? Perhaps people reached out to you when you were sick or went through something difficult. Maybe a mentor or friend listened to your struggles and encouraged you. Maybe you felt celebrated, loved, and seen at your birthday party one year.
